This is the real conflict in their love story. Shivaay's beliefs and Annima's reality. His beliefs cannot be changed overnight. Even in today's episode it felt like he feels bad that she is not from the same class, lineage and all. And about Annika she gives a damn about these things, she doesn't even care what others think about her.
Shivaay has to cross the border and live the life like that of Annika to understand what is there in the other side of the border. I don't mean he has to reject his own class lineage and all. But how this will happen, Gul knows. Whatever he says is from his own point of view. He has not felt or seen the other point of view. He has to see, feel and live from the other point of view to appreciate that.

I get a feeling Gul has maybe met some men or gotten into a stable relationship instead of just dreaming about what they should be and so she's managed to create three such incredibly diverse but realistic characters in the three Oberoi Brothers. How many of us have not gotten the talk Shivaay gives to himself whenever he thinks about Anika? Perhaps not to the extent of "khoon khandaan" but we've all had our parents say to us "It would be better to marry from your own background/ race/ religion etc." or "Don't shame us by marrying the wrong kind of person"

Shivaay, being the pillar and the face of his family knows that who he marries matters and it's destroying him inside to reject Anika because of something she can't help and can't change. GAHHH I AM SO SAD BUT SIMULTANEOUSLY I LOVE IT.

But like you, I am concerned as to what on earth will end up bringing them together. Obviously he isn't going to marry Tia, but WHY will it break? WHO will do the breaking? And IS THERE ANY CHANCE AT ALL THAT ANIKA WILL GET TO GO OUT AND MAKE A NAME FOR HERSELF FIRST?!

Anika can earn money. But Shivaay wants Khoon and khandaan. Remember he rejected Dev because he is illegitimate hence bad blood. But Dev is accepted by the very family, his own step mom is fine with him. Dev run big business too with his father. But still shivaay rejected him. Problem shivaay has with anika cannot be "corrected". He can only be made to learn to accept her as she is.

Well, I read this post and I thought about it...and well, now Im upset😒
Boo, the chances of her handling this well are limited.

But I really hope she proves us wrong- everytime I expect the show to disappoint, it surprised me, so maybe there is hope. Trouble is, ALL her shows that I've watched start out great and then end in an absolutely tragic disaster...Hope the same thing doesn't happen here as well :/

Ahhh and this is what makes me sad. Because unless it goes down the filmy "HAHA I AM RICH NOW AND SO WE ARE EQUALS" and if Shivaay sticks to his Khoon AND Khandaan entry requirements, at the minute the only path I can see in which Shivaay marries Anika is if he does it to save her somehow, which would serve only to extend the already gigantic chasm he believes exists between them. That imbalance of power would be unacceptable for a woman like Anika who has lived her entire life ignoring what everyone else thinks and getting by on her own merit, by working hard and proving wrong anyone who tries to shame her or bring her down. It would make them both miserable.

In the real world, this is probably where the story of Anika and Shivaay would end. And that makes me so sad to think about I want to just sit on the floor and cry a little.

Hi there,

First of all, thank you so very much for saying everything you did! Everything you said went right down to the core of this ShivIka love story and is one of the main reason that I adore it!
And yes, I am worried at time about the points you mentioned even though they are the very reason due to which I absolutely love these two.

Essentially, this is a story of two independent, confident and self-reliant individuals. They are quiet similar to one another at the core of it but stand on opposite sides of a line - a line made by fate and the circumstances of their birth. What makes the situation interesting and complicated is that they are both equally right! However many of us hate Shivaay's khoon khaandaan speech, he is not wrong. A man of his stature, his status requires a wife who is adapt at handling it all. Social image means nothing to Anika - and I am proud of her for that - but for Shivaay, its essentially his bread and butter. Empires are made on these very images that we all tend to deny and love to defy.

But I guess that's where the love and partnership between two people come in. I am a follower of an ongoing literary series which has somewhat of a similar plot to it. A famous billionaire falls in love with a crude, crass cop who is literally the opposite of everything he could ever require in a wife. But she is the one he yearns for, and so defying society, he goes after her and marries her - even when she warns him against it! The series follows the aftermath of the wedding.
What I love about it most that these two characters are still mostly the way they were before they met. The heroine is still crass most of the time - its her job, she's a cop! - but she has also developed this veneer of polish lets say for the lack of a better word. She is still inept at small talk and socially awkward but she tries to balance that because first, she loves him and second, because he rarely ever asks her to. And the hero, well, he is less highhanded than he used to be, but not once did he ask or demand her to become something that she isn't. He loves her for what she is and never once has he rubbed it in her face that she is a less than perfect wife for a man like him. The essence of their bond was the fact that they never asked the other to change, instead they accepted one another they way they are and simply tried their best to live together without smothering each other. And over the years I have seen that relationship built. I have seen it evolve to what it has become - an equal partnership between two strong individuals. This is what I have learned the most from the two of them: that love takes a hell of a lot of work, but it can work if you want it to!

I see the potential of such an evolution between ShivIka but I also understand that its very hard to do so. Such a story requires a lot of balance - balance between love and society, freedom and exercise of power, and most importantly, between female empowerment and male self-respect, This is the crux of the conundrum that I think GK faces. Because honestly, I am not sure this can be portrayed realistically on television. Its going to require a lot of not only amazing writing but also focus - which given the number of characters Ishqbaaz has is a really difficult task to achieve.

So yes, I maybe an optimist, but I am what my mother calls the realistic-optimist! So I might be hoping for the best here, but I am also aware that the chances of things happening that way are very low. Hence I guess all we can do is watch and love the show until we can bear it no more and then cut out losses and move on! But until that happens, I am going to enjoy the joy ride that ShivIka is right now and write a lot of fanfiction to settle my frustrations!

Love,
A.C.

I LOVE the "In Death" series. Great to see a fellow fan :).
Every single time I see a rich guy/poor girl story on tv I keep hoping something like Eve and Roarke can be pulled off onscreen. But that always ends in disappointment. Shivaay and Annika are the next such pairing I am following. I really hope the writers can actually pull off showing an evolving relationship where each learns to assimilate into the other's world without losing the essence of who they are.

Now im also worried about the future of this love story.ur thinking is deep and logical but the question is indian yelly drama actually didnt follow logic.
So lets see with anxious heart how hero redeem himself and how heroine fit herself in the picture with dignity and character integrity.
Awesome post. 👏

The way I would spin this if I was doing the writing is what smart women ahead of me on this thread have already said -- Shivaay needs to be the one getting a reality check by being forced to live in the real world. Anika is not the one who needs to be made-over in some fantasy sequence--- he needs to go to the local vegetable wala with no money in his pocket, and demand a free kilo of aloo because he is Shivaay Singh Oberoi, and see how many his royal blue blood gets him.

The only way he will change his
khoon khandaan parivaar as the only thing that makes a person worthy is if he realizes he's wrong, by LIVING without it. The way it has to happen, is him exiting the Mansion and his money, and actually living where she lives, eating what she eats, so to speak. If he leaves Oberoi Mansion as a whole, he will only have Anika and the 2 Obros to turn to. He will learn what the rest of the world knows and what Anika represents--- "Meri pehchaan, mera wajood sab meri mehnat ki wajah se hai." Her hard work beats his accident of birth, every time, and he will know this through living without one, and in need of the other.

Shivaay Singh Oberoi,
jo kissi ki samne nahi jhukta, wont be doing this sacrifice for Anika, to win her or some such sugary nonsense. He isn't the kind of guy to take a moral stand either--say it turned out that the CD was right and Shakti held that girl down while Tej slit her neck, and he finds out. Do you see him walking out on his family in disgust and despair? He'd hide it, punish them himself privately, or, if its a police matter, he would minimize fallout, and take care of the remaining Oberois. Or if their entire fortune was made on the back of some horrible evil--would he give up his business and his money? This man is much too practical to take a stand 50 years later for a crime committed when he wasn't even born, so I don't buy that a deep dark secret will drive him out.

He will leave his golden palace and his many gold bars only because the Harishchandra in his family has left. If Omkara cannot stay (deep dark secret) and chooses to leave everything behind, Ram will follow Lakshman and Bharat will go along- Shivaay might not want/need to leave, but he wont let his brothers face things alone.

This is the problem--this "how the other half live" track, cannot possibly come in time for the Anika Shivay marriage to be a marriage of equals. Shivaay will learn her value after marriage, through this track, and after a LOT of pain for the girl. Later, his changing beliefs and her rising value will be a result of him learning life lessons as he eats aloo puri while living in Sahil's chawl house.

This realization of his woman's true worth, and his own mistakes is a far-in-the future track, AND WE ARE VERY CLOSE TO A SHIVIKA LOVE STORY, with misunder standings, unintentional cruelties and insults galore waiting for the FL. Oy vey. Comments?

I loved your post that is the problem in shivika world no matter how much we get angry with shivaay the truth is shivaay and Anika are indeed lives in the opposite part of the world
As gul confirmed shivaay is not adopted or illegimate and Anika will not turn magically turn out from good family even if she turns out from good family her beliefs education lifestyle will not change

Now the question how shivaay will break up with tia and end up with Anika now breaking off with tia will not be very hard there was a scene where tia is hiding someone I think tia is cheating on shivaay and has some other motive behind marrying shivaay I think tia is somehow connected to the secret senior oberois are talking about I am saying this because the other option is tia is marrying shivaay for money and fame which I don't think she is because she is from rich family she can marry any other famous person for fame so the only option left is she is connected to past she definitely not interested in shivaay even if she is interested in shivaay for money she would have notice that shivaay is getting drawn towards Anika I mean come on in today's epi shivaay himself told he likes Anika he covered it up but it is still very suspicious that tia ignored it that only gives me feeling that she is just desperate to enter the oberoi mansion maybe for revenge

Now the more complicated one even if shivaay tia break up how shivaay Anika would reunite I think the secret oberoi senior talks about is definitely murder I think they killed someone to get some project or something who were influential at that time their whole empire is now based on deceit I am saying based on not built on because the grandfather had built it maybe he built in honest way but from the way senior oberoi talks they definitely did something horrible to take it to the position it is in today because it is more easy to make good position but hard to maintain the good position maybe the truth that all their name fame money of which shivaay is so proud of is based on deceit lie maybe murder will shake his belief on top of that if the person seniors kill turns out to be anikas parents then shivaay will definitely leave oberoi mansion he will never be able to accept the fact that the name money fame he is so proud of are based on anikas parents blood he will never be able to accept that it was because of them Anika faced so many hardships of life it was because of them Anika spend her life as orphan we have seen how much he was touched by anikas POV of love the only time Anika mentioned her hardships if this turns out to be true then shivaay will leave his family and he and Anika will come at the same side of the world they both are talented they can start their own life own business

I don't know what CVS will show but I have a request to the talented writers someone please write a story on it

I agree ! Reposting my comment from the Hotstar spoilers thread.
I really liked today's episode and I am also Ok with not hating on Shivaay for a while. If you notice the karwa chauth sound bytes Surbhi keeps saying they are attracted to each other and like some of each other's qualities but it is not LOVE. So I think its natural that Shivaay is denying it. ALSO unlike IPKKND, where ASR enjoyed torturing Khushi especially by modelling the jewelry whereas Shivaay though found Anika beautiful acutely felt her discomfort. He is fighting his own attraction and exercise control but doesn't want to be explicitly mean to her. I like that.

Very nice post and I agree , especially with.the bit on guls heros...
Okay let me try answering the question then... whats the guy gaining by this wedding... the social tag ,publicity around a Glamourous wedding, family name being kept intact ...so what could be worth keeping all that aside ... reason for him to get married to.tia is family the reason he will get out of it also will be family ...
I think gul will take the tested route ...which is making Tia negative and dangerous and anika the saviour angel ..

Now will this result in marrying her ...I really hope not !!!!!
