Same here ... The Mayank saga lol ... that was so 🤪.

I completely hated his knee-jerk reactions etc at the time and as you know I didn't watch it because it ruined all the progress Ishqaan had made as a couple.

Upon re-watching later I realized, he had fallen head over heals in love with Ishqi and was struggling to accept or understand it. His inner struggle became slight outbursts towards Ishqi / KArtik and then compensation towards Rhea. Ishqi on the other hand had buried her feelings because of Mayank - had he not been a slime, she would have married him - love or not.

He was like a pendulum during that period, his heart vs all the Dadi indoctrination in his mind: hence he asked her to meet him by the pool. He waited for the entire evening / night. He asked her time and again why she did what she did. But she stayed quiet. Ahaan blamed himself and her for Mayank's family's destruction. The job thing etc was so he could get her to speak - trying to corner her so she would come confront him. But he didn't know her reality, which is why the Mausa truth was his undoing. At that moment, not even knowing about why she dumped Mayank, Ahaan's heart took over again - realizing Ishqi had to have a valid reason for all she did. And even if he didn't know, he was at a point where it didn't matter to him anymore.

Yes, there are few moments because of which I can cut him some slack like his msg to her about meeting at the pool. It was all ❤️. And you are right, after mausaji's truth on that drunk night he promised to support her in everything and not hurt her. As it was before knowing the truth which was really heart warming.

One thing I always rememeber is how he did not trust Mayank also blindly. When Ishqi brought waiter and accused Mayank of spiking her drink, he confronted waiter to speak the truth and almost believed Ishqi. But then waiter lied. He did not blindly trust his best friend over Ishqi. Thats why I think Ahaan never trusted anyone blindly, not even dadi. Ishqi misread him. She could have presented her side of story before manipulating him.

I disagree that Ahaan would have ever become like his father or Mausaji. At core Ahaan was very empathatic, caring and loving person. He used to protect, help Ishqi even when he used to hate her, like during Jagrata he got angry and asked her to leave but he went after her as it was late night. Then time and again he stood by her even against his dadi.

I don't believe Ahaan was Dadi's puppet. He respects dadi a lot but there are many times where he went against dadi even before he started falling in love with Ishqi. He listens to dadi and handles her diplomatically rather than shouting or rebelling but he does not give in to her all demans especailly if these are morally wrong like taunting Ishqi for her weight etc.

He always loved his family and values institution of marriage. Ishqi had becomes his family now. He helped and protected Ishqi when he did not even love her so now when she became the love of his life and part of his family, it is impossible that he would stop caring for her

It was more like Ahaan knew how to control Dadi when needed. He always seemed well aware of Dadi's personality and knew how to handle her unlike the rest of the family. Dadi definitely tried and succeeded at times in guilt-tripping him, but he always seemed to have the upper hand. The way he confronted Dadi after that Ishqaan pool scene said it all. His character was well written - smart, empathetic, insecure, practical.. but unfortunately dumbed down here and there to satisfy the flawed ratings system.

I don't think so. Even the entire second wedding.. now that I think of it, she likely planned it more for Savitri than Ahaan. 😆

Seeing his reaction on her walking out of the wedding, any outsider would think she walked out on him.🤪

Yes, he had his way of handling dadi and Sarla too.

Even in early days, after Jagrata did not want Mayan-Ishqi wedding in Malhotra house but Ahaan did not give in to her demand. Then dadi was like do as you wish😆. In Mehndi, he tackled Sarla very smartly by announcing dance with her. And when things went overboard in Sangeet wardrobe malfunction, he supported Ishqi in front of eveyrone and called out dadi, Sarla. Dadi had just one weapon that is Savitri and it was Ahaan's weakness. Other than that Ahaan was on his own.

He was not that macho man type where you always rebel by shouting and talking back at elders. He had more inclusive and diplomatic way. Even in the last dadi-Ishqi fight, he asked Ishqi to stop talking and after she left he told dadi about Ishqi's side. That was the best way to handle things IMO.
