Lord Shiva, in anger, holds Brahma's neck and tears His head off while Brahma screams in agony. Brahma is now left with four heads and a gap in the middle where His head was. Soon, He transforms into the 4 - headed God we've known. (Suddenly he has only 1 head - probably for the sake of a few scenes, I think).
Lord Shiva, still in Bhairava form, drops Brahma's head on the ground. Brahma still looks smug for some reason. The head which fell to the ground becomes a skull and attaches itself to Shiva's right hand. While Shiva is wondering what's going on, the skull transforms into a black semi - spherical bowl (it was white so long). It is actually the top half of the skull that has attached itself to Shiva's hands. Now it looks as though Shiva has a begging bowl in His hands. Shiva is aghast at what had happened. Brahma laughs sadistically saying, "I am a person who chants the Vedas. For beheading me, you have now caught the Brahmahatya." and disappears from there. The Ganas and Sadhus who were there couldn't do anything. No matter how much Shiva tried to shake it off, the skull was fixed to His hand. Shiva looks helpless. (I should say, it was a very good job by the actor who played the part.)
Lord Vishnu appears and says that even though Brahma was arrogant, He was a person who speaks the Vedas. Thus, cutting off even one of His heads will lead to Brahmahatya Dosham (I think in Hindi it is Dosh instead of Dosham). Shiva asks, "What can I do now to get this off my hands?" Vishu says that it is the skull of Brahma who was so arrogant and also comments that since he has obtained a skull-begging bowl, He is already known as Kabaala Bhairavar. (It seems like a curse of the famous people - whatever they pick up, they are named with it.) "It will devour anything that is put into it. It someone can fill it with food so that it doesn't go empty, then it will leave your hands. Let me try," says Vishnu. Shiva is happy to find a solution and holds out the bowl saying, "Bikshaam Dehi!". Vishnu pours out a rain of grains from His hands but no matter how much was put in, everything disappeared. Shiva was distressed once more. He says that He will wander in search of a person who can fill this bowl and leaves Kailash chanting, "Bikshaam Dehi . . . Bhavathi Bhikshaam Dehi!"
Lord Shiva comes across Indra and the other Devas. They are sad to see His suffering. Lord Shiva begs them for alms. Indra showers grains of rice into the bowl but it hungrily devours it all. Depressed on not being able to get rid of the skull, Shiva leaves from there.
Lord Shiva is now on the Earth wandering everywhere asking for alms. He reaches the place where the sages (including Sage Aghasthya) were. He holds out the kabaalam (the skull) and asks for alms. The Sages are aghast on seeing Him beg. Shiva explains to them that everything happens for a reason. "Even if I had done the deed to remove Brahma Deva's arrogance, I have to face its consequences. Even Shiva cannot escape fate." He asks them for alms saying that Rishis are powerful due to their tapasya, so, there is a good chance the bowl may fall off. Sage Aghasthya pours grains from his hand into the bowl but it still devoured everything put into it. Shiva accepts it with a sigh saying that even a powerful Rishi like Aghasthya couldn't fill this bowl. Thus, it will not leave Him so easily - such is the curse of arrogance. (He then said something about all this being Narad's drama for curing Brahma's arrogance and that Narad will have a solution to this - didn't catch that dialogue properly.) Aghasthya Muni thinks for a while and says, "When anyone asks for alms, he would call out 'Mother!" So, it will be possible to get rid of this bowl for one of the Three Goddesses, the Three Divine Mothers, to remove this curse. Lord Shiva agrees and leaves from there.
Devi Lakshmi is pressing Lord Vishnu's legs in Vaikuntha. She hears Lord Shiva's voice "Bikshaam Dehi! Bhavathi Bikshaam Dehi..." Lord Vishnu was surprised on seeing Lord Shiva there again. Shiva tells them that only Lord Vishnu had given Him alms but Devi Lakshmi hasn't 😕 (I didn't get the logic here - I thought it was forbidden to ask alms from the same house twice as they would be in an uncomfortable position. They have to give alms to those who ask and refusing will lead to sin. I thought to prevent this discomfort for those who give charity, it was forbidden for one person to ask from the same house more than once. I don't know if it is applicable here. Poor Lord Shiva had to wander so much...) He explains that one of the Mupperum Deviyar (The 3 Great Goddesses - Lakshmi, Saraswati or Parvati) will be able to free Him from the skull. Lord Vishnu agrees and tells His consort, "Devi Lakshmi, you are known to give riches and fulfillment to all in the Universe. You are known as Dhanyalakshmi as the divinity of the food we eat is worshiped as your blessing. Please help Mahadev get over His Misery." "As you wish, my Lord" - saying so, Devi Lakshmi pours out an abundance of grains into the bowl. Again, everything disappears. Lord Shiva is back where He started. Devi Lakshmi looks at Her consort in confusion. Lord Shiva leaves Vaikuntha with a resigned acceptance.
Devi Saraswati is distressed about all that had happened. Devarishi Narad appears in front of Her and tells Her that She may be able to help out Lord Shiva. Since all these events have involved Her, She may be the one to lift the curse. She agrees to it saying that She will be happy if She can help Lord Shiva. As they are about to leave in search of Lord Shiva, Indra and the other Devas appear. Indra says that She won't be able to do so. Indra explains, "When someone asks for alms, they call out 'Mother!' Devi Saraswati is still unmarried. She won't be able to give alms when she is alone." Narad also agrees to this logic. Saraswati says if She has to marry to help Lord Shiva, then she will do so. Narad says that She should marry Lord Brahma and Devi Saraswati is surprised on hearing this. Narad and the Devas explain that Lord Brahma has fought for Her and lost one of His heads for Her sake - just to get Her back and argue who could be a better choice than the person who has fought for Her. They sort of bully her 😆 - saying, "Of course, we are not forcing you, Devi. You can still refuse Him if you are not willing. But then, you won't be able to help Lord Shiva who got into this mess because He helped you. They would even say Brahma lost His head because of this woman and didn't even win Her in the end" - waaay too much coaxing for a person who still hasn't understood who She really is. Saraswati, eventually agrees to marry Brahma.
Narad calls out to Lord Brahma and He appears (still one-headed - probably to avoid the confusion of the number of garlands for the serial 🤢). Indra creates a couple of garlands and Brahma and Saraswati become husband and wife by garlanding each other. After She had put the garland on Brahma's neck, She remembered Her true self and realised that She was given to Brahma to be His consort and help Him with creation. Brahma is happy to have His wife back. Narad and the Devas suggest that Devi Saraswati has to try to remove the curse from lord Shiva. (The Ganas and Sadhus seem to have disappeared.) Brahma and Saraswati come across Lord Shiva who is wandering and asking for alms. Shiva is happy that the issue is resolved between the two of them and they have reunited. He wishes them all happiness and is about to leave when Brahma stops Him saying that Saraswati wants to try and help. But again the skull devours all the grains that falls from Saraswati's hands. Saraswati is distressed that She wasn't able to help. Lord Shiva says that even if Brahma has changed, His skull still doesn't want to leave its own arrogance and departs from there.
The scene changes - a sage is chanting 'Om Namah Sivaayah!' in his hut. A maiden comes in and bows down to him addressing him as father. He opens his eyes and is happy on seeing his beautiful daughter. From the conversation that follows it is evident that the sage is Kaatyayana and She is Goddess Parvati incarnate, Kaatyayani (Annapoorna story coming up!). The sage says that he wishes to be with Her forever but he knows that can't happen. He also says that he is happy to have got Her as his daughter and he desires no more. Narad and Indra appear in the hut and pay their respects to both Sage Kaatyayana and his daughter. They inform Kaatyayani that Her husband is in trouble. With Her divine sight She is sees Shiva roaming in Bhairava form begging for alms. She is shocked to see Him thus. Narad and Indra explain the problem and say only She will be able to free Lord Shiva of the curse. Kaatyayani bows down to Her father and asks him to show Her the way. The sage closes his eyes and holds out his hands. A golden vessel appears. He gives it to his daughter and tells Her to go to Kaasi and provide food for everyone there - not only those who are from that place but also to everyone who comes there. He also says that the vessel is called Akshaya Paathiram - no matter how much food is taken out, it will never go empty. When asked why the sage specifically directs his daughter to Kaasi, he says that Kaasi is suffering from a severe famine even when Ganga flows through it. Hence, She should go there. Kaatyayani obtains Her father's blessing and takes his leave. She also informs Narad and Indra to direct Lord Shiva to Kaasi.
End of the episode. Though we can guess what will happen next, I'll still post the story after watching the episode next week. I didn't know both these stories were connected till I watched this.
