New question: in Gurmina's blog, he writes

Pushkar has the only temple of Brahma.

According to hindu mythology. Lord Brahma got married twice so his previous wife left him nd cursed him that he will hv only one temple of his... Nd that nobody wud offer him any offering.

This is the first time I'm reading this. Brahma had another wife? The reason he's not worshipped is the story in the Shiva purana about how he lied to Vishnu about claiming to have attained the peak of the tower of fire.

Somewhat related, is Saraswati generally recognized as Brahma's wife or daughter?

From the bits I've read from the translation of Bhavishya Purana:

Bhavishya Purana deals with what will happen in the future. It is the Legends of the Future put together in one book. The only issue is finding an authentic translation / copy. Some versions tend to add a lot more than what was in the actual book.

According to Bhavishya Purana, the devotion of devotees will degrade, various religions will also lose its form and people will believe in one God. It also says that the society will also lose its structure and believe that everyone is equal.

In one of the explanations I read, it is said that even remembering or saying the Lord's name will deliver us from trouble. In Satya Yuga, living beings had to do penances for many many years to please the Lord. In Tretha Yuga, the people were able to obtain boons by a few years of meditation, and by other activities like yagas, yagnas, yaagas, charity, etc. In Dwapar Yuga, it was possible by worshiping with devotion and doing yaagas, etc. and charity. In Kali Yuga, it is sufficient to remember and say the Lord's name(s).

Sometimes, the Lord will ask the Devas to take be born as humans and live as devotees.

It also speaks of Kalki's birth, life and conquests.

Sorry, for responding so late. It took a while to collect my thoughts 😳

I've always heard of Saraswati being referred to as Brahma's consort.

Recently, I saw this in a Tamil Serial. Don't know if its true as that was the first time I came across this story (version). Will try to find more information.

The story is as follows:

Brahma in the ancient days used to have 5 heads. He became arrogant as He had as many heads as Shiva does and due to the fact that creating the universe was given to Him.

Once, Indra came to Brahma Loka to invite Lord Brahma to be the guest of honour in a yaaga he was going to perform for the good of the world. Brahma was happy as He was going to be the guest of honour. As Indra was about to take his leave, Devarishi Narad appears. He says he came to prevent a huge calamity. As Brahma and Indra look at him confused, Narad says, "To participate, perform or be the chief proprietor of a yaaga, one cannot be single. Thus, a person without his wife cannot do so. In case a person does it, the yaaga will go waste. As my mother Devi Saraswati has left my father Brahma Dev, He cannot be the chief guest (using this term for lack of a better one) for any yaaga."

Indra muses about how Devi Saraswati left Lord Brahma due to a fight/quarrel. Due to His ego, Brahma Dev had a huge quarrel with his consort Devi Saraswati. The goddess was so fed up that she left Lord Brahma and became a river named Saraswati on the Earth.

Indra then asks what could be the solution for this problem. Narad suggests they all ask Lord Vishnu about it. Hence, they all visit Lord Vishnu in Vaikuntha.

Lord Vishnu says that what Narad had said is true and says that Brahma Dev would also know and acknowledge this fact. Brahma Dev says he agrees. Further, Vishnu says that only Devi Saraswati's body had been turned into a river. Her spirit would still be free, roaming in the cosmos. So there is still a chance for Brahma Dev to be with his wife.

This scene in the middle made me 🤣 Devi Lakshmi was worried about Devi Saraswati regarding her plight. Lord Vishnu, on the other hand was amused. When asked why, He replied, "As Brahma Dev had appeared from my navel, he is like my son. So, Devi Saraswati is like your daughter-in-law. I'm surprised to see a mother-in-law worry about her daughter-in-law like this." 😆

Brahma Dev asks Lord Vishnu what could be the solution. Lord Vishnu says, that Brahma Dev is the God of creation. He can create a beautiful form of a girl and get the soul of Devi Saraswati to reside in it. Lord Vishnu also warns Brahma Dev that He shouldn't rush things. Since this woman would be created by Him, She is like His daughter. He should give Her time to come to terms and realise Herself. Brahma Dev should give this new Sarasawati time to know her true self. Till then, She is to be Lord Brahma's daughter. When She realises her true nature, Lord Brahma can marry her. The moment She garlands Brahma Dev, She will remember everything.

Brahma Dev agrees to this and leaves. Indra also takes his leave. Devi Lakshmi wonders if these events could be a new leela. Vishnu says through Narad, we have started a chain of events that will lead Brahma Dev away from the path of arrogance. He has been arrogant as He has 5 heads like Lord Shiva. Its time for Him to realise the truth. Narad says its been too long without Mata Saraswati. He too wishes to see his mother soon.

The episode ended there. I've to wait for the next. I'll post the remaining story next week after I have watched it (its telecast only once a week).

I also came across another story long ago - in an argument between Lakshmi and Saraswati. Lakshmi jeers at Saraswati saying she has many temples on the Earth but Saraswati does not. Saraswati in turn replies that she does not want temples on the world which does not have any temples of her Lord Brahma. A nice scene from a Tamil movie (forgot its name - must be either Mupperum Deviar (The Three Great Goddesses) or Kalvia, Selvama, Veerama? (Wisdom or Wealth or Courage?)) - they both argued through Narad 😆 both of them speaking to Narad but actually addressing each other.

Thanks for this story, as well as the previous answer. I can't wait for this to continue.

I was thinking - since River Saraswati no longer exists on earth, can it be said that she's back w/ Brahma again?

I am waiting for the next episode too.

Saraswati is back with Brahma again but I really don't know about the river. It was said that it became an underground river or something - not sure.

Continuing the story:

The next episode was a mess and they dragged it too much 😡. They didn't finish it yet 👎🏼

Lord Brahma thinking over what Lord Vishnu had said, created a beautiful woman. He was mesmerised by the woman's beauty. He remembered Lord Vishnu's words on letting the new Saraswati learn who She is step by step. Saraswati on the other hand, is confused and looks around asking questions like "Where is this place?" and "Who am I?" Brahma calls Her Kalaivaani and She turns asking "Who is Kalaivaani?" On seeing Her, Brahma looses it completely and pours out a torrent of information saying She is the Goddess of Wisdom and Learning and that He is Her consort. Aghast on hearing this, She tries to reason out with Brahma saying "What you're saying is totally wrong. How can I be your wife? This is wrong." Brahma doesn't listen. She tries to get away by saying that He is not comely - He is very old and has 5 heads. Brahma doesn't listen and says, "You're new to all this. When you know yourself, you'll understand everything. Let us get married now! The moment you garland me you'll remember everything!" Saraswati runs away from there.

Saraswati is not wandering in the sky trying to escape Brahma. She runs into the Devas who wonder who She is. She pleads with them to help her and saver her. Indra says that She is Mata Saraswati. Saraswati is confused on why they were addressing Her mother when she is way younger than them. They tell Her that She is like their mother but then ask Her why She was calling for help. She says that a guy was bothering her and following her everywhere. When the Devas look up, they see Brahma Dev. They laugh and tell Saraswati that She is His consort. Saraswati is dumbfounded and berates herself for asking followers of Brahma for help. She asks if there is no one who can help her. The Devas direct her to Lord Vishnu. Lord Brahma too acknowledges that Lord Vishnu would be able to convince her.

In Vaikuntha, she encounters the same situation. Sri Hari says, that in time She will understand. But Saraswati is adamant that she doesn't want to marry Brahma Dev. On seeing Brahma Dev come into Vaikuntha, She runs away from there too. Lord Vishnu tells Brahma Dev, "Because of your haste, you have scared her too much. Now, even I am not able to predict what will happen."

Saraswati is wandering in the skies again. She meets Narad who addresses her as "Mata". She asks if She was 'mother' to him too. Narad says, "Usually, its the mother who will recognise her children even if the kids don't recognise her. But here, its just the opposite." He then asks her why she looks distressed. She explains again about Brahma Dev wanting to marry Her and that no one has helped her so far. "Everyone keeps telling me that I should marry him and he keeps following me everywhere. Isn't there anyone who can help me?"

Narad says only Lord Shiva can help her. He goes on and on (yes, nearly 15 mins of screening time - spoke about all the stories related to Shiva no matter the chronological order) about Lord Shiva's greatness. (When Narad Says Lord Shiva has 5 heads, Saraswati responds, "What!?! He has 5 heads too?"). Saraswati is astounded by Lord Shiva's greatness and goes to Kailash.

In Kailash, Lord Shiva was pleased on hearing Nandi's, the ganas and Kabaalis praising Him. Saraswati comes running with arms stretched and goes down on Her knees begging for protection. Lord Shiva promised Her that He would protect Her no matter what. She begins to tell Her story but Lord Shiva says, that He will grant Her protection and that He was aware of Her plight.

Now Brahma is wandering the skies in search of Saraswati. He meets Narad who tells Him that She is under Lord Shiva's protection. Brahma is blinded by His ego and goes to Kailash angrily.

A huge drama ensues - with Brahma insulting Shiva and Shiva telling Brahma that He was blinded by His own foolishness, arrogance and ego. Finally, when Brahma went too far, Lord Shiva became so angered, that He assumed a ferocious form (Kaala Bhairava) and holds Brahma's throat (or rather, one of His necks - the middle one). (Actually, they show Shiva dancing in anger and all the worlds feeling it before Shiva went for Brahma's throat.).

That's where it ended. Probably the next episode will be better. 😔 😵

Ok, this story seems more logical than the others I heard, where Mahadev randomly hurls his trishul @ Brahma, severing his 5th head. I would wonder - why would Mahadev interfere in something b/w Brahma & Saraswati? But it would make more sense if Saraswati herself took refuge in him.

Maybe Saraswati had a problem w/ his grey beard - had Brahma made himself as handsome as Vishnu, he might have had a better chance. Other thing he could have done - created another goddess and hope she'd not flee him. Or better yet, ask Vishnu or Shiva to create one, so that it wouldn't look like him trying to 'marry his daughter'.

You're right about that. Saraswati (according to this story) did not want to marry Brahma because He looked too old and from what She heard, Brahma was like a father figure.

Also, according to this story, Brahma was using Saraswati's spirit for creating this new Goddess, hence creating another one wasn't possible.

I don't know if the other Gods would take up the work of creation - did Lord Shiva or Lord Vishnu create? I thought they frequently exchanged protection and destruction work but creation?
