Jai Shree Krishna!
Sabhaku Namasaakaram!
(which means 'Namaskaar to everyone gathered here' in Telugu😆)
So today we covered Shri Krishna Episodes 29-31, which spanned the rest of Radha and Krishna's Leelas as well as began Kans's plan to eliminate Krishna.
Continuing from where we left off last time, Radha and Krishna up in Golok persist in their little debate about love being an illusion. Krishna compares love to a dream and claims that love is neither truth nor untruth, but Radharani says that love is the foundation of the universe and without it, the world would end, so it cannot be an untruth, and neither can it be an illusion. Krishna praises the way in which Radha wins over his argument and asks her how he can repay her debt. Radha tells him that he must feel love and its pain like her, and only then can he be free of her debt. Krishna promises her that he will incarnate on Earth in the Kali Yug with Krishna's body but Radha's heart, and from Navdeep to Vrindavan he will constantly be chanting Krishna's name and longing for him (Chaitanya Mahaprabhu). Radhaji then requests Krishna to teach her the flute, so that she can make him feel as restless as he always does her, and only then will he truly feel the pangs of love as Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
Down in Golok, younger Radha echo's Golok Radha's request and asks Krishna to teach her the flute, so that she can sleep peacefully at night. Once she learns, she will always beckon to him by its tune and never let him sleep like he never lets her. Krishna agrees and promises to buy a flute for her tomorrow. Radha asks him why she cannot play this. Krishna endearingly replies, "You want a flute that will awaken only Krishna, while my flute once played will awaken the entire universe. Everyone who is in love with me will come here once it is played." Radha becomes indignant by his reply and tells him that it is his vanity which is making him speak this way. Who will love him more than Radha? An amused Krishna tells her, "Now it is you who is showing vanity, and vanity is the enmity if love." Radha retorts that what he considers vanity is the right of love. One who loves has the right to ask for her right. Krishna again tells her, "One should not ask in love but give." Radha gets further angered and draws a line around him. She then makes a vow that only she who loves Krishna as much as her would be able to cross it. She challenges Krishna to prove that his Gopis' love is true. A still amused Krishna picks up his flute and begins playing a melancholy raag which inwardly stops all the Gopis in the middle of their housework no matter where they are in Barsana. Their Sukshma Roop (shadow form) goes to the banks of the Yamuna river where Radha and Krishna are and they all together cross Radhaji's line.
Watch the Episode here:
Realizing her mistake and feeling her pride dissolve, Radha begs Krishna for his forgiveness and guiltily claims that she has been defeated that day. Krishna tells her she is once again mistaken. Radha can never be defeated, because her love is pure, strong, and eternal. He then tells her to look more closely at the Gopis of whom she is jealous, and when she does she sees that her face is reflected on all the Gopis' faces. Krishna tells her that the Gopis are none other than expansions of her, and that he sees her only in all of them. All the lovers in the world are Radha and Krishna, because true love and RadhaKrishna are synonymous.
Radha and Krishna revert to their original positions as Krishna then continues to explain about dwait and adwait. Dwait (dualism) and Adwait (non-dualism) go hand in hand. Dwait is hidden in Adwait, and Adwait in Dwait. All the beings in the world who look different in terms of race, color, gender, etc are not different at all...they are nothing but Radha and Krishna. Every single being in the world, both living and non-living, is Radha and Krishna. Radha then tells Krishna with a loving smile, "The love between Radha and Krishna is different, or how else would the universe survive?" Krishna agrees that love is the basis of the universe, and just then they both hear the devoted voice of Saint Surdas singing about the divine love between Krishna and Radha, Re Manva...Prem Jagat Ka Saar, and they feel a surge of love for this blind devotee of theirs who knows nothing but reverence to them.

We are then taken to Gargacharya's ashram where Akrurji has come to visit him, but before that I would like to comment on this above episode, one of my most favorite ones in SK.😍 I really really loved Golok Krishna and Radha's little debate about love and illusion. SDB did really good in this part, and so did Reshma.👏 I also learned something new in this episode, the story of why Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was born and how he repaid his debt to Radharani through his suffering and love for Krishna. The way Radhaji explained why Krishna was forever in her debt, and why he would never be able to repay it in his original form, was really enlightening and interesting. And back in Bhulok, the entire Radha Garva Bhangam scenes was just soooo well taken.👏 Krishna's lessons on how love is about giving and not asking, how pride has no place in love, and the entire Dwait-Adwait conversation, everything was just so beautifully explained and enacted by Swapnil and Shweta.😍 And the flute tune that Makhan Chor Krishna played, as well as Ashok and now Swapnil in this scene, is my utmost favorite tune in the entire serial and I listen to it at least twice or thrice everyday in my mp3 player, it's so lilting, devotional, and makes me feel like Krishna is with me wherever I go.☺️ One thing I did not like.....they changed the actress who played Lalitha in my moserbaer DVD set. I know she comes back later when Krishna takes leave of the Gopis, but the substitute the editors of the new DVD sets temporarily used in this scene looked over 35 and so not as sweet and loveable as the original Lalitha Sakhi. They also changed Visakha and a few other Gopis, but as they were never given much prominence in the serial before, it's forgiveable.😳 And now since I just cannot wait any longer, let's move on to the Gargacharya and Akrurji scene.😃
Basically, Akrurji has come to Gargacharya's ashram to talk to him about Krishna and Balram's education. He and the Yadav chiefs are troubled by the long rule of Kans and are wondering when their taranhaar will bring an end to the tyrant's life. To be able to defeat such a strong King as Kans (though honestly, he seemed like a dimwitted weakling to me😆....Chanoor was more intimidating), Krishna and Balram will need to be educated in war and politics. An amused Gargacharya tells Akrur that it is not yet time for Krishna's education, and that he is enjoying his Prem Leelas at the moment. When Akrur looks dubious and askanced at this, feeling that such 'romance shmomance' is a waste of time in the face of such urgency, Gargacharya explains to him the beauty and importance of love. He tells Akrur that Krishna is Purnavatar, and that he will teach people to live a complete life with both love and politics. At the moment, he is teaching the world about love and politics has no place in it. Akrur claims that love is all good in its place, but what need is there for it in today's politics? Gargacharya explains to him that the world does not run on politics, that love is the support of the universe and without it, all of creation would collapse. Devotion begins with love, and love completes life. Shri Krishna will teach humans that living is an art, and one must love to live. Just then, the blind poet Surdas arrives at the ashram.
Surdas requests Gargacharya to bless him with just a momentary glimpse of sight so that he can behold Krishna's human form. Gargacharya asks him who taught him his song, and Surdas replies that no one did. He merely expresses his feelings in words, and in his mind's eye he can see a small boy grow from infancy to youth. Gargacharya affectionately tells him that even after years of penance, sages and seers cannot see this Bal Roop of Krishna, and Surdas is so fortunate to behold it himself. Surdas then asks him whether he will get salvation after his current life, and Gargacharya tells him that no, he will not, because he will be needed in the Kali Yug. When devotion begins to lack, he will have to sing his songs and rekindle people's faith in the Lord. He will achieve salvation after teaching millions of people about God. An overjoyed Surdas thanks him over and over again for telling him this, because he has just been given another chance to serve the Lord. What more could he ask for?
After Surdas leaves, Akrur realizes the importance of love (as manifested in Surdas) and decides to give Shri Krishna some time to exhibit his prem leelas before worrying again about his education. Clearly, the time has not yet come for Kans's demise...though it is near.
I really love this part of the episode a lot, the way Gargacharya begins his discourse by saying, "Krishna's education is hidden in his flute..." he is clearly trying to show Akrur that Krishna is the Guru of the Universe, what education does he need?😆 Akrur also made a good point when he said, "One must not sit using faith as an excuse, he must act as per his duty." Shri Krishna himself displayed this throughout his avatar, as well as every one of his other avatars. But I loved Gargacharya's reply even more, when he says, "Thinking of the divine power gives us strength to act. We do not become restless, because we know Karma will eventually play out...the right time has just not come yet." We can relate with Akrur's anxiety, as it must not have been easy being forced to be so submissive to Kans and not having the power to do anything about it, but the way Gargacharya not only reassures him but us as well, that we must never act out of urgency when faced with adversity, but wait for the right time and then act....it is one of the most important life lessons.😍
What happens after that is a quick succession of RadheKrishna scenes, with the Gopis and Radha all performing a Gauri Puja to seek the husband of their hearts (i.e. Krishna). Gauri Ma is pleased with their prayers and appears to them in her real form. The Golok Roop of Radharani appears in front of Gauri Ma and asks the divine mother to fulfill her heart's desire in being united with Shri Krishna. Gauri Ma tells her that she (Radha) is the mother of the universe and yet she acts like a simple human girl who is anxious for a union with her beloved. Gauri Ma blesses all the Gopis and tells them that their heart's desire will come true soon.

After that, the Gopis all wait for the full moon day and assemble at the banks of the Yamuna river when they hear the call of Krishna's flute. Krishna appears before them, takes many forms when he realizes that all the Gopis wish for him, and dances the Maharaas Leela with them. Krishna is shown as the Paramatma while Radhaji as the Jeevatma, and this union between God and soul is exalted by all three worlds and all the Devtas alike.

There is really not much to say about the above scenes, as we all watched them soooo many times and love them to pieces for the sheer devotion and magnitude of the scenes. But they are definitely re-watchable and every time we see them (at least for me), they are only sweeter and more meaningful.😳 I just love the scene where Gauri Ma appears and speaks privately with Radharani, their conversation was so sweet and the lady who played Gauri Ma was really beautiful and serene. She was the same one who played Yogmaya, right? Or am I wrong?😳 Anyhow, I hope you all are enjoying my SK journey with me. We are just about done with the RadheKrishna phase, as Akrur is soon about to be sent to Gokul to fetch Krishna and bring him to Kans. The next entry will begin with Kans's unrest.
Till then....
🤗Jai RadheKrishna!🤗
Love,
Janu
