I can give examples of many performances where II singers have sung the same song better than those on the other shows & vice versa.
If only we could stop having a frog in the well attitude we can see that there is a beautiful world beyond as well.

Maybe Shaan is jealous that II Rocks & SVOI doesn't 😊
I think the highest drama is in SRGMP.SVOI also has its share.
Yeah he's a big jealous guy!!! Indian Idol 3 rocks, koi kuch bhi kahe!!!!!!! You go anywhere in the world, you ask people which singing reality show you watch, they say Indian Idol 3!!!😉

Indeed. This is not just about national shows. For example if you take the UK, where I live, and ask what reality do you watch most people will say Indian Idol even if this they don't watch it since that is how popular this show is nationally and internationally. I asked my aunt the other day (she only has Star Plus) do you watch SVOI? She was like which channel does this air on and what is it about? I said it is like Indian Idol and she said, "ooooooohhh, so does this come on Sony?"😆 I replied, "urhh on star!!" She didn't even know that such a show was being aired but she knew about Indian Idol.
As far as Indian Idol and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is concerned then we have to take into consideration that Indian Idol is doing extremly well on a Sony which is #3 in terms of TRPs where as Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is on the leading channel Zee. Despite this, Indian Idol is giving Sa Re Ga Ma Pa tough competition unlike SVOI.

I don't know about SVOI, but it seems like SRGMP fans have some sort of superiority complex when it comes to comparing it with II. Like, about a week ago, Aneek sang "Kal Ho Na Ho," and under one of his youtube videos of it, I wrote a comment saying that while it was excellent, I think Emon did a better job...
needless to say, I got a ton of "Emon is no match for Aneek", "Aneek doesn't copy Sonu," "Emon suxx just like everyone in Indian Idol" and "go back to your stupid teeny bopper show- this is a real singing competition" 😆
The same thing happened with Raja when he sang Teeri Deewani. I felt that that was one of Raja's weakest performances, and Emon did a MUCH better job than him. But still, there were similar comments against Emon!
I really love both shows, and I do feel that overall, SRGMP has much better singers, (I have trouble choosing a single favorite just because they're all soooo good!) but some of the better singers on II (like Emon, Deepali, Amit, and maybe Puja) would probably be singing just as well if not better had they been given one on one training for each song by Ismail Darbar, Bappi Lairi, or whoever.
I really wish that SRGMP fans wouldn't have such an annoying superiority complex and get offended at any mention of someone on II3 singing a song better...

I agree with you but what Shaan said is also right. I mean when you think about it are all the singers who were in the contest this year fit for playback. In the other shows, every contestant seems to be good for playback. The format of the show has to be blamed. Last year the focus was on looking for a playback singer- everyone was judged from that perspective. This year it's more like a Pop idol.
Yes they are amateurs but do they get guidance from mentors who are music directors and singers. Will someone giving you a standing ovation or singing alongwith you or saying you sang bad, improve your singing in the next round.
It is true that Emon sounded better then Aneek in Kal ho na ho and better then Raja in teri dewaani. As a listener with no knowledge about music I felt so. Even Puja's Ni main samaj gayi was better then the other shows. I wonder if the other show contestants could sing a mera piya ghar aaya like Deepali and perform at the same time. Even Amit's voice quality is comparable to other shows.
Nowdays I even see Saregama contestants performing and SVOI singers trying to perform, so what happened to their criteria of giving only singing importance.
