I haven't read all the posts preceding mine so I may retouch some points. This year on II3, especially for the girls, alot of teenagers were chosen. Now they may be adorable, but some older contestants like Aisha Sayed lost out because of this. She did have a more mature and trained voice. Puja and Deepali were absolutely fine to make it to the top, but I would have rather seen Vanita or Rashmi make it rather than Ankita and Richa. They did have more rich, mature voices. Yes, VOI has the best singers period. Irfan, Toshi, and Abhilasha are amazing period. It is good that singers like Amanat and Poonam are in SRGMP because they really do focus on singing, but they have also started putting more into their performances. They are the anthesis of the Idol prototype. But quite frankly Amit is amazing without training. In fact Sonu told him not even the best of singers can sing in sur without background music and how he complemented him of singing in high pitch without making his voice thinner. The guy focues and sings very well. Bulla Ki Jana last week was amazing, and I have heard it sung on so many reality shows, but it was so much better than when Vinit or Aneek sang it. Yup, I am going to be bashed for that. Emon is amazing at 17 and not can just sing Chaudhvin ki Chand with the essence of the original but plays the keyboards, guitar, and drums. One cannot say he is an amateur anything. Chang can be not considered the greatest singer, but he had a very charismatic personality and distinctive voice. Without Indian Idol 3, he would not have been introduced, and I would never have read his blog and developed a crush on him for his mad writing skills 😃. But the best thing about Idol is that there is less drama than the other shows seriously. Yes, there are some bits here and there. But it is not to the extent of Himesh in SRGMP or it going to the extent of Alka calling Aadesh BC. In Idol the teasing is mostly playful. Not all the time but most of the time. But gosh does the voting system suck the most on Idol?
