It seems Javed Akhtar is supporting Ankita solely for gender bias. As someone said to imply a gender bias on the basis of individual preferences is, in my opinion, a bit of a stretch. I mean if I like reading books written by women, more than books written by male, does that mean gender bias? Or if I prefer the color red to white, does that mean I'm color biased? Its stupid, really, we all have our own preferances. And I'm sure most of us voted for Emon/Amit/Prashant more than for Ankita because we liked them, not because we thought "Ok Emon is a guy, that means a vote for him." I don't think any of us solely voted for a contestant just coz he's a guy. And it makes me question his credibility as a judge. Suppose imagine if the top 4 were deepali, puja, ankita and emon? Would he still be championing for ankita to stay in the competition? Or would it be emon?
Also I did not like the way JA conducted himself today, because he does have an opinion, but he does not have to be so demoralizing and pessimistic, when sonu nigam himself praised emon, how can he insult emon on the basis of the fact that he sings like Sonu Nigam when infact yesterday Emon completely proved his criticism wrong with his dil bar mere performance. The problem I had with his opinion infact was, instead of giving points on why ankita should be kept in Indian Idol, he took the opportunity more to INSULT emon on his singing skills. Whereas the other judges basically said "ankita is good at this and this and this, emon is good at that, this comp is based on that, so he's my choice" Javed akhtar was more like "Ankita is amazing at this, emon is bad at everything and he will never be a singer so ankita's my choice" I don't like it when a judge (especially a judge) puts another contestant down just to prove some other contestant as better.
