Today is classical round. I haven't watched the promo, but no expectations. Hope nobody attempts "poochon na kaise maine rain beetayee"❤️ And am sure nobody will attempt Kuhu Kuhu.😆

Pandit Jasraj is the guest judge. Lets see what he has to say.

I really did not have too many expectations from her..have seen her as guest judge before on other talent shows and she was as insipid and detached then as she is now.

Of course no one would attempt "Poocho na kaise" or "Kuhu Kuhu"! They'd pee in their pants if they're told to!! 😛

Well to be frank she had only negative or completely non-musical things to say abt...hmm.
In contrast to this, Lata ji is more forthcoming. She has admitted that she considered Geeta Dutt as her closest competitor.etc etc. I have read a book where she has mentioned a lot of things abt Madan Mohan, Mukesh, Kishoreda, Pancham and a bit abt Rafi SaabThese two sisters have a sea of experiences and anecdotes amongst them. Why not share it??? Now I am beginning to rant..

Rafi's death anniversary and Kishoreda's birth anniversary (4.08). Both must be celebrated. Rafi was before the late 60's and Kishore from then on. Focus on the positive. Lata, Mukesh, Asha, Rafi and Kishore Kumar etc were legends. We are fortunate that we have such quality to listen to.

It is a well known fact that Lata and Rafi had a difference of openion in 1963 with royality issue which went on till 1967. Their relationship was never the same again. Though during his times Rafi was like God to many, but most of them are gone. Then came the era of Kishore and RD. They were of similar age and hence were friends. Kishore did had a lot of respect for Rafi, if you follow his concerts he would always sing a couple of Rafi songs, but ever since Kishore died and then Panchamda, now with only greats like Asha and Lata remaining, people would like to think as they do and their preferance for Kishore was more than Rafi was not for musical reasons.

Great discussion on, sakshi and liz👏

Just want to add one thing. Rafi saabs voice is divine . No living soul can dare sing his songs. Even the best will never be a patch on this humble, simple soul.We are blessed to hear his singing.

There!!!! 4th august was remembered but 31st july wasn't.
And to put Salim right, Rafi Saab has yodeled in not less than 3 songs Salim might not know about it but being a judge he should be careful abt what he is speaking. Speaking with such authority that no other singer could yodel. Nothing to take away from Kishoreda, As I said earlier I love him too.

You're absolutely right. I have high regards for Salim as a composer and a singer. Yes if he doesnt know the background of it he shouldn't be even talking about it. Rafi Sahab yodelled in 1948 in the movie Raju Reporter. Here is the link for it. http://youtu.be/x01ttwKaeDw

And as far as Kishore da is concerned he's a legend as well. He always had great great regards for rafi sahab. The year rafi sahab passed away, he didnt celebrated his birthday cause he was in a deep shock while Lata ji had to take sleepings for no. years cause she couldn't believe it.

As far as not talking about Rafi Sahab is concerned. I have to say both rafi sahab and lata ji are institutions and can't be matched with Asha ji or Kishore da who are legends. If you notice we dont see people giving anymore tributes to lata ji or Rafi sahab. Its because they already know what kinda singers they were.

Celebrating 50s and 60s. All songs sung were of Rafi Saab and no mention of him. Great show indeed.😃

And for sure Asha ji had only negative things to say abt a genius who has passed on.OP was egositic and used to stand on the gate so as not to allow the late-comers in. Okay, but there is also an instance that shows his genius. In one such similar incident when all the musicians came late, OP recorded one of his all time super hit songs, may be his best, with only a harmonium and a dholak for company. Actually he didn't need anybody else to make his songs hits, other than Rafi Sahab.😉
So the moment he had a fallout with Rafi Sahab was the moment of his downfall.

They are yet to cover Naushad Sahab. Ashaji can certainly allow his mention, bcz he has given her some very very good songs. Also Roshan Sahab and Chitragupt has not yet been mentioned.

BTW dear Sunidhi ji ," laga chunari mein daag" is not composed by Shankar-jaikishan,but by Roshan.

Great...was just waiting to post this..but you beat me to it 😃...

And how do they justify a tribute to 4 of the greatest music directors by a measly 3 songs that don't even begin to cover the range that these virtuosos are capable of!!!????

Madan Mohan!!! SDB!!! Shankar-Jaikishan!!! OP!!! Each one an institution unto themselves!!!

And the choice of songs was bewildering, to say the least!

Yeah..they left out Naushad, Roshan, Chitragupt, Salil Chowdhary, Jaidev, C. Ramchandra. Hemant Kumar made some pretty good music too...

About Ashaji..the less said the better... sigh!
