Hey guys as we know Rafi sahab's 31st death anniversary is on 31st july. So do you guys think it will be a good idea of giving a tribute to the legendary singer may be like in the elimination round. I've always wanted a reality show like this to dedicate a complete episode on Rafi Sahab, and I think this is the ideal time to remember him and his blockbuster songs especially when Asha tai is on the judges panel.

I would be surprised if Asha ji talks with genuine admiration about Rafi Sahab. She may come up with politically correct sentences, but genuine admiration??? Difficult. She has forgotten about one Nayyar Sahab. She hardly ever talks in glowing terms abt Rafi Sahab. All she remembers is RDB and Kishoreda.
My point is if you want to pay tribute to Rafi Sahab, get a Rafian on board. Plenty of them.Pyarelal ji would be a great start. From Asha Tai you can only expect cliched lines. Yup but Annu ji could compensate. He convinced Rafi Sahab to sing for him when he was only 19. And I think Rafi Sahab's second last song is Annu's "lagi lag jaaye logon".

Sorry did not want to write this post but just could'nt control myself.

TSakshi ji, I'm glad that we have someone to open up this talk about OP nayyar sahab and Asha ji. Everybody knows that Nayyar sahab was the one who promoted Ashaji when she was not known at all. She used to get playback for grade 3 songs othewise. Nayyar sahab played an important role in her career. She must not forget that. I have never heard her talking about OP Nayyar sahab.
She admires Puncham because she was married to her and its all fair.
O. P. Nayyar gave Asha a break in C.I.D.(1956). She first achieved success in B. R. Chopra's Naya Daur (1957), composed by him. Her duets with Rafi like "Maang Ke Saath Tumhara", "Saathi Haath Badhana" and "Uden Jab Jab Zulfein Teri", penned by Sahir Ludhianvi, earned her recognition. It was the first time she sang all the songs for a film's leading actress. Chopra approached her for several of his later prosuctions, including Gumrah(1963), Waqt (1965), Hamraaz (1965), Aadmi Aur Insaan(1966) and Dhund (1973). Nayyar's future collaboration with Bhosle also resulted in success. Gradually, she established her status and received the patronage of such composers as Sachin Dev Burman and Ravi. Asha Bhosle and Nayyar had a professional and personal parting of ways in the 1970s.
I haven't written this post to offend anyone or to insult Asha ji. These are the hard facts. I mean to say is that we must not forget our roots and someone's good deeds and favours.

Jas ji,

I too do not mean to talk bad abt anybody, least of all Asha ji. Its just that she is not the right person to give a tribute to Rafi Sahab, though she may have sung maximum duets with him.
I was only talking from this perspective.

To call spade a spade, there existed camps and she belongs to the opposite camp. Why not call Pyarelel ji, if II intentions are genuine. He calls Rafi Sahab a farishta.

Coming to Indian Idol, better they do not give tribute to anybody. Did you watch Rajesh Khanna special? They had a very good speaker and a childhood friend in Jeetendra there. Did they allow him to speak even two lines? That was the right time, the entire nation along with Jeetu ji was in mourning. If given a chance we could have had lots of anecdotes. But no, we had Hussain and Mini reading out stuff that is easily available on wiki.😡. Asha ji againg remembered RD and Kishoreda. Nothing abt Kaka.
Frankly was that a tribute?

BTW Asha has sung as many songs for composer Ravi ji.
also. I was looking forward to what she had to say abt him. But either she did not speak enough or she was edited out.

There were lots of occasions when she could have emphasised abt Rafi Sahab, but she chooses to keep quiet. Our bad luck.

All of you guys, I admire your comments. I'm glad you guys are sharing your thoughts. I absolutely agree with you guys. Asha tai usually dont talk about Rafi sahab nor O.P. Nayyar sahab. I mean if you are on twitter, go check it out her tweet of last year of 31st July. She could have tweeted alot about rafi sahab that his fans would be interested in, but she talked about rafi sahab's favorite cologne lol...

I would love to see Pyare lal ji to talk about rafi sahab. And to be honest, I will be disappointed and surprised if the dont talk about rafi sahab at all cause in a singing contest like this, whats better than to talk about the legend.

As far as the contestants singing the songs are concerned. I believe they should sing songs of Rafi sahab's cause he is one singer who has sang all kinds of genre.

TSakshi ji,
I don't know if its our bad luck ot what? Not only Asha ji, I have not seen anybody admiring Rafi sahab on these so called reality shows. India will never ever see or hear a singer of Rafi sahab's class. He was the only one in this universe. We are lucky to enjoy his voice today. No singer will ever achieve that voice softness and modulation.
I think it costs lot of money to bring Pyrelal ji as a guest Judge, LOL. I heard Asha ji charged 5 caror for being a judge last time.
