I don't get why the performances are not equally divided between all contestants? Some sing 2 to 4 songs and others none to chorus. This whole nonsense started after they manipulated the guests or excuses for pawan and Danish to sing multiple songs. How can people vote fairly? They should go back to each contestant singing 2 songs in every episode and cut down on neha's nautanki completely. We see her reaction and lipsync during half of the show literally. After all these years the cuteness is turned into major annoyance

And about SMP, the channel has faced severe backlash recently. Right from the beginning of the promotions, Sony used SMP, Anjali, Danish, Sireesha and Ashish to promote the show, which were their clear top 5.

But for the first time, the audience rejected the hyped ones for Arunita, Pawandeep, Sayli (newly emerged contender), Nachiket and Danish. And Nachiket's elimination pissed off alot of people.

Thats why Vishal is forced to complement Sayli, call her Idol winner etc.

I don’t entirely agree with this. Pawandeep has literally been hyped since the very beginning of the show and Sayli was the only one given a golden mike in auditions aside from SMP. Sireesha was one of the last to get MBD, I remember that people used to be upset that her performances like Yeh Haseen Vadiyan didn’t get recognized. I think Danish took a few weeks to get super hyped as well. I agree with your assessment of Ashish and SMP.

Even if I’m not a SMP fan I agree she should’ve gotten more focus today. I don’t think bhajans would be hard at all for her considering she has been trained in Carnatic since childhood. I’m sure she still practices classical songs even if she sticks to Western-influenced tracks onstage.

Anjali is totally being sidelined for a few weeks now. Feel really bad for her, everyone should be given equal chances to prove themselves :(

Frankly, it doesn’t matter who wins.
If u look at the past Indian idol history or for that matter any of the singing reality shows, the winner really hasn’t been successful after the show is over.

Neha Kakkar was a contestant but didn’t even make it to the top. Arijit Singh was a contestant in Fame Gurukul but didn’t win the show.

All of the current Indian idol contestants have already gotten recognition from the show. Most of them were already known faces as they have participated in realty shows in the past. They have gained more popularity now with this Indian idol and age wise now they are ready to explore playback singing of offered. Nowadays it’s not just Bwood but music videos are also very popular and there is more scope for singing.

Personally I like Arunita. I find her voice soothing and she has it in her and I believe she can sing any kind of songs.
Sayli is also good and mostly in natkhat songs. Arunita and Sayli are like Lata and Asha - both good in their own way. Among the boys I think Pawandeep is more versatile and his voice quality is better. Danish sings some well but I am put off by his unnecessary alaps . I wish he would tone that down.
The rest are all okay. I had seen SMP before too. Just a bit too loud at times but she is talented. Anjali is good too but I wish she had waited a couple of years before she participated.
All are good singers, one of them will win - may not be the best one. But hopefully they all get good opportunities. Anyways sounds like they are planning on collaborating with each other. Wishing them all the success!

This episode heavily relied on 2 contestants to pull it through. Arunita opened almost every duet or chorus with her alaps and Danish was predominant male vocal support throughout. I was hoping for a bigger role for Anjali because she fitted the bill. Nihal also should have had more to do. I read that SMP can sing bhajans - why not give her a chance instead of again typecasting her?
The makers should let everyone present their repertoire in a competition and forget about what seems best in their opinion. Let the public decide!

Agree with everything in the last para, esp arunita sayli like Lata & asha. In fact, after their duet, I was thinking they should sing ‘ man kyun behaka re’ from Utsav. They will nail it. Hope they perform this number.

And Danish should seriously tone down on his loud aalaaps which spoils the melody of the song.
Never been an SMP fan - I doubt she could pull off bhajans.
