Detailed Synopsis:
Rimjhim, played by Narayani is a pretty, soft-spoken, quick-witted and graceful 21-year-old small town girl who used to play gudda-gudiya ka khel with her childhood friend and love Avinash (Vishal Puri).But many years ago Avinash's family moved to Mumbai and acquired the riches of life and prospered. Rimjhim remained a small town girl but her memories of Avinash and his family remained with her though Avinash moved with the times and Rimjhim became his forgotten childhood past. Even Avinash's father Bhavani Shankar (Alok Nath) who had always seen Rimjhim as his future daughter-in-law forgot about the little bubble girl he had decided to make his bahu. But one fine day, Rimjhim, armed with a letter from her later father, arrives at Bhavani Shankar's home to claim Avinash, her only bond with life and love. But for everyone she is a stranger. Years of separation has taken her away from their memory. Nobody recognizes or remembers her.
Rimjhim reveals everything about her, the past and the preset and the purpose of her visit. She cannot go back because she has nowhere to go and nobody to fall back on. Irawati (Suhasini Muley) asks her to forget the past and go back where she has come from. But Bhavani Shankar takes pity at Rimjhim and asks her to stay back as a guest. A girl who knows how to make friends and win people, she endears the family members and gradually makes a place for herself in everyone's heart. But it's not an easy task. It's a challenge and job she goes about executing in her own unique and endearing way. But whether she achieves her goal of winning Avinash's heart and making the home her piya ka ghar is what the serial is all about.
CHARACTERS
BHAVANI SHANKAR (Alok Nath): Age fifty-five. He is the retired chairman of Sharma group of industries. Some fifteen years back, he had left his laid-back hometown with some fifty thousand rupees in pocket. Today he owns a couple of factories in Mumbai and also has a thriving project engineering business. Today he has given the entire business in the control of his elder son and is enjoying a retired life.
IRAWATI (Suhasini Mulay): Age forty-five. She is Bhavani Shankar's wife. The journey from a small town to Mumbai has taken its toll on her attitude. With all her 'up market' pretensions, she is boastful and a dictating women. Fond of getting things done, as she wants it to be, but a confused when it comes to getting the work done and always assuming the wrong result. She is also an arrogant mother-in-law. Looks down on the simpleton husband. She is the joint owner of the Sharma Group of Companies with the sole authority to sign the cheques.
INDIRA BUA (Sulbha Arya): Age fifty. Bhavani's younger sister, sensible, seen-the-world, and has been through all kinds of ups and downs in life. She is widowed and is now staying with her brother Bhavani's family – the quintessential 'peace maker' of the family, respected and admired by everybody. Barring Irawati of course, she can't stand Indira Bua and her stature in this family.
RAKESH SHARMA (Kuldeep Mallik): Age Thirty-three. He is the eldest of Bhavani Shankar's three sons. He is in charge of the factories but totally indifferent to what happens in the family, the emotional part. After he comes to know that his wife cannot bear a child he is very dissatisfied with life. Office and work are the only two driving force in his life.
PRATIK SHARMA (Bakul Thakkar): Age Thirty. He is the second son of Bhavani. Is struggling to find a place in the family business. He has studied Law but does not practice. He wants to join business but Rakesh is totally against it and is always creates new hurdles to nip out his progress. Sharp and upwardly mobile – very ambitious but dissatisfied with life right now.
AVINASH (Vishal Puri): The youngest of Bhavani's sons. He has done his MBA from Moscow University. On his way back he falls in love with Simran. But later he finds out that it was his infatuation and that he is actually in love with Rimjhim the daughter of a friend of Bhavani, and later gets married to her. He decides to start a separate company with his brother Pratik. But he also comes under the axe of Rakesh scheming against Pratik. Avinash is frustrated and now plans to start a company on his own which is highly welcomed by Rakesh.
YASHODA (Prachi Shah): Rakesh's wife – good-looking, sensible, dutiful. Because of her decision to give her son to Jayanti, whose child died after birth, she has to face the wrath of not only some members of the family but also her husband. Her sacrifice turns out to be her worse curse. She alone handled the entire chores of the household till the arrival of Rimjhim. She is exactly the opposite of her husband in her behavior. She takes care of the feelings of all people in the house and is least concerned with material benefits.
KAVERI (Priyanka): Pratik's wife – she has no goal in her life. Her mother Naina twists and uses her for her political gains and Kaveri just blindly follows her mother. She and her mother creates a lot of disturbances in Sukh Shanti Sadan to separate Pratik from the family but always fails in their endeavor. Kaveri later stands for elections against the wishes of the family, which spells untold tensions not only in her life but also in the life's of every member of Sukh Shanti Sadan.
JAYANTI (Sajni): Age Twenty-Six, the only daughter of Bhavani Shankar and Irawati, mother's pet, she is boastful, lazy and bad-tempered. Married a budding penniless musician, with whom she resides in her paternal house. She helps her mother Irawati to fulfill all her wishes without thinking about whether it is right or not. After Inder leaves her, she lives with Om whom she considers to be her own son.
INDER (Hoshang Govil): Jayanti's husband, ambitious musician, who had come from his hometown Jabalpur to become a musician but instead became the poor 'Ghar Jamai' in the rich Sharma household. Jayanti and Irawati spare no opportunity to ridicule him. Their six months old baby is taken care of wholly by Inder. Inder always keeps trying to make a name for himself as a Singer. But when he finds out that Om is not his child he leaves the house and later goes back to her village Jabalpur.
BUA AMMA (Kiran Bhargav): Bhavani and Prabhudayal have regarded her as their sister. She is reserved, adhering to old customs and traditions. She meets Bhavani after a long time when he goes to Allahabad for the settlement of a land dispute case. She also comes for the wedding and becomes a part of the Sharma Family. She stands forcefully for what is right and supports everybody who is right.
SIMRAN (Kamya Punjabi): She is a student of a University of Moscow and is doing her research on Indian culture. She meets Avinash on the flight back to <ST1:COUNTRY-REGIoN w:st="on">India</ST1:COUNTRY-REGIoN> after his studies and Avinash thinks he has fallen in love with her. Rimjhim later persuades a stubborn Simran to love Avinash. Simran considers Rimjhim as her sister. But at the crucial juncture of the wedding Simran unfolds the truth about Avinash's marriage being fixed in his childhood with Rimjhim and gets Rimjhim married to Avinash.
RIMJHIM (Narayani Shastri): She is the main character, around whom the whole serial revolves. She comes from Allahabad on the behest of her dead father Prabhudayal, a friend of Bhavani, for the fulfillment of the promise given by Bhavani to get her married to his son Avinash. Irawati is staunchly against the marriage. Rimjhim finally gets married to Avinash and actively participates to solve the problems of each member in the Sharma family in such a way, which would be permanent and unique.
Storyline (IN THE BEGINNING OF THE SERIAL) after this the serial has many other storylines.........
When Rimjhim had come to Sukh Shanti Sadan the only thing she wanted was to become Avinash's wife. But Irawati was against it. So Rimjhim had to win the trust of everybody in the house. Rimjhim in the mean time tries to dissolve the rift between Rakesh and Yashoda. Rimjhim also comes to know that Om is actually Yashoda's son whom Yashoda had placed in Jayanti's arms. Other than Rimjhim only Pratik knew about Yashoda's sacrifice. There is also another twist in Pratik's life, by the way of his wife Kaveri. Kaveri is incited by her mother Naina Devi firstly to join social service and then later to join politics. Rimjhim loves Avinash from childhood, but when he returns from abroad after his studies, he seems to be involved with Simran. When Rimjhim comes to know about this she puts everything at stake to bring them together, even against Bhavani's wish. Rimjhim is of the view that whomever Avinash loves becomes very important for her. Irawati taking advantage of this situation fixes Avinash's marriage with Simran. Before marriage Rimjhim had to go back to Allahabad to fight for a case which is in dispute of a piece of land belonging jointly to Bhavani and Prabhudayal, Rimjhim's father.
After Rimjhim's departure, Avinash gets the feeling that he is in love with Rimjhim and not with Simran. He becomes crazy about Rimjhim. Finally the situations unfold such that Simran refuses to marry Avinash. At the behest of most of the people present at the wedding Rimjhim agrees and gets married to Avinash. Irawati never wanted this marriage to take place. She doesn't accept Rimjhim as her daughter-in-law. Bhavani's evil brother Durga Shankar comes to live in Sukh Shanti Sadan with his family.
Bhavani Shankar takes Irawati to Kerala for her treatment. Upon Naina's insistence Kaveri decides to contest for the election. During this time Kaveri begins to realize that there is some other girl in Pratik's life. In the absence of Bhavani, Rakesh also supports Kaveri for contesting the elections. Which makes other people of the house become helpless. Then one day Rimjhim also expresses her support for Kaveri. The people of the house begin to misunderstand Rimjhim. Bhavani comes back home after leaving Irawati in Kerala for her treatment. He is shocked to hear that Kaveri is contesting the elections but is more pained to learn about Rimjhim's support for her. Bhavani tries to make Rimjhim and Kaveri see reason but in vein. Rakesh on his part taking advantage of the situation calls Avinash privately asks him to form a new company on his own. Yashoda doesn't like this and expresses it to Rakesh. Pratik continues his midnight meetings, which starts to worry Kaveri, who fights with him but to no avail. Kaveri talks to Rimjhim, who in turn talks to Pratik. But Pratik doesn't take Rimjhim's words seriously. Rimjhim follows Pratik and is shocked to see him together with Kalyani. Rimjhim confronts Pratik, who tells her that Rakesh is the one who is involved with Kalyani and that she is blackmailing Pratik for not exposing Rakesh. Pratik asks Rimjhim to keep all this to herself. All the people of the house are against Rimjhim for supporting Kaveri in the election. Naina appoints Rajeshwari as the PRO of Kaveri. Rajeshwari and Naina enforce on Rimjhim the responsibility for holding the first media coverage in Sukh Shanti Sadan. Rimjhim accomplishes the task in flying colors, but this creates a rift in Rimjhim's relationship with Bhavani. Kaveri sees Pratik with Kalyani in a restaurant and insists on divorcing Pratik. Everybody tries to dissuade Kaveri from taking such a harsh decision, but in vein. Rajeshwari decides to make divorce a big media event and files for divorce. But Kaveri later regrets her decision because she finds herself unable to live without Pratik. But now Rajeshwari and Naina becomes hell bend on getting Kaveri to divorce Pratik. In between all this Bhavani and Irawati comes back. Irawati straight forward blames Rimjhim for everything. From nowhere Naina Devi's involvement in a scam is exposed. The police search in Sukh Shanti Sadan for Kaveri's involvement in the scam, infuriates Bhavani, who holding Rimjhim responsible for everything drives her to the airport and asks her to go back to Allahabad. But at the moment Sridhar comes there and explains to Bhavani that Rimjhim is doing all this to expose Naina. Bhavani is shocked. Rimjhim requests Bhavani to keep everything to himself.
Avinash gets underway to start his new project. Pratik, who had been broken down by Kaveri's insistence on divorce, is shattered by Avinash's betrayal. Kalayani's blackmailing also worries both Pratik and Rimjhim. Kaveri confronts Naina regarding the scam. Rajeshwari asks Naina Devi to stay away from the election campaigning and asks Rimjhim to accompany Kaveri. Rimjhim agrees and accompanies Kaveri everyday for her campaigning, only to face the anger of everybody at Sukh Shanti Sadan. Differences also begin to crop up in between Avinash and Rimjhim. Irawati tries to take advantage of the situation and tries to break the relationship between Avinash and Rimjhim. The differences between Rimjhim and Avinash intensifies so much that Rimjhim refuses to go for the opening of Avinash's new office, but Bhavani brings Rimjhim at the last moment and makes her cut the ribbon of the inauguration.
In the media campaigning Rimjhim and Kaveri have to face drilling questions about Naina Devi's involvement in the scam. Naina is tensed as to who is behind the exposing her in the scam. Rakesh comes to know that the girl in Pratik's life is none other than Kalayani. Rakesh and Kalayani have a fight. Avinash tries to involve Pratik in his new company but Pratik shows no interest and wants to pursue law. It is realized that Yashoda is pregnant and Rimjhim takes Yashoda to the doctor. Simran invites Avinash and Rimjhim for her wedding. She is getting married to an Indian, who works in America.Rimjhim assures Simran that she will come for her wedding.
The date for the divorce case comes close. Kaveri finds himself helpless. Rimjhim with the support of Rajeshwari is able to persuade Kaveri to pull her name out of the election. Finally Kaveri comes back to Pratik. And Naina Devi is exposed.

In the end Rimjhim dies due to Cancer.
