To the piont were she was even getting annoyed of asking when she will get to see her go to school and make something of herself. It’s funny to see people of all ages connecting with her. That’s what makes it so unique.

Finally I would say it’s a drama and with it sensitive topics are being explored one things she told me was that I will never like everything I see. So yes I will not say that Aditya was right and wrong for anu was just trying to show her daughter to watch out as she has been scared by her own husband.

She doesn’t want history to repeat and dev today has proven to be spineless once more for he chose to stay quite then own up to his responsibility. It easy to claim your mistake in hiding but facing the fact is hard. As bitter me may find anu somewhere she has a right to be bitter and protective of her child’s future all mothers would do what she did.

It’s just good that Aditya saw what she was upto and poor Maline had to take the brunt of it. Sorry to say but she is not so naive to his feelings of status and respect he has always said that he holds integrity dear and made that clear in episode one. They have been in a relationship for so long yet I find they have never really talked. That’s marriage for we get to see shades of people we knew they never had. How we learn to walk with these or fix these is called being in a relationship. It’s about building going what they have with the good and the bad.

Imlie is yet to learn this but I see she will learn about these as she watches these two. We have seen a shade of her experience with these feelings etc.

Thank you for clarifying 😊🙂

Ya, I had moved away from ITV and is a more c/k/j/american drama person but Imlie just caught my eye during the holidays and then binge-watched it to a point where I love all the characters.

The beauty of this show, is that no character is totally good or bad (except for the Tripathis, ofcourse😆) but they are grey. They have their own good points and their shortcomings. They might make choices that we might not agree to but looking at it from their perspective, it might just be right. Anu was not a bitter person but she become so because of her husband's behavior. Dev chose to be with his wife and daughter which on the surface was right but in the long run, was it the right decision if his heart was not there? Now, both their choices have had an impact on Malini, who has grown in a toxic environment where she is learned to ignore things even though they are staring at her face but that just might be her coping strategy. Aditya is also at fault here because he has never tried to look beyond her dimple smile or made the effort to share his innermost thoughts or feelings or heard them in return. Imlie is also learning and I think it was you who said that, she need to learn that values can be adjusted/modified based on circumstance without compromising the essence of it.

There are many such layers and this is very rare to see in an ITV especially a love story which is not built on clichés but is a slow burn built on shared experiences.

The first red flag should have been when the plastic chair incident happened, shouldn't she have taken a stand then and left. Second, Imlie was a guest in the house. When her mother said, Imlie will work, she said I will work with her. Shouldn't that have been Imlie's choice? Will you just assume that a guest will work in your house? Third, being witness to her mother's treatment of Imlie, and that its her duty to protect her, should she have left Imlie with those ladies or asked her to stay in the room/kitchen till the ladies leave? Her mother is an unpleasant character but isnt it Malini duty to protect her near and dear ones from her mother especially when she is the bridge between the two households.

IMO, Adi knows Moon will never be a vile person but I also think he knows her enough to know that she might also not take the correct stand and hence his outburst.

@bold: Good point....Malini's "solutions" for situations leave a lot to be desired. Everyone talks about giving Imlie the respect of a guest, but no one ever does anything to lift her up to that level. In Tripathi house also, she is still allowed to mostly run around doing chores....and here, when AC tried to treat her like a maid, Malini didn't take a firm stand that Imlie won't do any housework, she instead tried to make it some kind of fun "saheli" activity that both Imlie and her can do together to "equalize" with her😆.

Malini really thinks that her doing chores with Imlie will equalize them in the eyes of people? 😆.....No, Imlie was still being treated as a maid after that and talked down to, while Malini was being treated like a hostess serving food. Farak hai.....and this is where Malini's subconscious sense of privilege shows through about how clueless she is regarding actually providing dignity to someone.

And this is why she was wrong and adi was right ke yeh umeed nahi thi she herself assumed ke koi issue nahi hoga imlie ko caz sasural main bhi toh kaam karti hai.. but aise nahi hota na 😆 so much for behanchara...

I would really like to know what is Imlie's status in the middle of all this?

- She is not a wife (in traditional sense);

- She is not a "naukar" ( if not for the marriage, a girl like Imlie would never work as a "naukar" at anyone's house. She has way too much self-respect for that. The only reason she is compromising is because of Aditya and Mithi/Satyakam);

- She is not a student (dur dur taak nazaar nahi arerihe mujhe);

Exactly, where does she stand? She is completely at other ppl's mercy! A girl who wanted to make her own path, seems to have completely lost her way!

Sita Maiya (and the cvs 😆) better have some solid plans for her!

@bold: That's exactly it. She is in a limbo state and has been deliberately left at other people's mercy since she doesn't have the education or any support system in the city to create a path for herself.

It currently suits the writers to just keep her in a state of mere existence, without any clear status or any goal/direction in life.....she is simply Imlie sprinkled randomly into various relationships....lol

This sums it up beautifully and yes the lesson of today was indeed to show imlie that circumstance lead a person to adapt to change and modify there believes. I feel this shift will come with this rift and other issues in the future where feelings will be explained and explored. That’s the essence of the show and why I love the slow pace of the story too🙂

it’s why I am glad that tv is finally showing such issues even with cliche trickes after all without such drama we cannot have these intense talks 😉

I feel that in Imlie’s mind, she is not the naukrani but the DIL of the house. She is doing the housework with that status hence she refused to take the money from Aditya. That’s the reason for her expression every time she is referred as the same. I think this is the understanding between Aditya and her.

But as you said that he needs to take action to change her identity from her current “ limbo” status. It can be either creating a path for her to have anew one like an officer or acknowledging her current one.

Current one cannot be acknowledged anytime soon so atleast they should take steps to create the new one. But then we have the certificate issue which would be another drama of Miss and hits 😉

Yeah, I know she made that claim but point remains that she doesn't behave like a DIL in the house, she still acts like a maid doing service. So her own intention really doesn't change the truth that her status remains that of a pseudo-maid since she does maid-like tasks all day. No DIL of the house would be directed to do work as she is by everyone around that house.

There is no understanding between her and Adi on this point...he is simply letting her be, that's all. Right now they don't directly call her a maid in Tripathi house anymore so that's good enough for this limbo mode....otherwise the tasks she does all day are maid-like only....but no one really wants to dwell on that....lol
