Doherty's Driving Less Than Charming

Former Charmed star Shannen Doherty and another driver suffered minor injuries in a car crash in the Los Angeles-area beach community of Malibu, police said Tuesday.

Neither Doherty nor the other driver required medical treatment after the accident Monday on Pacific Coast Highway, the road that runs along the California coast and serves as Malibu's main thoroughfare, a Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman said.

"(Doherty) was exiting a residential street attempting to turn left onto Pacific Coast Highway, failed to yield to oncoming traffic and was struck by a westbound Ford Mustang," Sheriff's spokesman Sgt Philip Brooks said.

"A preliminary investigation indicates she was at fault for failing to yield to oncoming traffic," Brooks said.

Brooks said the 1999 Mustang driven by James Paul sustained "substantial damage" while Doherty was able to drive away in her Land Rover. He said neither party was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

"Ms. Doherty has not been cited. However, further investigation may result in a citation," Brooks said.

Doherty, who started acting as a child, shot to fame as Brenda Walsh on the hit TV series Beverly Hills 90210 before starring on the witchcraft drama Charmed.
