Does Indira believe in God?

I have wondered this a few times before and the scene at the temple today stirred up this question again. On the one hand, she says that she is the maker of her own destiny but on the other hand she blames "God" for dishing out a bad life/circumstances to her. So which one is it? If you don't believe in God, as she claims, how can one blame or credit God for anything? Or is it the third option- the fall back for most believers who have faced adversity in life- blame God for the bad and pat yourself on the back for all the good in life.

I also don't understand what believing in God has to do with personal ownership and personal action in life. I for one, am not a believer, but just because one believes in God, I don't think it takes away the importance of personal action in life. I know many people who are believers/religious, and I don't appreciate the message that the writers have tried to send out through this bit.

It seems like Illa Bedi and her creative team's outlook on these issues is as uninspiring and sterotyped as everything else they conjure up.

Well ! Even though its a nice point but almost all believers do that, don't they? and even though the message that is being sent across is condemnable but isn't that just a face of society, a large part of the society.

@bold 1: A large section of believers do that- yes (the 3rd option that I mentioned in the post😆) but I don't think ALL believers do. So really there is nothing unique or different about Indira here- if you've faced adversity in life, blame god. But what confuses me is that she goes on to say that she does not believe in god but rather believers in her ability to create her own fate (or something along these lines...can't remember the exact dialogue). So shouldn't she blame herself for what's happened then? 😆

@blue: When Indu is trying to lead her into the temple, I thought she said something like...I asked God for something 8 years back and he gave me 8 years of sanyas...correct me if I"m wrong.

no.i dont agree with above lines.
--the persons who really believes god--they will give credit to god--but takes blame on them self only--saying they punished because of there sin and there karma.

it is non believers who blame god when something goes wrong.

believers think--what ever god dose for them is good for them.

bhagwan jo bhi kartha hai hamare acche keliye kartha hai--so there is no point in blaming him.--this exact thought of believer of god.

above post of TM clearly shows indira is non believer of god--otherwise she should have accepted gods given life gracefully without blaming him.

Yep, she did say that today. But this has been her stance all along. The only time she deviated was when Rishi was kidnapped. At that time, she was trying out everything, so she tried out faith too. I have a problem with this 'test' approach, but it happens A LOT. Other than that instance, I don't recall her even saying "Hey bhagwan".

Actually, I have a couple of approaches to this subject (outside the context of the show), but it can either become too serious or too frivolous. So, waiting till I find anchor.

Dude! There is a word "almost" there.
And true or not, they call themselves believer and I am no one to say that they are not. To comment, I will have to know how it is to believe that He interferes.

@bold: AllThingsNice just said, there was a time when she did pray

i made a distinction between three set of believer.

1st set is true believer--who never going to question god.these are good people..

2nd is non believer--they also not going to question god as they never believe him.--these people also good people.

3rd set is dangerous fellows--dhongi believers--they say they believe in god--but andar se uske upar vishwaas nahin hai--these are the people who puts blame on god in adversities.
they take credit for success on themselves but puts blame on god for failure.

I just said, I am no one to judge who is a true believer and who is not. Period!!!

Edit: BAD? I would rather commit suicide before directly or indirectly saying that Indira is bad on this forum 😆
