Does Indira believe in God?
I have wondered this a few times before and the scene at the temple today stirred up this question again. On the one hand, she says that she is the maker of her own destiny but on the other hand she blames "God" for dishing out a bad life/circumstances to her. So which one is it? If you don't believe in God, as she claims, how can one blame or credit God for anything? Or is it the third option- the fall back for most believers who have faced adversity in life- blame God for the bad and pat yourself on the back for all the good in life.
I also don't understand what believing in God has to do with personal ownership and personal action in life. I for one, am not a believer, but just because one believes in God, I don't think it takes away the importance of personal action in life. I know many people who are believers/religious, and I don't appreciate the message that the writers have tried to send out through this bit.
