Hello! Thanks for your comments. This chapter is not that spectacular, but do read it and comment :) And tell me if you like the character I have introduced. He will be making more appearances.

Rose Potter's grip tightened on her godfather's hand, as she tried to hide behind his robes. Why did this happen every time? Every time she went to Diagon Alley, people flocked around her like birds around pieces of bread. She didn't understand why it was so bloody fascinating every time! Didn't they have their fill the first twenty times? She wasn't the London Bridge, or Albus Dumbledore! She was just an eleven year old, orphaned girl.

The stares, the pointing...all that attention being showered on her...Not that she disliked attention. Like every other eleven year old, she liked attention, but extreme amounts, especially in the manner that the people in Diagon Alley showered on her, quite frankly, creeped her out.

"We really should go now…" Remus pressed, as a man ran up to them for an autograph. His face fell at Remus' statement, and Rose felt a tinge of guilt for disappointing the man. But the thought of the people in Leaky Cauldron, and the guilt ebbed away as Remus dragged her.

Excitement bubbled inside her, as Remus tapped the brick (third upwards from the right with his wand. The bricks collapsed into an archway, forming the entrance to Diagon Alley).

They first went to Gringotts, to get the money. As usual, Griphook took them to their vault. They next stop was Ollivander's, where they got Rose's wand. This was the one shop in Diagon Alley that Rose hadn't visit. After ten minutes in the shop, she was determined to never go in there again. Both Mr. Ollivander and his shop completely creeped Rose out.

The shop itself was dark and dank, and the shelves looked like they'd never seen the light of the day. The same could be said about the shopkeeper. he was thin, with huge dark circles under his eyes and paper white. Not old parchment paper, but new paper, painted over with white paint.

He spoke in this low, eerie whisper and looked straight into your eyes when talking to you, as if he was looking into your soul. It didn't help that the wand that 'chose' Rose (in the words of Mr. Ollivander) was the twin of Voldemorts.

Remus could see that this disturbed Rose a lot. As they exited the shop, he took his godaughter's hand and squeazed it gently.

"Don't worry about what Mr. Ollivaner said. Its part of his job to intimidate his customers. He scared the life out of me when I went to him to get my want."

She tilted her head to the side, staring speculatively at him. He opened his mouth to say something, but the words evaporated at his lips, as she broke into a smile.

"Thanks Moony."

She tugged at his sleeve to make him bend down and raised herself on her tiptoes. She kissed him on the cheek as a way of thank you, earning a surprised smile from Remus.

The next stop was Potages cauldrons, for Rose's standard cauldron for potion making. Out of all the subjects in Hogwarts, Rose was the most apprehensive about potions. Snape taught potions, and she knew he really didn't like her.

After Potages they went to Madam Malkins, to finally, finally get her wizarding robes. Madam Malkin dragged Rose away from Remus, and got her to stand on a platform, next to a boy with blond hair.

"Hello!" Chirped up Rose, smiling happily at the boy. He offered a small, polite smile-it didn't reach his grey eyes.

"Hogwarts?" He asked, as if he couldn't care less.

"Yeah." Rose replied, less enthusiastically than before. If he was going to be all aloof and superior, she had no interest in talking to him. Replying to his question was just courtesy, which, clearly, she had been taught and he hadn't.

"So, what house do you want to be in?" He asked, after a short pause. She groaned inwardly, as she knew she would have to reply to his question. Why couldn't he just be aloof like he had been?

"Gryffindor." She replied, not even bothering to look at him. He had pissed her off, and now, she couldn't care to be polite.

"Gryffindor?! The house of the stupid." He sneered, and she whipped her head around to glare at him.

"No. The house of the brave and loyal." She retorted, her voice biting. Now it wasn't a matter of being polite. He had insulted Gryffindor. She couldn't just let him get away with it!

"The brave and loyal are stupid."

He smirked at her, and something about his smirk made her want to punch him in the face. But then again, Remus could easily see her, and if she did, he would make her apologize. He also seemed like the sort of person who would go tell on her to his parents...

"I suppose you want to be a Slytherin." She spat back, the word Slytherin slipping off her tongue as if it was slime.

"Of course. All Malfoys go in Slytherin." He puffed his chest raised himself on his tippy-toes-which, really, didn't make a difference. He was still super short, and looked like an idiot with his hair slicked back. Now, however, she understood why she wanted to punch him in the face.

"Oh...you're a Malfoy. No wonder you're a prick." She grinned as she saw the air of superiority completely vanish. The smirk slipped off his face, and he returned to his original height, his chest deflated.

"And what are you? Are your parents magical or...?"

"Yeah, but I lived with Muggles all my life." She turned to face the window outside, clenching her teeth to keep her face void of any emotion.

"Why? Are your parents...?" She didn't flinch, as he faltered, and stared at her.

"Oh I'm sorry." He spoke again, sounding, to her surprise, a little sorry. Just a little.

"That's you done dear."

Madam Malkin came before she could reply, and removing all the pins, set Rose free from the cloth wrapped around her. She jumped off the stool, offering a smile and a polite thank you in Madam Malkin's direction.

"Say, what's your last name?" The boy asked curiously, causing her to roll her eyes. She didn't want to answer that question. She didn't ever want to talk to him again. Even if he had been sorry. Without answering, she turned around and walked over to her godfather.

"Let's go Monny." She took his hand, and pulled him away. From the Malfoy, who looked, in bewilderment, after her.

Rose took in a deep breath, inhaling the smell of new books- one of her favourite smells in the world. At last, they were in Remus and Rose's favourite shop in Diagon Alley- Flourish and Blotts. They bought Rose's course books first so they could go explore the bookstore.

As usual, Rose immediately went to the small muggle fiction section in the bookstore. The section was basically for Muggle Studies students, as she'd been told by Remus before. She smiled, gazing at the books affectionately as she ran her hand across the spines… And banged into a body roughly her size.

"I am so sorry. I do apologize." Rose looked up into a pair of kind, blue eyes.

"Its okay." She said, now noticing the boy's apologetic smile and dark brown hair. She returned his smile, but was pretty sure hers came out with a bit too much teeth, and probably looked creepy. Her eyes fell on the book in his hand, and she exclaimed out loud in recognition.

"You...know this book?" He asked, equally surprised by the fact that she knew about the book as she was at him having it.

"Yeah, I read it a few months ago. I'm just surprised to see it here-"

"I just...picked it up here. I was actually looking for it."

"Are you a Muggle Studies student?"

"Uh...no...I'm just going to start at Hogwarts this year. What about you?"

"Oh no, I'm just starting too."

The boy opened his mouth to ask a question (presumably Rose's name) but Remus' arrival interrupted their conversation.

"Rose, there you are! Thank you very much." Remus smiled and thanked the shopkeeper, who returned the gesture.

"I was just looking for a book." Rose informed Remus, who looked at the boy in front of his godaughter, sizing her up.

"Would you like to buy that dear?" The shopkeeper asked the boy, smiling kindly.

'Uh...no...I was just looking..." He replied, turning bright red and carefully putting the book back in the frowned, totally confused. Didn't he say he was looking for it before? Why did he just say he didn't want it? She was about to say something, but with a parting smile, he shot out of the shop before she could let a word escape from her mouth.

"Well...that was odd." She remarked, and Remus turned around, a questioning look on his face, as the shopkeeper walked away.

"What was?" He asked.

"He wanted that book. He told me just seconds ago."

"That is odd." He remarked, nodding his head in agreement.

"Maybe...he had a reason to." Mumbled Rose, more to herself than to Remus.

"Well, in that case..." Remus picked up the copy of The Great Gatsby from the shelf, and asked Rose if she wanted anything else. When she shook her head, he took her small hand into his scratched, scarred one and walked to shopkeeper.

As Remus and Rose exited the shop, (Rose completely confused) Remus asked her where the boy went. She shrugged her shoulders, and he sighed, reluctant to scour Diagon Alley for him. Luckily for him, he didn't have to look far, as the little boy was just a few metres away from Diagon Alley, standing with his head bent, his shoulders slumped.

"Excuse me!" He didn't look up, and Remus groaned. Rose tapped him reassuringly on his shoulder, and turned to bellow to him.

"Yo, bookstore guy!" He looked up, a confused expression on his face. Seeing Rose, the confusion was replaced by a smile, and a greeting wave. Rose smiled back, and beckoned him to come to her. Shrugging, he walked across the road to Rose and Remus.

"Hello, bookstore girl." He said, grinning, as Rose giggled. Remus frowned, suddenly unsure about his spurt of kindness for the boy. Rose had just giggled...and that was never a good sign, not with his goddaughter.

"To what do I owe the pleasure?" He asked, and again, Rose couldn't help but giggle again. He was just so stupidly formal, it was funny.

"Well…My godfather has something to give you." Finally, Rose looked over and Remus, and he was glad to be acknowledged. He thought that she had forgotten about him...

"I just...I wanted to give you this book."

He pressed the book into the boy's hands, and immediately looked away. He didn't quite remember why he had decided to buy the book for him. Especially when all of Rose's attention was being showered on him. Not that he was jealous. That would be stupid and childish, and Remus Lupin was anything but stupid and childish.

"Sir...I...Thank you." The boy's voice wavered, as his eyes softened. He stared up at shaggy, tattered robed and greying Remus Lupin like he was the answer to his prayers. The reverence and the gratitude with which the boy eyed the werewolf made Remus quite uncomfortable. Even when he redirected his gaze, Remus could feel the boy's big blue eyes gazing at him.

He didn't know what to say. What could he say? What did you say to someone who looked at you like you had done the kindest deed in the world? He was not used to being...revered, and after the boy's reaction, sure was glad about that. A nod. Perhaps that would be adequate as reciprocation. So, Remus Lupin nodded curtly, embarrased, at the boy who looked at him with adoring, sky blue eyes and dragged his goddaughter away.
