Chapter 7 – James' POV. The next few days were like eternity for James.
Lily was being distant with him. He didn't know why. Was it because he had asked her out again? Probably that's the reason. But what did she expect? James wasn't going to give up that easily. And he had never promised her that he'd "never" ask her out again. Besides he was being very decent and a down to earth person this year.
Friday dawned and James woke up with determination.
He was going to talk to Lily today. No matter what it takes. Or may be he'll talk to Irene first, you know, just in case. No, he wasn't a coward. He was going to talk to Lily. That was certain. Was it really? Oh I don't know about that. That girl can get really fierce. YES! Fine! After his shower James went down to the Common Room as usual to wait for Lily. Even though Lily didn't talk much to him these days, he still made it a point to go and wait for her to come down. After about ten minutes he saw her coming down.
God! She is pretty alright! No wonder I fell for her. I mean just look at her. She's perfect. A perfect angel! Her hair is exactly like… Like? Liquid Fire! Yeah, exactly like liquid fire. "Good Morning, Lily!" James greeted her.
"Morning," Lily muttered and walked out of the portrait hole. And James followed her.
They made their way to the Great Hall for breakfast quietly. Or rather, Lily made her way to the Great Hall quietly. That was due to the fact that she had no idea about the war which was raging in James. Between his mind and his heart.
She's so pretty! Keep saying that buddy, it'll take you no where.
May be. But it still doesn't affect the fact that she's pretty. I mean look at her!
Yeah, Yeah! Look at her. But will you get a move on and talk to her!

See what I mean! It's easy to order. I don't even know the exact reason why she isn't talking to me anymore!
James sat next to her and started eating. Their friends weren't there yet.
" It's a beautiful day! Don't you think so?" James asked trying to strike a conversation.
Lily just murmured something insignificant without even looking up.
"Lily, what's the matter with you? I asked you out. You said no. Can't you forget about that and just get a move on? You're driving me crazy!" James said angrily, surprising even himself.
"What are you…Hi Irene, Sirius! Long time no see. " Lily exclaimed in a forced cheerful voice. "How are things?"
Sirius gave her a look that clearly said that he thought she had gone barking mad, while Irene placed her hand our Lily's forehead.
"Are you alright, Lily? Not having a fever, now, are you?" she asked in a concerned voice.
"She's not alright! She has lost her nuts," Sirius retorted trying loosen up the tension in the atmosphere.
James gave Lily a look and Lily clearly didn't even bother looking.
"Lily! I'm still expecting an answer from you," James said.
"An answer for what?" Lily asked innocently.
"What's the matter with you?" James repeated.
"What's the matter with me?"
"You've been distancing yourself from me."
"No. I haven't! Stop imagining things."
"Oh I'm imagining things now am I? Right . You haven't even called me by my name for a whole week. What's the reason for that?"
Lily raised her eyebrows. "Is that bothering you so much? Okay then, here you go. James. James. James. James. James. James…"
"Fine. FINE," James roared and exited the hall not noticing the smirk dancing on someone's lips.
