Since the recent turn of events have disappointed me to the core, I will give an alternate version of what could have been shown to keep grey-shade & basic character trait of Ranvir intact, that is long term planner, profit earner & mastermind manipulator.
Love triangle would have been- Kabir proposing to Aanchal, Aanchal saying yes to him but on later she could have gradually fallen more for Ranvir.

As of now, AaBir are together & Ranvir is the outsider.

It will begin from Kabir proposing Aanchal, Aanchal accepting it & Ranvir left heartbroken.

Kabir was already grey so, no need to say anything about him.

Ranvir-
1. He could not convince Sarika for the marriage at all.
2. Let Kabir-Naina affair continue. Naina, her brother & Gaurav in desperation would have already revealed the truth.
3. When the truth was out, Ranvir couldn't have defended Kabir at all. Rather he should have made a distance from Kabir citing he is Aanchla' friend too meanwhile, making a perfect friendly move to wards Aanchal.
4. Since they were already friends, Ranvir could have been the one to lent his shoulder to aanchal.
5. During Kabir was shot, Ranvir could have found the culprit in some time. But before that, he could have already created confusion in Aanchal's mind regarding both the brothers.
6. And when Aanchal had fallen for Ranvir more than she had for Kabir, then could have kept the proposal.
7. Ranvir could have kept Aanchal spend more time with him on account of business rather than on account of defending Kabir always.
8. He could be Aanchal's rebound once Kabir's intentions were revealed.
9. He could have saved Aanchal from Gaurav matter.

This way, Kundali-dosh & fake-illness drama would not have been needed to introduced at all.
Aanchal could have been given a fair chance to see both the brothers in romantic light, rather than being unaware of Ranvir's feelings. A girl being in love with 2 guys at the same time is not uncommon.

Being grey means, one is manipulative enough to convince another person to think from your point of view in their full conscience. Manipulating someone isn't a tough task at all. In friendship, it happens a lot of times. If the competition is someone who is important to you, then all you have to do in that matter is to be not defensive of your competitor & be a perfect advisor for the other person. Being grey means, you are cunning enough to shed your absolute & ideal righteousness & let other see through your perspective but in this process you don't hurt someone intentionally. It's like a competition between two business friends, bidding for one deal & each presenting their best move to win without hurting the other.

Grey-shade doesn't necessarily hurt someone, rather you take advantage of the most vulnerable situation of a person to gain your objective with they considering that this probably is the best decision to be taken at time. This way,you gain your objective & others don't even have antagonistic attitude towards you. They might not like you but they wouldn't hate you either. Grey characters hurt you but you recover from that hurt easily.

There is a thin line between characters. Everyone is grey but the amount of grey is best defined by the situation of the person & how they behave in it.

But then ab to teer kaman se nikal gaya. Ab kuch ni ho skta.

In logon ne KRPKAB mein Dev se hi kuch seekh liya hota. At one time he was the best grey character Indian TV had ever seen. Dev was manipulative enough to always get what he wanted. He wasn't white but he wasn't black either.

I m thinking on some of the same points. Ranvir could have easily created the conflict bw aabir. He hired Gaurav for the poll- khol oc kabir. When aanchal was starting to suspect then why he persuaded Anchal to trust on kabir. He could have use this situation for his benefit. Second time he continued to convince Anchal to forgive kabir. Why?? He is calculative player. He could easily use every situation for his own under the facade of being a dharmatma. There was no need for fake illness n kundali dosh. He didn't even need to kill Gaurav. Bu doing all this plotting, he could have remained as a grey character not the black one.

But now as u said everything is done. Ab toh kuch nahi ho sakta. Ranvir is now the antagonist of the show

There one show which my sister watched (not Indian ofcs) and when she told me I thought Haasil inspired by this show. This show was about 3 grey characters. 2 brothers and one girl. Elder brother was criminal. He was orphan and was adoppted by his own mother. Younger brother very impulsive. He is in love with one girl who is lawyer. And girl loves him also. So one day this girl taking case of elder brother. When he planning trapping her in his game bcz he want stole brother's love and hurt him. He wanted take revnge from his family. But he falls for her. He marries this girl but this girl marries him bcz its part of her game. Then younger brother showing his grey shades. After sometime girl falls in love with elder brother. But love didnt change him...Like he not became angel. He still doing crimes. He killed so many ppl. Some of his crimes were justified by writers...Some not. But girl fall for him bcz he is good person in heart. And love didnt change her also. She is still strong lawyer who is here to search truth. In the end they are dont have happy end bcz she sending him to jail where he gets a life sentence. When younger brother leaves them. Its story of 3 flawles characters. Its story of 3 real grey characters who doing mistakes, who love-hate each other, who plays games with each other. Its 2 emotional love stories bcz both couples had equal SS and my sister said she was crying bcz of both them. Its thriller. Its exmaple when makers dont scare to show girl who in love with so called anti-hero. Its exmaple if even anti-hero in love the doesnt mean he should be psycho obssesed lover. When my sister told me this I was like "Wow! Seems like my show will be something like this" lol...

ya ofcs. its like this in my dream🤣

And I agree with you! Thats how Ranvir could have been be a grey but now he is anti-hero-psycho obssesed lover.

Well grey doesn't mean negative and this is precisely where the writers have failed big time
For them grey means a psycho , obsessive, creepy lover and that's about it !

Ranvir could have been shown as a normal intelligent. sharp , manipulative man who will do anything to get Aanchal but is not obsessed and he at the same time is someone who loves his family and brother

Someone who is clearly in love but not obsessed...Someone who can never hurt the girl he loves even when she hurts him a thousand times

Someone who writers his own destiny, someone who immensely loves the girl but will never physically touch her or hurt her against her own will.

Someone who will do all the plotting and scheming against AaBir but at the same time if someone hurts Kabir or his family then he will protect them with all his might !

This is what is called GREY !

When people will know that he is doing wrong by separating AaBir but they will not be able to hate him coz his actions might be questionable but his intentions are not wrong !

Then people would have been confused and people would not have predicted that how this story will end...This is how the conflict could have been created...Ranvir could have had so many layers but has rather been reduced as a one dimensional character

Imagine Aanchal's conflict in this case - She would have started developing a soft corner for him and then after finding out what he did...she would be in a massive conflict whether to hate him or love him.

She could have then planned her revenge with Kabir...that could have been a big conflict...AaBir then realizing that Ranvir was not entirely wrong

The story would have been unpredictable then ! Characters could have been flawed and grey then !

This is how Ranvir could have been an amazing character.

In this case even if AaBir were the endgame i wouldn't have minded at all coz we still would have got a beautiful story of three flawed characters..something unique and Ranvir's character would not have been butchered

Now what we have got is a predictiable, done to death story of a creepy psycho lover trying to separate Aabir ! SIgh !

If only writers knew what GREY MEANT !
