Hey M,
Just read your chapter 6, sorry in the delay in replying but I have been rather too busy at work.I like the interaction of the two youngsters, and has got to to think of Laajo's connection with Jay.I see that you are building up nicely to the key question of why Laajo is in a mental asylum or is she there at all?I look forward to the next chapter.
Chapter 7
Payal followed the address written behind Lajo's photograph and reached the place. The door of the house was locked. She inquired about the house from some neighbors but found nothing. Her eyes then fell on a tea stall a few feet away from the house which was owned by a very old man. She went up to him and asked if he knew anything about the house. He replied from his vague memory that long ago a girl with her parents lived there who left the place for unknown reasons and never showed up again.
Payal couldn't find a proper source of knowledge, so she decided to enter the house from an alternative way.
She went up to the house and tried opening the front window which was badly jammed but opened fortunately on continuous pushes. She entered the house through the window and went into the living room. Household stuff and furniture was all covered in a tattered piece of cloth. The house was muddy and dusty. It seemed like no one ever visited the place for ages. Insects and spiders were roving all over the place. The floor was completely covered with dirt and mud. She entered the house and looked closely at everything. She felt as if she had come to a haunted place.
She moved forward and entered a room. It seemed like a kitchen. She tried opening the cabinets but they were all jammed. She then went into the room besides the kitchen. There was nothing except for some cupboards and shoe racks in the room. It was all muddy and covered with some dirty cloth. She removed the cloth and tried exploring the cupboard but found nothing. She then went upstairs and noticed this very strange looking room. The door of that room had something written on it. She tried reading it but couldn't understand what it was due to the dirt over it. She opened the door and entered the room. It was full of books, some lying on the floor and some on the book shelf. She saw a large frame covered with a cloth at the corner of the room. She went up to it and removed the cloth. What she saw brought tears to her eyes. It was a painting of lajo. A beautiful painting. She looked like a princess in it. Payal had never seen such a detailed painting of a person. Lajo looked absolutely gorgeous in it. Payal fell in love with the painting so much that she decided to take it back home with her. She was extremely moved by it.
She then headed towards the book shelf and started checking them out. She saw this book named "In the sunshine" and was shocked to see the name of the author, Lajwanti Bhardwaj'. "She was an author??? No what!!? She never told me...!" Payal picked up some more books to find them all written by Lajo. She was shocked. Her eyes then fell on this book named "It was mine I thought, it never was"
She started reading the book and grew more and more interested as she advanced.
