Oh I've loved you from the start
In every single way
And more each passing day
You... are brighter than the stars
Believe me when I say
It's not about your scars
It's all about your heart!

Okay - so not quite my best week... I managed to get my fingers stuck in the car door the right hand at that... so I'm kinda lame with typing for a bit.
Buttt - how can I miss making posts now that my dear laptop is BACK! Luckily for you guys, bandaged numb fingers = shorter quicker analysis 😆 ... I think... 🤔
Highlights today:
* Since every human, chudail, and chuha inamte of the family has decided to play a vamp/villain role for the moment, the CVs decide its time to bring Champa out of the drawers and make her play cupid. So we get that lovely opening GK scene. ☺️
When the scene begins, there is deja vu of chotta Kesu, in the twenty something year old Kesar standing peeking around the door watching Gulaal breakdown in anguish. But the moment he catches her silently looking to Champa in desperation for the answer to why and how has she gone so wrong in an entire decade of her life... this grown up, mature Kesar in love can take no more, walks right in and becomes 'the husband in charge'! From totally rubbishing her warped logic of how she can harm him, like she has destroyed Vasant and Dushyant - to telling her simply and candidly that she is the only reason for all his happiness - Kesar has stepped further into his role reversal with Gulaal - where she is the sulking and upset kid, and him, the sensible mature who is concerned and agonized by her pain, and totally disagreeing of her silly fundas! When he asks her, who has been telling her all the BS, he's like this adult asking a kid where she has been learning all the wrong things! And oh that moment when he tells her it is his order as her husband is so, so significant - kudos to the way the CVs bring out such a wonderful blend of all the nuances of Kesar's character (and kudos ofc to Neil himself) - he's all at once the little boy who was once her responsibly and the man chosen for her by destiny - in both forms unable to bear watching his Gulaal in pain. Its elemental and characteristic of Kesar to order her as the legit husband she has accepted him to be for the time being, to not leave, and then in the same breath offer without a second of hesitance to leave himself, if at all one of them must stating ye tera kamra hai! Special mention to Kesar telling her she has no idea what delusional stuff she's talking anymore, but he knows exactly what he's thinking and saying! And the impact of that combination of statements on Gulaal is evident! She falls back to sit, still the pouting, and sulking and upset little girl who continues to think what she's saying is her only way out, but she doesn't like this solution one bit more than Kesar himself, so though his counter arguments do not convince her, they certainly weaken her resistance and she's just resigned and sad and still very lost. And the role reversal goes up by a notch, when Kesar becomes the smart adult who understands child psychology well, and realizes the best way to make a point to this 'little stubborn girl' sitting before him, is to talk in her tongue! So, he teams up with her bestie Champa! ☺️
The light and subtle but profound nuances in this Champa sequence are just as well written. I love how Kesar asks Champa how she is doing, and makes her answer back with an acchi.! The way he establishes an optimism in that little opening courteous exchange is so simple but effective in changing the mood! Then the way he proceeds to make Gullu smile - despite herself and her perpetual seeming misery ... is indicative of how there is nothing Kesar can't do - when the subject of seeming impossibility is Gulaal! The way he complains about Gulaal making a mess in the room, is such a deja vu of all the times Gulaal complains of Kesar being disorganized! I also thought it was wonderful, that right after Kesar asks Champa ab main kya karoon, in the lighter seeming vein, they share a brief smile, before Gulaal is solemn again, and echoes his exact question - to him! An unprecedented from the know-it-all savoir of the house, to be seeking help, that from him! And bravo Kesar, who does proud the essence of his character, and his responsibility both as her friend and husband. When he compares their dark hour with an eclipse... and the way Gulaal is innately compared with the sun in this parallel - it reminds me of the time he showed her a reflection of her smile in the mirror, and told her to keep it like that. Because when Gulaal smiles with all her heart, the sun truly shines down on this Talsagra home! The change of dynamics in their man and wife bond takes a huge step forward in this latter most part of the scene, with Gulaal seeking Kesar's advice. It has taken her time to reach this point, in going from a guardian in charge of the child he once was, to letting him stand in the step with her, as an equal, and as the man she can depend on, needs to depend on, just like he can and needs to depend on her - but now that it has come, how naturally she accepts it, and falls back on it - like it always was meant to be... and well, it really always was! 😳
* Someone please tell me why some precious minutes of the episode were wasted on SF? Really! I would have preferred a really brotherly conversation between MB and Giga anyday over the unnecessary sequence of SF telling them she has decided to go back and changing her mind in under seconds. Btw, I like how MB candidly claims both that Dushyant was as much his son as Giga's, and also, how for him he was above Kesar. There is so much substance in this man, and despite his current anti-Gulaal mode, you can't but sympathize with his side, and actually continue to admire him. Of course, tons of credit to the actor himself... if we still had the old PB, who knows, we may never have come to exactly hatethe character as such! Anway, the SF bit with Giga and MB has to be one of the blah-est scenes in the entire running of the show - no kidding! If there was a hidden agenda in it - I'm so utterly blind to it, I saw nothing except waste of time from our precious 16 episodes!
* The Kunal scene didn't seem as irrelevant as SF, but it sort of puzzled me. I thought the entire Kunal comes to know about the dowry angle was to expose Raman - but this scene seemed more like a conclusive resolution of the matter sealed with a Kulli scene where Talli actually looked hopeful and bright?! I'm not sure how the iron hand will come down on Raman anymore... Durgesh seems like the only possibility for now?! But now idea of how all those things and places and people and times will be woven in... Anyway - Sudha's take on Gulaal - remains mysteriously neutral so far?
*Revji Bha and MB scene was good. Even though MB was on quite another tangent as compared to Revji Bha - there was so much maturity to that scene in general, when it is pitted up against the PB-Revji sequence ... On a side note, did anyone realize how clever the CVs are? In the opening scene when Gullu is remembering the hurtful dialogs from all the ladies, even MB's silent treatment - the only person she doesn't remember is PB. I think the CVs realize they need to shunt her out every instance they can ... FBs are one place to begin 😆 Anyway - she was horrible in the last scene - that wannabe snarl on her face was like a poster still, because it refused to change or alter in the slightest, however many times the camera may zoom back to her!
But ignoring her, so proud of Revji Bha! Like I said for Friday - he is such an exemplary father who doesn't stand up for his daughter, just because he is her father, but because his understanding of her heart is so deep! The way he can trust her even without facts, and stand up for her in her darkest moment is absolutely laudable! 👏
*Precap - Wohooo Kesar, way to go! 🥳 Revji Bha, between the last time you were siding with Gulaal and now - I'm, so happy Kesar has evolved enough for you to have gone from holding him and his selfish interests responsible for her misery to now leaving her in that witch house only on his word of responsibility! Evolution in Kesar - but also, such mature foresightedness in you, to be able to entrust your daughter with Kesar despite getting a reality check of the conditions in that house otherwise. His trust in Kesar's assurance is so in time - someone is beginning to credit the poor guy for what he is worth! ...
Okay - I thought this would be short - turns out, the trade off with regard to my injury is the delay in making this post with how long I took typing this out, than brevity finally gracing my post ... too much to hope for! *sheepish*
Anyway - looking forward to everyone's two cents as always!
