Ok, so I really liked the dhol scene but I was a bit confused about it and had to watch it a few times to see what was going on...

The thing about the scene was that Gulaal was thinking about Vasant but at the same time she did not have that far away dreamy look. A few episodes back when she was in the jeep with Kesar and her friends...that was a crystal clear fb about Vasant because she was staring into empty space and thinking back to the song she had sung, automatically connecting it to Vasant.

I was watching this dhol scene and yes she was thinking about Vasant BUT she was looking directly at Kesar...I don't know if that makes sense at all! So, her fb had not taken her away from the present...which is watching Kesar play. In fact, her shock was not that she was thinking about Vasant but the fact that she is staring at Kesar with this look of joy, all teary eyed and connecting with him through the music! Not once during the entire scene did I see her drift off, her eyes never left Kesar..

Her shock was obviously due to some hidden feelings because when you think about it, why would she be embarrassed if someone caught her remembering Vasant? Even in the jeep, while singing her song she had been remembering Vasant and when she was done she openly wiped her tears...no shock or embarrassment.

At the end of the day Kesar is Vasant's younger brother and both of them shared this passion for music. In fact Gulaal's friends had made fun of Dushyant because unlike Vasant, he was not a musical sort of a person. So, I would imagine that the music in itself would touch Gulaal on a much deeper level!

I was expecting her to dance as well but I suppose all of Manasi's scenes have been shot separately which might have presented some technical difficulties. Would have been amazing to see Gulaal and Kesar dance though!

Okay - I rewatched the scene, again - and realized another thing... the point of lyrics goes taras gaye hain naina, chavv dikhlaao na ... at the exact point that she's staring at Kesar, and her Vasant mode is over... it's another second of so of staring at Kesar no longer being in her past, before she snaps out of it - and when she does, it's all in self reproach! Its not ike Gulaal has not had her Vasant moments before, and technically, if it was a Vasant moment, I think she would have nothing to be 'reproachful' about to herself - even if she was noticed! Thing is the way she snaps out, and then even hits her head slightly, is all about how she had been all love for Kesar in that one moment! It shocks her, jumps at her, and she looks about hurriedly in worry - because anyone looking at her at that point would have seen the love... I think her realization is not about mixing Vasant and Kesar, but about having been mesmerized by Kesar himself for a moment there - the moment right after the piyu maari ends, and right before she snaps! Unlike the moment in the jeep - she doesn't close her eyes imagining Vasant - she is all eyes for Kesar - live with the dhol in front of her - until she realizes that's what she's doing! ☺️

But that's it about the scene from me now, promise! 😆 I had better be getting back to work! So long everyone... !

To Snakes and ladders, and a charged GK bedroom scene tomorrow. Amen. 😍

@bold - OMG OMG OMG - damn!!! are you like reading my mind!!! I just got done posting my latest comment saying EXACTLY that! and then I read your comment! THIS IS FREAKY ANJ! 😆

okay reading the rest of your comment now... *deep breathing*

*EDIT*

Dame!!! Your entire comment is exactly what I just said!! And I only had this thought on this re-watch of the scene, after which I made the comment - we must have some divine telepath connection - add this to our list! 🤣

Need I say I agree to all you said now?! Considering you and I said the same thing almost the same moment?! Lol! Yes! Vasant was there - but like I've been saying, it wasn't about Vasant. And that is what shocked and embarrassed Gulaal - not the fact that she was thinking about Vasant, but that she wasn't! That it was about Kesar - her love, and her memory! The way she jumped out of her trance had no nostalgia written on it - it was all about shock, revelation, and self reproach - and of course, guilt about being caught!

Anjali and Jzee you both make a lot of sense! 😃

When she usually remembers Vasant, those tears in her eyes are of sadness but today she was HAPPY seeing Kesar perform on that dhol.

Would it be presumptuous to say that possibly Kesar's was overshadowing Vasant's memories? Before it just used to be about Vasant but now she is looking on at Kesar and it's almost like her present is becoming heavy on her past now.

That didn't make sense!

@Jzee: You're right about Kesar not having any confusion in his mind anymore. It's all about Gulaal's feelings! I hope we see another cute fight tomorrow. Assuming they're playing a game there's always room for a nok jhok :P

You know the way the scene follows from the point Gulaal snaps out? She looks around in worry, she lightly hits her head, she shakes it at herself, and finally when Kesar pulls everyone else to dance, she does this deep breathing to sort of tell herself it's okay - it was ... just a moment!. And then, she laughs at the way Kesar is making everyone have fun! In a way - she not only accepts that moment was Kesar's she also has a fond feeling for Kesar moment to follow up! Something unimaginable few days ago! Imagine say a week ago, if Gulaal had found herself caught in a trance for Kesar, would she have followed it up with a laugh at Kesar's antics moment?! Uh, no! This is what has changed since that day when she offered to be his friend. From that time on, the attraction dynamics has reversed! This has to be one of those epic times she didn't pull off her vintage Galool ostrich!

BTW - I know people found Kesar funny with the dhol - but I must be mad cause I loved loved loved that energy! I loved his expression and the way he's going at it - so different from the 'poise' Vasant had even when he was exhilarated in playing the drum I love how that sets him apart in being KESAR! I think the entire stance of him playing the dhol was screaming of elemental Kesar - and I was all aww over him ☺️ Can someone make me an AVI of that pweeety please?! Kesar at the drums was yummy energy 😆 Not so much to say about his 'garba' though. Apni wannabe 🤣shaadi se lekar Kunal ki shaadi tak kuch improvement nahin aya!

@ Anjali - I know right! That was freaky coincidental, haha! *hi five*

I think the only issue some of us had is that we don't want Gulaal to see Vasant in Kesar but I think you guys are right, it was more about Gulaal having these emotions towards the atmosphere which once created that magic. Otherwise there are no real parallels between Vasant and Kesar! I don't see any other opportunity where Kesar will remind Gulaal of Vasant. Today she felt that pull towards Kesar which she had felt with Vasant...that type of love.

It's similar to their mouth cupping moment, she knew it was a 'moment' but then she carried on without making things more awkward for both of them (even though you could tell from her expressions that she wasn't 'over' that closeness even when Kesar went to leave her).

Gulaal's eyes were fixated on Kesar and if it was about Vasant then she wouldn't be smiling so much seeing Kesar.
