Wahin Batein

[At the dinining hall of Badi Haveli]

(Sudha and Gulaal served the food for all the members. After a while)

Gulaal: Woh, ghar se phone aagaya tha...Meri ek bachpan ki saheli hein..Rashipur main,...woh kahin dino se mujse milna chahthi thi..aur Ba keh rahi thi ki, woh log kal videsh jaa rahe hein aur jaane se pehle (sideglanced at Kesar) humse milna chahthe hein (Kesar while taking food, raised his eyes and looked at her) aur mein soch rahi thi ki agar aap logon ko koi takleef nahin hein tho...

Paanba:arey kaise baathein kar rahi hein Gulaal..humein kyun taqleef honge..tu ja beta..jaake apni saheli se milkar aa ...(looked at Motaba)..kyun na Motaba?

Motaba(happily):Aur nahin tho kya..balki mein tho kehtha hun ki, do din apni ghar rukhkar aa beta..tumhara bhi bahut mann kar raha hoga na apni Ba-Bapuji se milne ki

(Kesar who was drinking water suddenly choked at the mention of 2 DAYS)

Dushyanth(patted his head in concern): Kya hua Kesar?

Kesar:(stammered) K..kuch nahin..(hurriedly)Acha mein chaltha hun..Dushayanth ba aap bhi aayiye na..(and walked towards the door, while Motaba called him)
Motaba(smiling): Kesar..kaarghaane se dhoda jaldi lotna..Gulaal ke saath jaana hein na tuje

Kesar(trying hard to suppress his sudden excitement, he made a serious face) par Motaba aap tho jaanthe hein na, kaarghaane main ithna kaam pada hein aur agar mein yahan nahin hoga tho..

Motaba:Tu iske saath nahin jaayega tho kaisa chalega..un logon ne tum dono ko bulaaya hein, aur agar Gulaal akeli jaayegi tho.unhe bura lagega na beta.

Kesar(confused): Par Motaba..(Dushyanth interrupted)

Dushyanth(placed his hand over Kesar's shoulder): Kaam ki baath lekar tum chintha mat karo..mein sambhalunga..(with a smile)apne chotte bhai ke liye ithna tho mein kar hi saktha hun.

Kesar:(to hide his embarrasment): Ab mein chaltha hun..aap bhi aayiyena Dushyanthba..(he side glanced at Gulaal and with a smile he left)

[At Rashipur]

(Kesar and Gulaal have returned from the visit and while entering her house)

Poonam(in excitement): Arey tum log aagaye..

(Kesar seeked her blessings)

Poonam:Sukhi raho beta..Gulaal, pehle yeh batao ki wahan sab kaise raha?

Gulaal(contented voice)Usse aur uski pariwar se milkar bahut acha laga Ba...bahut hi ache log hein..Mere saath Kesar ko dekhkar usse bhi bahut khushi hui (Gulaal and Poonam continued their chatting, while in between...)
Kesar(in a bit disturbed tone): Ba mein zara kamre main jaatha hun.

Poonam(concerned):Kya hua beta..tere tabiyath tho teek hein?

Kesar:(in a tired voice): Kuch nahin Ba..bas thoda sa sar dard hein (and walked towards the room)

Poonam:(worried)..Kesar ko kya hogaya beta..

Gulaal(seriously): Mein zara dekhkar aathi hun..

Poonam: Jaldi jaa beta..

[Gulaal reached the room and found Kesar standing near the window all irritated]

Gulaal(in a sad tone she pleeded): Kuch tho bol Kesar, mujse..kisi aur ka gussa muj par kyun nikaal raha hein..aakhir rasthe main jo kuch bhi hua, uss main meri kya galthi...(before she could complete, Kesar shouted at her)

Kesar: GALTHI...GALTHI THO HAMESHA KESAR KA HI HOTHA HEINA..CHAHE USS DIN HO, YA PHIR AAJ...

Gulaal(At the verge of tears): Kesar..meine aisa thodi na kaha hein...mein tho bas..

Kesar(in a choked voice): Nahin Gulaal..mein yeh sab bardaash nahin kar saktha..nahin bardash kar saktha ki mere saamne koi tere saath batameezi kare..(raging in anger) uss badmaash ka ithni himmath?, ki mere aankhon ke saamne tuje haath lagaaya..jee tho kar raha tha ki uska haath hi kaat daal dun..

Gulaal(cried out): Wahin..wahin baath ka muje darr tha Kesar..(she calmed herself) mein tera gussa jaanthi hun...mein jaanthi hun ki tu mere liye kis hadh tak jaa saktha hein..aur uss waqt mujse zyaada muje teri phikhar thi...Aakhir uss din jo mandir main hua tha...(traces of fear were evident in her face)

(Her words brought tears in his eyes and he tried to smile through his tears while he hold her shoulders and made her face towards him)

Kesar(huskily): Uss din jo mandir main hua tha,...uss keliye tho mein bahut kuch sunn chukka tha, tujse bhi aur Motaba se bhi..(in a teasing tone) uss waqt tho mein naadaan tha na..lekin ab tho mein achcha bachcha hun na..tho phir tuje kaise laga ki mein phir se aise koi harqat kar dalunga...(raised his eye brows)

Gulaal(a bit shy): Mere saath agar koi badmaashi karein aur tu haath main haath daalkar baite rahein...aise main tho tu mera Kesar hi nahin hosaktha na...

Kesar(leaned some more towards her): Aisa kyun??

Gulaal(sulked a bit): Jaane de Kesar..ab kaise kaise bathein lekar baita hein(she tried to move but he strengthened his grip )

Kesar:( asked in anticipation):Bathaana...

Gulaal(lowered her eyes): Ab tu hi tho kehtha hein ki, tu mujse pyaar kartha hein..

(His curiousness suddenly disappesared and he loosened his grip and stepped backward and she walked towards the door with a shy smile, while his voice stopped her)

Kesar(in a stern but soft voice): Gulaal..

(She stopped and turned to face him)

Kesar: Tab bhi tu yein sab jaanthi thi na?

Gulaal(her smile vanished and became a bit nervous,and trying to brush it off): Baa bula rahi hein..(and tried to walk away while Kesar urged)

Kesar: Muje jawaab nahi mila Gulaal.

Gulaal:(in a stern voice) Shaayad...(after a momentary silence)...Kaash mein samach paatha

( and left, while Kesar nodded to himself)

[Rashipur: In their room, At night]

(Gulaal entered the room and saw Kesar was setting his bed on the floor as usual, every time she felt a sense of guilt on seeing him lying on the floor, the thought of she being the sole reason for the same, even after each and every issues were sorted out between them made her even more sad...his love for her was always true, but her accusations, no matter under what circumstances, had certainly left a deep sore in his heart, for it was or still, is far beyond his tolerance)

Gulaal:(a bit hesitantly) K..Kesar..tu khaat par bhi tho so saktha hein na...

Kesar(while spreading the sheet he said casually with a smile): Tuje tho patha hein na... farsh pe sothe sothe ab khaat par mera aankh hi nahin lagtha (laughed a bit and turned to sleep)

(Gulaal thought something and was about to say, but he had dozed off by the time)

[Late hours of night]

(Kesar, in his sleep, turned the other side while collided with something and opened his eyes but was shocked than surprised to find Gulaal lying near him. at once he woke up and sat over there)

Kesar:(stammered in shock) G..Gulaal..Tu yahan kya kar rahi hein?

Gulaal(in the lying position she turned her face towards him and with a smile she said playfully)...Woh kya hein na ki mere pati jo heina unhe farsh pe sone ki aadat pad gaye hein..tho meine socha ki agar mein bhi isi aadath daldun tho behthar hoga...bas ithni si baath hein..tu so ja (and turned her face while trying hard to suppress her laugh.)

(Kesar looked at her in biwilderment for a while but after some moments a sweet mischievous smile turned on his face and facing the other side he too slept)

[The next night at Badi Haweli]

(Gulaal after her daily chores entered the room and was surprised to find neither his bed nor he on the floor but on the cot)

Gulaal(walked towards him and sat on the other side and in a confused tone): Tu ne tho kaha tha ki tuje farsh par sona pasand hein...tho..

Kesar(playfully): Meine kahan tho tha, lekin meri pathni jo hein na ..usse farsh par sone ki bilkul aadath nahin hein..

(On hearing this Gulaal looked at him in amusement)

Kesar:Aisa kyun dekh rahi hein?

(Gulaal noded a nothing)

Kesar: Tho so jaana..(and turned the other side with a smile)

(Gulaal had a wide smile on her face and slept peacefully)
