No one can keep giving in a relationship all the time! There will be something called resentment. So that shows up in various forms. Some people show it by controlling the other and some other by acting it out like shouting, demeaning basically there are various ways to express resentment. So that’s what will happen eventually. They have to let it out at one point. The more they keep silent the more the breakdown will be… either sai or virat!

virat is insecure because obviously due to age matters. She is young going to college and meeting people. The inmates of CN is not helping him in this matter. He knows sai is upset with them. He is making sure she ’sees’ him and find a reason to be with him. Till now he has been patient but as I said in other comments, you can only hold your love and affection for someone only for some time. He has too much to give but is being pulled back hesitating that sai has not shown any indication in that direction. So he keeps showing his love in other ways .. and sometimes expects also. What happens when someone doesn’t return what you want? It hurts. It is real 😩. What do people do when they are hurt. ? Be nice? NO

Sai definitely loves him. More than what he is expecting from her. It is so evident in her care for him. The way she wanted him to assert his haq on her to stop her from leaving shows how much she wants to be with him. But she doesn’t see him romantically because she thinks she is not desirable for him. She has ‘pakhi’ block in her head. She doesn’t approach him in the fear of rejection. As Lakshmi pointed out here may be she is in denial.. she is attracted to him and she knows now there is no deal ( after he stopped her) so in a way she knows what’s going to happen but still afraid that she could get hurt. Till her mental block of pakhi doesn’t go away, she can’t see virat in the way virat wants her to see him… like a lover. In other areas she is so protective of Him. He too knows that she cares and respects him. He has to understand that she is just not there when it comes to intimacy. But will he?

Sorry it is hard to decipher what they are feeling . But I can feel the tension.

I was upset with Virat saying jab tak tum is ghar pe ho recently. I get that he was jealous but by speaking this, he has only pushed Sai further away. Yes, she says she will be leaving the house one day but when he loves her, wants her to stay with him forever, can also see that she is not comfortable with him and Pakhi, then why speak anything that will make it look as if he agrees with her or he also thinks that she isn’t going to stay in the house forever? He is aware of his feelings, even if he is not confessing, he could have not said that because that is only going to confuse Sai even more. So it is not just because of Pakhi that Sai feels insecured, this guy too messes up in some way or the other in their already complicated life.

I understand the emotions Virat might be feeling (and how beautifully you have explained it as usual!). And I agree with the part about resentment - all of us are selfish. But I cannot condone or understand his actions(if it is as bad as we think).

It would be different if it was a normal marriage - where they promised each other of commitment and fidelity. But it was Virat who sprung the deal marriage on her...so if there is no commitment, it's on him. No point in feeling cheated.

To me, although his emotions are of insecurity, his actions smack more patriarchal possessiveness than insecurity. And it is gender-neutral. Even if a woman did this, it is despicable.

@bold I agree, you have put it beautifully. Though the actions cannot be justified, his emotions can be understood.

About his hesitation to pull back, I am sorry I have a different view about this. His hesitation made sense in the past but not anymore. He had a few opportunities to come clean with Sai, to confess his feelings but he failed to. He didn’t fear rejection at that period of time actually. His focus has shifted from confessing to make her admit her feelings which I find it silly or stupid or even foolish.

Also, earlier, I could always understand his hesitation, but when he saw how messed up things are when Sai confronted him recently, he could have put an end to it once and for all. I would always say, one shouldn’t fear about rejection and it doesn’t even make sense for him to worry about rejection during the recent past when he could have confessed but chose not to even after he has heard from his friend that Sai could have feelings for him, even after he himself could see Sai getting affected of his and Pakhi’s relationship.

Now, he has lost that time because Sai has started to act in denial. Sometimes they say that when one loses time, they can’t get it back. He had a good opportunity to but he lost it. Let’s hope she doesn’t start to maintain distance with him and he doesn’t start to get more insecured.

We all blame Pakhi for being the mental block for Sai to take the next step but like laksh said Virat also contributes knowingly ( in Devi Tai issue) or unknowingly ( by saying jabtak tum is ghar Mein ) etc.

Just in previous episode he said life partner and when Sai repeated changed it to pati.

He should have observed the pleasant surprise on Sai’s face when he uttered life partner. I feel he didn’t.

Yeah he has ego too. We have seen this during PD lunch episode. But till now atleast he is not showing that in this track

I don’t want to give away the story from KD, but there when sai is in hospital he says to mohit that ‘he didn’t think his words will hurt her that much because he thought he is not important to her’. He is in that mind space.

Yes what he does is not correct but what I am saying is he cannot measure his actions always! Especially when he is under so much stress!

I am not justifying his actions but trying to understand why the character behaves like that.
