Maan is already suspicious about this arrangement. Things do not seem completely up and up to him. Geet on the other hand is not willing to see any good in the middle class family and her husband. Neither ia making any effort and none was expected or required either. Only Maan's family believes this to be real. Everyone else knows the score.
Geet does not trust that Maan did not take any money. She thinks he a bought man. But she got a little taste of the dignity he possesses. He will not let her have any hold over him and be a doormat for her to walk on. He will stay out of her way but he will not compromise his ideals for her.
Geet is surprised by his confidence and strong persona. She was not expecting that.
