Chapter 61
"How come we're in Santorini?" Geet looked at Maan confused; she remembered he'd mentioned they'd stay in Chania town first.
"Chania is very big and really just as beautiful, but they're known for their history. Santorini is where you'll find lots of activities" Maan explained. "I promised not to let you get bored remember?"
Geet smiled shyly and walked alongside him as they were shown to their suite. Geet was already in awe of Greece as soon as she stepped down their airplane. The beauty of this country couldn't be explained, there was really something about this place.
Geet stared surprised once they entered their apartment, she was sure she gasped. The suite was spacious and extraordinary, she decided to explore whilst Maan exchanged words with the concierge.

"So do you like it then?" Maan stepped out onto the balcony joining Geet as she'd already gone around their suite exploring excitedly.
"I love it! It's so beautiful" she glanced over her shoulder smiling widely. "I still can't believe this entire floor is just our suite" she commented. "And we've got our own pool" she pointed.
"Yeah it is quite large, we're also at the top floor so if you decide to ever swim, no one would see you" he winked making her smile shyly. "Anyways what would you like to do first? Change and eat out or we could eat in if you're tired" he questioned noting she dipped her eyes from him.
"I'd like to start unpacking first" she replied. "I don't mind going out as well" she added shrugging her shoulders wondering if he wanted to go out and eat.
"It's okay. I'll order in for us and we can unpack till the food arrives" he responded heading inside and picking up the phone, calling the restaurant downstairs he placed an order.
Geet stepped back inside sliding the window doors closed behind her and headed to their bedroom, Maan had placed their suitcase near the nightstand.
She was just reaching for it when he joined her and lifted it up and placed it on their bed.
"It's heavy Geet" he looked over his shoulder unzipping the suitcase.
"I could have managed" she replied. "We didn't bring our whole house with us, it's only a few clothes" she pointed out frowning when she noticed packets stuffed into the side.
"What's this?" she pulled the packets out which happened to be 3 and stared confused at Maan.
"I don't know" he responded watching as she opened the packets, her cheeks heated when she learned they were swimsuits and familiar swimsuits which she'd seen with only one person.
"Maan" she turned her head to him. "I told you I'm not comfortable wearing them and you still went ahead buying it"
"And I said you wouldn't know till you try it on" he placed his hand on her shoulder, Geet dipped her eyes unsurely. "Dekho I won't force you or coerce you into wearing it, I bought it along because you might desire to go swimming, and it's best to have something in hand" he explained gently. "There's also some sarongs that'd be like a skirt so..." he trailed off not knowing what else to say.
"Thank you" Geet looked up after a moment shyly. "Um... I just..."
"It's okay, you don't need to say anything" Maan smiled warmly.
Geet nodded and turned to continue unpacking, she pulled their clothes out whilst Maan grabbed a couple of clothes hangers and placed them on. Geet discreetly grabbed her inners when he was placing the clothes in the large wardrobe and stuffed it into the bottom chest drawer. By the time they'd finished unpacking their food also arrived.
"Do you want to go sightseeing today or want to something else?" Maan queried as they sat down eating pizza in the living room. "Or we could do a bit of both"
"I don't know, what have you got in mind?" she replied.
"Wait, I'll just go grab something" Maan walked out the room and returned with a small diary sitting down beside her again. "We can do canoeing, kayaking, yacht cruise, hiking, tours, snorkelling, diving, sailing cruise, underwater safari tour" he informed her.
"You actually planned so much?" she inquired.
"I want to make the most of our holiday, we're not really going to be getting another easily with Vikrant's wedding and your exams that are coming up in the summer..." he reminded. "Plus we don't want to be getting bored"
Geet smiled. "Um... can we go to the beach?"
"Yeah sure, we can head off once we get ready" he nodded standing up.
Geet grabbed her clothes heading into the washroom to change, whilst Maan changed in the room into his long shorts and white shirt. Once he changed he grabbed their towels, sunscreen lotion, sunglasses and grabbed two bottles of water from the fridge and placed them into the beach bag that Geet had insisted on buying when they'd gone shopping (he was glad now seeing as they were going to be needing it), after that he called dadima whilst he waited for Geet to finish.
"Maan, how are you?" Dadima questioned happily. "Have you reached Greece safely?"
"I'm good dadima, we've reached Greece as well" he replied. "How are you doing?"
"Busy with preparing a wedding seeing as you ran off with my bahu on a honeymoon" Dadima responded teasingly.
"Will you ever stop dadima?" Maan rolled his eyes.
"Maan, I'm your grandmother, what do you think son?" she queried.
"I get it" Maan chuckled.
"Where's Geet? Give it to her"
"She's in the washroom changing" he responded.
"Why is she in the washroom? You're her husband"
"Dadima!" Maan exclaimed incredulously.
Dadima laughed.
"Okay you've lost it woman, I'll call you later" he responded.
"I won't joke like that" dadima snickered.
"Bye dadima, I'll call you later. Sober up" he cut the call shaking his head, he looked up and noticed Geet dressed and waiting. She'd slipped into grey t-shirt and her black length jeans, she'd slipped on a simple necklace and a bracelet, simple yet she looked beautiful.
"Ready?" he pocketed his phone.
She nodded in response.
"Great, let's go then" he gestured handing Geet her beach bag, she smirked knowingly. They left their suite locking up behind them. Maan turned his head to Geet smiling when she laced her fingers with his as they walked downstairs together. Maan asked the receptionist to call them a taxi, once the taxi arrived they settled inside and headed towards Perivolos beach where he learned there were a couple of shops and cafes.
Geet slipped off her sandals once they arrived at the beach, she excitedly walked over sitting herself down on the sunbeds, Maan took the sunbed beside her sliding on his sunglasses as the sun hit him directly in the face. She pulled the lotion out dabbing it over her face, arms and her legs. "Want some?" she questioned holding it out to Maan.
"No, I'd put some on before we headed out" he replied.
She nodded placing the lotion back into her beach bag, then shoved her bag under her sunbed then lay down enjoying the feel of the warm sun on her face. Maan admired her watching her just lying down and enjoying the day outside, he couldn't have imagined anyone else enjoying such simple things on their first holiday out of the country. But Geet seemed pleased.
"Ek baat batao" Geet opened her eyes turning her head to him.
"hmm?" he stared inquisitively.
"Right now it would have been a good time for me to read a book" she informed. "I'm jealous of that woman there" she gestured with her eyes.
Maan laughed. "Already bored?"
"No, I'm just saying... books are good for beaches" she muttered.
"What is it with books though?" Maan asked her. "Isn't it like the same trashy recycled stuff they show on tv serials?"
"It's not like your newspaper or your news channel Maan. It isn't depressing" she responded.
"Geet watching news and reading news isn't depressing, it's good to be up to date with what's happening around us" he informed.
"I'm not saying it's bad, it's just depressing. Most of the things that make the news are usually depressing and sad" she shrugged. "Books they give you an escape from reality..." she trailed off pausing for a moment recalling the times where the books were an escape from her personal hell. "Shall I tell you something?" she looked at him smiling faintly.
"Go on, I'm listening" he pulled his sunglasses off focusing on her.
"Mama got me into reading, she'd pick out a book for me, or borrow it from our neighbour and she'd tell me to read. And I know she done it because she wanted me to in a way forget reality for a bit" she confessed. Maan stared at her silently then nodded.
They were disturbed when someone approached them offering to sell a massage.
"You beautiful madam" the man complimented. "Massage good" he pointed to his box.
"No thanks" Maan cut in narrowing his eyes. "Leave"
"Sir massage..."
"Go" Maan responded authoritatively.
Geet giggled when the man walked away.
"What's funny Geet?" Maan looked at her amused raising his brows.
"His face" she chuckled. "He looked like he was going to faint or something when you told him to go"
"Your face makes those same expressions" Maan reminded.
"I don't" Geet responded defensively.
"You do, it's either you being scared of something or you're always shying away" he informed.
"Maan" Geet frowned blushing in embarrassment. "Stop it na.." she murmured.
"See you're shy again" Maan laughed.
"I hate you" she mouthed then turned her head and closed her eyes, Maan only laughed silently.
Once they'd spent enough time lying down on the sunbeds, Maan suggested they walk around for a while, which Geet agreed to. After their walk, Maan took her to the nearby souvenir shops where they window shopped as neither wanted to do any shopping just yet. They'd gone to a caf getting themselves an ice cold soft drink and Nutella warm crepes to snack on. Maan did grab some essentials such as coffee, milk, sugar, hot chocolate powder and some bread and butter on their way back to the suite as Geet and he did have their hot drinks throughout their day.
"What do you want to do now?" Maan questioned after they put away the things he'd bought.
"Nothing, I'm just going to watch some tv" she replied taking a seat in the living room.
"Okay, I'm just going to make a call because Aditya has text me something" he informed, Geet nodded smiling, Maan then walked out onto the balcony and made his call.
Geet stepped out onto their balcony an hour later feeling bored as she couldn't find anything else interesting, she'd watched a little tv, responded to Amelia and Meera's text, she ignored Vikrant's because he was as usual teasing her. She looked around and found Maan lying on his back with his eyes closed. Her eyes drew however over him, he'd lain bare chested and only in his shorts he'd worn this morning when they'd gone out. His shirt was shucked off bunched in a ball on the other chair.
Her eyes rested on his large arms, those arms had been wrapping around her every night, and she'd always rested her head against his chest every night before she dozed, the sound of his heart beating is the last sound she hears before she sleeps.
She averted her eyes realizing she'd been staring for quite some time, she covered her lips with her fingers as she blushed recalling something she'd read recently.
"He would reach for me in the middle of the night, nearly every single night, wrapping one of those solid arms around my waist and pulling me in close. So. Close."
Chelsie Shakespeare, The Pull
Maan had been doing the same, he'd pull her close in their sleep, and she enjoyed it. There weren't any words to explain the comfort she finds in his arms, she felt wanted, desired and loved, and his hold was possessive and protective. Geet glanced over her shoulder to catch another brief glance but Maan was now awake and sat up.
"What?" Maan raised his brows questioningly.
"Nothing" she shook her head with a small smile. "It's just..." She walked over taking a seat beside him. "I've not seen you sleeping during the day at all" she murmured softly.
"Well we've been out for quite a while and it's really hot so I'm feeling a little tired" Maan shrugged.
"Mmhmm" she nodded. "Anyways speaking of tired, I'm bored and you promised not to let me get bored" she reminded arching her brows inquisitively.
"Okay, what do you want to do?"
"I'm tired and we've been out. I just want to lie down here and read my book" she answered. "But I can't do that now" she drawled out.
"Geet we can do something together" he suggested wrapping his arm around her shoulder.
"We can, we can lie down here together, you can sleep under the sun and I'll read under the sun" she mumbled trying to ignore the warmth that radiated from his bare skin. "Well we could have done that if I was allowed to bring my book with me"
"Are you taunting me?" Maan questioned.
"Telling you what we could have done isn't taunting, and I'm bored" she complained.
"Remember the bookstore downstairs, the one that we'd passed" Maan reminded.
"What about it?" She turned her head to him focusing properly.
"Why don't you get yourself a book and come back here and we'll do what you suggested" he replied pulling his wallet out from his back pocket and handing it to her.
"You're not coming?" She asked.
"I'll make us some hot drinks" he responded.
"Okay" she shrugged standing up and slipped into her sandals. Maan walked into their suite with her heading towards the kitchen whilst Geet headed out the door.
"You back Geet, how come it took half an hour?" Maan called out hearing the door opening, when he didn't hear a response he walked in and saw her heading towards their bedroom.
"Geet" he called, she turned and smiled sheepishly. "What are you hiding?" He questions noting she had her hands behind her back.
"Um nothing" she smiled faintly though seemed puzzled.
"Geet" Maan stared at her silently, she sighed and slowly brought her hands to the front.
"I thought you're just getting a book" he spoke reducing the distance between them curiously staring at the carrier bag she held in her hand. Geet chewed on her lower lip as he neared her.
"What did you buy?" He asked.
"Book..." She mumbled.
"You need a carrier bag for one book?" He looked at her amused.
"And I got some other things" she admitted.
"What else did you buy?" He pointed to the carrier bag.
She slowly opened the carrier bag, Maan peeked in staring down surprised then looked at her. Geet bit her cheeks blushing furiously.
"What the hell is all that?" He chuckled.
"Bookmarks, quoted keyrings and just some... Badges and magnets" she murmured.
"You're crazy Geet" Maan laughed. "What will you do with..." He reached in pulling out the bookmarks. "10 bookmarks"
"The guy gave me a discount" she explained. "I got 4 books and then he told me about the offers on the bookmarks and the keyrings"
Maan stared incredulously, he laughed shaking his head at her.
"I know you're laughing at me" she grabbed her bookmarks from him dumping it back into the carrier bag. "I don't like you anymore Maan" she turned walking towards their bedroom.
"Arre Geet I was just joking, c'mon you can take some selfies with your new books"
She glanced at him over her shoulder narrowing her eyes at him. "I'm not talking to you anymore"
"Alright forget I said anything" he smiled following her into their bedroom. Geet didn't look at him, Maan smiled inwardly creeping up behind her and slipped his arms around her and rested his chin on her shoulder.
"I was just teasing you Geet" he kissed her cheek. "C'mon lets go outside, you can read your book and I'll sleep under the sun like you suggested" he brushed his lips against her cheek once again. "I've also got some hot chocolate ready for you"
"It's going to be cold now" she muttered ignoring the way his chest felt against her back.
"I'll make you a fresh one" he replied.
"With cream and chocolate sprinkles"
"This isn't a barista cafe darling" he responded.
"Fine..." She smiled.
"Go, I'll bring you a fresh new hot chocolate out" he gestured, Geet nodded grabbing her book and walked out.
"Here's your drink Geet" Maan placed it on the coffee table then sat down pulling her book out of her hand.
"Maan what are you doing?" She frowned stretching her hand out for her book, Maan didn't answer instead he placed a cushion in her lap and lay down with his head resting now on her lap.
"It's only fair you let me rest properly" he winked handing her book back.
"How do you expect me to get my drink or read now?" She questioned.
"I'm in front of you Geet, you can read me" he closed his eyes smiling inwardly.
"No thank you, you're not very interesting" she replied.
"Which I disagree to" he opened his eyes staring up at her.
"Your work, watching news or reading the newspaper is your favourite hobby and you have the same expression on your face like this" she responded making an expressionless straight face.
"My favorite hobby lately Geet has been kissing you" he responded bluntly making Geet blush furiously. Heat spread her cheeks, her book fell from her hand when Maan slowly slipped his hand around her nape pulling her down, she closed her eyes when she felt his lips brushing against hers.
She was taken aback when he pulled away sitting up and faced her, she was even more surprised when he cradled both her cheeks and pulled her close and pressed his lips atop of hers. "I couldn't kiss you properly lying down" he muttered softly against her lips. Geet slipped her arms around his neck responding back slowly letting Maan's kiss consume her thoughts. The book lay on the floor and the warm drinks grew cold.
