Maan watched Geet play with the teenage boys and girls who had come in to help as volunteers.


Pink from running with the basketball, her hair flying behind her, she passed the ball to a smaller girl who was shy.

It was a good game going until an older boy bumped into her.

She smiled in her innocence but Maan felt his hackles rise.

His shoulder hurt a bit less, his leg was better but there was no cure for possessiveness.

Quickly abandoning his medical coat, he rolled up his sleeves and walked in.

The boys laughed, "You are going to play?"

The skinny boys snickered amongst themselves until he dropped the crutch to one side and removed his shirt.

Geet eyed him from below her lashes thinking what she had thought the first time she had laid eyes on him.

Haiye! Main marjawaan!



Full of attitude Maan grabbed the basketball that the girl passed him.

Turning to the boys he said, "No. I am going to teach you how to play!"
