Part 56: Reaped glory
'Challo challo, hurry up they would be here soon' Dadi shouted from the top of the stairs
'You go to the reception to fetch the flowers, NOW' Dadi urged pointing at a random employee
'No no 7th floor and have you got two cakes' Dev instructed over the phone
'Tasha run' Naintara reprimanded looking down at her hideously pointed heels, why would someone wear weapons like that to work was beyond Naintara's understanding. Everyone at the office were working as efficiently as possible, within the next few minutes Geet and Maan were about to enter along with Pari and Yash, and as planned Dadi wanted to gift them a little surprise which comprised of flowers, balloons, cakes and all things pink completely ignoring their male counterparts in this celebration.
'We're in the basement, copy that' Pinky secretly informed the co-ordinates of Geet, Pari and Yash to Naina while the driver buzzed Dev about Maan's.
'Everything must be perfect' Dadi voiced before running near the entrance to check on the cake.
'I don't understand why you made me wear this' Pari moaned looking down at her churidaar, she never wore Asian and that too to work.
'Sweetheart you look really pretty' Yash complimented trying to help Pari who ranted on and on about her discomfort.
'It looks nice on you' both Geet and Pinky agreed while entering the lift, poor Pinky she was the one that was pregnant yet it was Pari who threw the toys out of the pram
'I'll look forward to seeing you Mr Mehta' Maan rushed in without realising his lady love shying away to the corner of the lift
'Morning jiju' Pinky chirped smiling at the fortune, perfectly in time. This would go down in history, the best surprise party ever
'Morning' he replied looking at Geet who was dressed in a simple red salwar kameez looking no less than his bride, aww and the thought of that made him a happy happy man
'Challo challo' Dadi screamed from the top of her lungs making Naintara run the other way to switch off the lights
BING and the lift stopped at the floor
'What's happening here?' Pari enquired looking at the silent eerie office plunged into darkness
'Is it a Saturday?' Yash questioned looking at his watch, they had an important meeting for the Adventure Park calendared for today but something seems a miss
'Maan' Geet voiced pulling out and stopping here her man who held her protectively
'Yash get the lights will you, the switch is over there' Maan asked seeing how awkward everyone looked
'Why should I?' Yash immediately jumped not wanting to separate from the crowd, it was a fact the first to go was always the first to be killed which he couldn't risk, not when his dream woman accepted to marry him.
With a 'hmph' the group walked further down the corridor reaching the centre when suddenly a loud cheer erupted and the lights flickered on showcasing the hard work of the employee's and the Khuranna family taking them by shock which soon turned into full-blown smiles. While everyone was busy congratulating the new couples, Dadi's attention was glued to the door.
'Thank you Dadi' came the honest appreciation from Maan seeing Geet laugh in joy totally ignoring the fact that it was Pari who was tickling her non-stop
'I'm falling for her more each day' he whispered more to himself than anyone else finally catching Dadi's divided attention.
Sasha stood at the entrance witnessing a total difficult aura, the floor was filled with colleagues laughing and joking, while a busy Geet stood cutting the cake and Pari delivered. If this was a shock then Maan opening planting a kiss on Geet's cheek, took her breath away. What exactly happened while she was away? Soon the joy turned into silent whispers with everyone's focus shifting to her, making her realise just how much things have changed in her life too. Naintara along with Geet ran to her side focusing their sights on her forehead which was marred with a man's love.
'Yeh kya hai, I thought aunty was ill but you' if she thought Naintara would be hurt then she was right, the next minute the woman eye's filled up showing how affected she was by Sasha's act
'Mummy was that's why I had to get married' she said awkwardly meeting Geet's eye knowing at least one person would understand her
'You're meant to my best friend and I wasn't even invited' she cried accusingly, if anything Naintara had planned Sasha's wedding right from the wedding gown to the shoes.
'It's not like that, mummy got really ill and she just wanted to see me married' cried Sasha while a hand rubbed her back trying to reduce her pain and that's when the girls realised the man beside her, her husband.
'erm I think we should go inside' Pinky suggested seeing the crowd gathering around them, with that the girls walked into Geet's cabin leaving behind Sasha's new husband who stood there looking rather lost. Naintara pulled Dadi along knowing that she was just too hurt to know between right and wrong.
'She asked for one last thing, she wanted to see me get married and I couldn't think of anyone else' Sasha recalled the past she lived over the last few days, after she left Shimla she was welcomed by relatives in her own home who told her tales of how irresponsible she's been, her frail mother lay in the bed looking rather weak so when her mother requested for the same thing one last time, Sasha had no other option other than to say yes.
'so I called Nikhil and asked him' Sasha wasn't old fashioned so when she needed to take action she decided to ask the very man she began trusting, even though their relationship wasn't as strong yet she decided to take the risk. The most he would say is no but for her mother, she was willing to do anything. Marriage wasn't exactly on Sasha's cards especially after being dumped at the alter but she had no other option.
'Did he say yes' came the question from Pinky who was wholly swallowed in the story, while Pari just rolled her eyes. Of course he said yes otherwise why would she be married and that too with him. This girl needs to eat more nuts for sure.
'Are you happy?' Geet asked in a low voice knowing the other women must have faced the same grief as her to overcome the last obstacles.
'Hmm' was Sasha's shy response while the other women gushed. Their fortune was now reaped, leaving a sweet future. Soon the girls filled each other in with their own stories, of how Yash proposed Pari or how Maan and Geet were a couple
'Did he propose?' Naintara asked out the blue stopping all side talk
'Yes he did' Sasha then told them how Nikhil went on knee in front of her family making memories even in the most rushed wedding. Leaving an unwanted feeling in Geet, everyone was proposed part from her. She also wanted to know the feeling, it doesn't need to be the best, just a simple 'Would you marry me' would suffice but with Maan being Maan, was it too much to ask.
'So how did veerji propose to you soon to be Geet bhabi' Naintara joked but stopped immediately seeing Geet's face fall
'He didn't propose yet, instead he asked dad and Muskaan instead' with that Geet thumped on the chair
'Then make him beta' Dadi raised her voice finally in a matter that affected her the most
'It's now or never, show him his position' Dadi forced knowing this was the best time to bend Maan to one's tune
'But what if'
'Geet stop being a softy' the women pushed pushing her angry button, it's the laws of life when a man wants to marry its natural to propose to the woman he loves rather than her loved ones. Yes it's a nice gestures, but it's she who's going to marry him and not her dad. After getting her worked up, the women joined the celebratory mood outside while Maan faced a stroppy Geet.
Note: Sasha deserves an happy ending too 😃
