"It's been a while," he said, brushing his hands onto his lap as he stood up. She intended to ignore his presence but his frame blocked the staircase, making it impossible for her to avoid him.

"Are you going to avoid me forever?"

She stepped back and turned her head to the side, looking past the building.

"Geet."

"Harassment is a punishable offence. I'll call the police if you don't move out of my way."

She didn't dare to look at him, to look into those eyes that had once promised her hopes and dreams. She knew the depth of his eyes too well, the unspoken emotions that lay behind them.

"Please move out of my way."

"So you can run away again?"

Her hands fisted at the sides of her dress, and he noticed behind the veil of her hair that her eyes were squeezed shut, her forehead wrinkled as if she was in pain. Taking a deep breath, he walked away and climbed the adjacent staircase to his apartment.

Maan paused before opening his door, glancing at her for a few seconds, silently willing for her to meet his gaze. When she silently refused by her unmoving posture, he stepped inside.

Locking the bolts shut, he closed his eyes and sunk to the ground in defeat, his head held in his hands.

She watched the sun rise from the comfort of her bed sheets, wrapped tightly around her torso. Her hands enclosed around her knees as her head fell lightly back against the mirrored feature display behind her.

She had avoided Pari's questions and locked herself into her room after her encounter with Maan. Geet knew Pari was worried and anxious, and reassured her that she was just tired.

When her sister revealed that she had been watching her interaction with Maan, with the added knowledge of his mysterious living arrangements, she found herself tongue tied and requested Pari to leave her alone.

Geet hadn't expected Maan to approach her.

He had promised her he never would.

Why was he breaking the boundaries now? Why was he relentless on bulldozing the walls that she had carefully built around herself, to protect her own sanity?

A lone tear streaked down her cheek.

She had to take control before the control was snatched away from her.
