Ms Roy led Maan into the police station. Before they entered, Ms Roy put her hand on Maan's arm. "Maan...I mean, Mr Khurana, please let me do the talking. I know you are upset and want answers, but getting angry at the police will not help. Let me do my job...I am here to look after you". Maan looked puzzled at the last bit of Ms Roy's speech, but decided not to say anything, and just nodded in acceptance. They were taken by one of the hawaldars to Inspector Pandey's office.

"Before I let you interview Mr Khurana, I would like to see the statements from Geet, Brij and his friends" Ms Roy told Pandey firmly.

"Hawaldar, please get the statements for Ms Roy", Pandey said.

Ms Roy sat down and read carefully through the documents. What she read made her temper flare. "What nonsense is this?" she shouted at Pandey shaking the statements in his face. "Maan... I mean Mr Khurana would never behave like this. Do you know how many women fall at his feet on a daily basis? Why would he resort to kidnapping and forcing himself on a girl? Especially an uneducated village girl?" she was ready to continue her tirade when Pandey stopped her. "Ms Roy, rather than trying to defame Geet, you need to prove Mr Khurana's innocence I think".

"Don't tell me how to do my job, Inspector. I have been handling cases like this for years. There are some inconsistencies in the statements and I have some questions that I hope you can answer."

Ms Roy looked carefully through the statements again. She started making lots of notes and lists of questions which would need clarification. She looked thoughtfully at Pandey and asked "Was Geet examined by a medical examiner?"

"No" Pandey replied

Ms Roy was shocked to hear this."Why not?"

"We did ask Brij, even though it had been more than 48 hours since the event, but he refused, saying that Geet had been traumatised enough by the ordeal. He couldn't put Geet through a physical examination." responded Pandey.

Thinking further, Ms Roy asked "What about her clothes, the ones she wore that day? Did you ask for them to be submitted as evidence?"

"As part of the normal investigation procedure, we requested the clothes, but Brij told me that Geet burnt them, since she felt sick looking at them."

"So did you or your officers interview Geet?" Ms Roy asked.

"No."

"What do you mean by No? Then how did you get these statements?"

"Well they were submitted by the Handa's lawyer, Mr Singh."

"So, nobody has seen or talked to or questioned Geet?" Ms Roy asked incredulously. "Then how do you know this statement is true? How do you know this signature is hers?"

"The Handas are well respected. Why would they make up a story like this? Especially one which involves a girl from their family?" Pandey replied.

"That is what I want to find out" Maan said. Even though he had been told by Ms Roy to keep quiet, he felt he could no longer do so. "Brij and Daarji welcomed me into their house yesterday and even invited me to Geet's wedding. We were about to sign a deal for some land. So why are they making such accusations now? I just don't understand. And Geet. What to she get to gain from accusing me?"

"Maan...I mean Mr Khurana. Please don't upset yourself. I am here to get to the root of this and clear your name. I'm sure this is a silly girl's prank gone wrong." Arching her left eyebrow and looking Pandey in the eyes, she said "There has obviously been some misunderstanding or someone is willfully misleading the law and I will make sure that this case is withdrawn and those making false accusations are punished! I will not rest until Maan's...I mean Mr Khurana's name has been cleared!".

"Mumma, Taiyji, no one is listening to me" Geet sobbed. "What Brij Veerji is doing to Maan is wrong. He didn't do anything. He didn't touch me. It is all lies. I don't know why they would have said such things."

"Geet, don't upset yourself. Your wounds will not heal, if you do not rest" Rano told Geet.

Taiyji spoke "Geet why are you worrying about him? Your current condition is his fault. We have heard about his reputation with women. If he hadn't been there with you, then your reputation would be intact. But he was with you and now fingers are being pointed at you and us."

"What can punishing Maan achieve?" Geet continued

"Don't worry about him" Brij said menacingly. He had overheard the conversation between Geet and the older ladies and felt compelled to come into Geet's room. "You should worry about yourself!" he spat out as he walked away.

Geet looked at Brij's back in horror. What more was left to hear or see? What was Brij's plan for her and Maan? Was this the end?

did Dev and Naintara forced Handas to file this case against Maan so that he will be in jail and they can easily get Geet marry Dev...

who is ms Roy...yah I know she is Maan's lawyer but what is her full name and does she loves Maan secretly...

whenever I read any FF or saw GHSP where Geet's parents let her daughter sacrificed because of family name...I really get surprised...if her parents gather guts to oppose all this ministrations then no body can touch Geet...but when parents become helpless and don't try to even save their children then who will protect them...
