Part 1

Today, was the day which Savitri Khurana had been waiting for since last 4 yrs, she had finally managed to get her eldest grandson agree to meet the girl she had chosen for him, she was just perfect '. belonging to an affluent yet traditional family, very beautiful, well educated, and talented(she was a trained kathak dancer)'.. just the right mix she wanted in the eldest Khurana bahu. The day she had seen her at a charity dance show she was so impressed at the poise and grace with which she had carried herself, that within a week she had all the details of the girl and her family. She was quite satisfied with what she found(Conveniently neglecting one or two pieces of information) so she set out for the biggest task 'to get her grandson to agree to the alliance. And after a month and a half of relentless coaxing, throwing tantrums, faking illness and a lot of emotional blackmail, she had persuaded Maan to not only meet Aditi, but also made him promise to not refuse the rishta if he as much as 1% liked her . So, here she was sitting in the car with her grandson (he refused to let any other family member join them) already planning about the lavish wedding that Delhi would ever witness.

Handa Residence, Delhi

The house was swarming with servants and helpers flitting across kitchen and drawing room, following the orders of Mrinalini Handa, she would leave no stone unturned, after all the visitors coming today were special , they were coming to 'see' her younger daughter, Aditi.

Everyone was home to welcome the guest, her husband Mohinder, eldest son Tej and his wife Pammi, her eldest daughter Nandini and her husband Daman except ' ' she sighed.

Everybody was ecstatic, as 'rishta was from the heir to one of the richest family in Delhi, who bhi saamne se' but that is not what a mother wants for her daughter, a mother wants a family where her daughter will be cherished and a husband who will '''''. she sighed and went to Aditi's room where Nandini was helping her get ready.

Nandini:"Tu, abhi bhi mobile pe lagi hain, Khuranas abhi ate hi honge." She started to take away her mobile.

Anjali:"Di, main bas abhi ready hoti hoon ," and she moved towards the washroom with her mobile.

She came out and was getting ready, glancing every minute at her mobile, when her mom came.

Mrinalini:"Arre badi pyari lag rahi hain meri bacchi,"

"Nandini, tum jake zarra table settings dekh lo main isse taiyar kar deti hoon"., and she started setting Aditi's hair.

After she was done, she turned her and asked " Darr, lag raha hain?"

Aditi :" Nahin 'bas woh '.aise achanak''..woh " she stuttered

Mrinalini:" Hota hain" and patted her cheeks, and turned to leave, just when she reached the door ,"Kya G ka phone aya tha?" she asked startling her mom.

"Nahin"

"Koi message"

She shook her head and left leaving her behind , to let her earnestly wait for a reply from the only one who had it in her to change her fate, which was already decided by her parents.

After 40 mins

Maan was marveling at the lady sitting next to him, she was truly charismatic, his Dadi, who was handling all the queries The Handas were throwing at her left right and centre ,from "Kaise ho?" "Ghar dhoondne mein paresaani nahin huyi " to "aur koi nahin aaya"

Just when they decided its time to bring the girl, the doorbell chimed and zoomed in the most weird thing he had ever seen.

And just like that Maan felt that the air had changed, he was amused seeing the varied expressions on the faces of everyone present, happy, relief, pained, contempt, admiration but what took the cake was his dadi's expression, she who never let anything show on her face was openly showing her disapproval towards the new entrant, which made him, look at her again, she was wearing boots and clothes more fit for the college going boys, her hair were cut very short , she was carrying a professional camera''''.

"Geet" he heard the girl's mother whisper, Mr. Handa reluctantly made the introductions, "She's Geet" ''''.."my daughter" his wife completed for him.

Mr. Handa : "Maan Khurana and his Dadi they are here for Aditi's rishta"

Maan was surprised when the girl mouthed a "hello" to his Dadi (and not a traditional namastey) and came forward to shake his hand, "G not Geet, " she said, "that's what everybody calls me, "

Just than Dadi reminded that they need to get Aditi, she must be tired waiting and Mohinder gestured Nandini to get her sister, but her mom stopped her .

Mrinalini:"Geet tum Aditi ko le aao." She said ignoring the glaring Tej who motioned Pammi to follow her.

Aditi's Room

G:"Aditi"

Aditi: "G, tum aagayi , kahaan thi tum main tumhe do din se contact karne ki koshish kar rahi hoon" she was almost in tears, and before G could reply , Pammi came there and hugged G and asked them to hurry up.

G told her to relax and started to lead her towards the drawing room.

"Mujhe tumse baat karni hain" she whispered.

"Hmm" G nodded.

"I don't want to marry"

"say no"

"can't"

"Run away"

"can't"

"than get married"

"can't" she pleaded

" "

"please"

"what can I do if u can't do anything"

"I'll kill myself if this marriage happens"

"what the f***?"

Mohinder "ye lijiye , Aditi aa gayi".

Dadi gestured her to sit near her "Aaiye hamare paas baithye"

Aditi came and sat down on the other side of Dadi.

Dadi: "Mrinalini, badi khoobsurat hain aapki beti, hume to dekhte hi pasand aagayi thi."

"She was umm '.good looking", maan could not deny that her Dadi has chosen a perfect bahu for herself which only means that'''''''''..

After the tea and coffee were served, Nandini suggested that they should let Maan and Aditi talk to one another alone. Everybody consented. Daman took Maan with him when G signaled him to take Tej with them and to keep him occupied.

After the trio left, G grabbed Aditi's hand and led her upstairs where Maan would be waiting for her, she slipped with her into a nearby room when out of everybody's sight.

"What the hell was that?" Geet demanded.

"Woh' i'."

"we don't have a whole day, so KISS"

"I love Aditya, he works with me and I can't refuse because khuranas are bigshots and '"

"Alright"

" " keeps looking at her expectantly.

"What?"

"What do I do now?"

"Go tell Mom", and realized her folly as soon as she uttered them. Aditi could never voice her feelings and demands , and somewhere she was responsible for it. She had been such a problem child that Aditi ,who was just a year older felt compelled to be all the more giving and accommodating.

"Alright , listen carefully you have to tell this guy that u r in luv with someone else and ask him to refuse the proposal. He will back out for sure provided he is not a secret admirer of yours. Now go before someone comes searching for you. "

"I am scared"

"I'll be waiting outside, hmm" saying so she pushed her inside the room where Maan was waiting.

After 20 min, Drawing Room

All the heads turned when Aditi and Geet entered followed by Maan.

Maan came and took his earlier place whereas Aditi went and sat beside her mom, with G standing behind them.

After everybody finished looking to and fro from Maan to Aditi , and still when no one said anything, Pammi heeding the non verbal suggestions of Dadima and her MIL asked Maan, "toh, Maanji kaisi lagi aapko hamari Aditi?"

Maan just smiled at her, so Dadima asked, "pasand kyun nahi aati, hamari taraf se to haan hain, kyun Maan?"

"Ji, Dadima" and looked at Geet ,who scowled at him, turning his attention to Mohinder he said ,"Mr. Handa mujhe aapki choti beti Geet pasand hain, main shadi Geet se karna chahta hoon."

Dadima was appalled. "Maan aap ye kya keh '''''."

Maan cut her and continued " Aap Geet ka opinion bhi jaan le , aur let us know ur decision in a day or two."

Turning to Dadi he offered her his hand and said "Challein Dadima."

Saying this he strode out with an utterly speechless(maybe for the fist time) Savitriji in tow.

Needless to say he had the entire Handa family standing with their jaws dropping to the floors with the exception of two, one who couldn't help smiling and the other who looked ready to KILL.
