It was night time.The pale moonlight trickled inside her room.Geet lay on her bed staring up at the ceiling.There was a cool breeze blowing outside.She decided to go up to the terrace.She looked up at the sky which was full of stars.She felt a little comfort in her.
"Babaji,You only tell me what to do.I am utterly confused.I neither can decline nor accept this marriage proposal.Actually i really admire businessman Maan Singh Khurana but i dislike the other side of him.But coming to think of it,he has not shown his casanova image from the past one month,kya kare poor soul has been utterly busy lately,after all it's not a child's play to run a World Enterprise.You toh know I had actually carried out another sting operation on his laptop.There were many messages from women but he had hardly replied to any.Thank You I was not caught this time" She giggled.
"Babaji,sometimes I really suspect that there is something fishy about him but then if you are there with me,then nothing can go wrong.So what to do now,tell me na!I am always depended on you for my decisions & they always turn to be right.So help me please God!"Geet closed her eyes
Suddenly an idea flashed in her mind.She got two chits of paper.In one she wrote 'Accept Maan' & in other she wrote 'Decline Maan'.She would close her eyes & then select a random chit.Just then she saw Maan coming in there.(Their terraces were connected).She panicked.
"Maan? & that to so late at night" she thought but then Maan had already walked upto her.He was looking tired.
"Geet you are still up?What's the reason behind your insomnia?" he laughed
"You have also not slept yet"
"Me?I have just returned from office.And i come here every night.The cool breeze just freshes me up."
His eyes fell on the chits which Geet was trying to hide from him.He brought her hands closer to him and asked,"What are you upto?"
"A-Actually I-I wanted to decide s-something.." she stammered
"What?"he asked suspiciously.
"Ah...there is something very important to chose for college so..."
Luckily he did not ask anything further,he was satisfied.Geet heaved a relief.
"O...kay,so let me chose for you"said Maan.
"You will select?" Geet was surprised
"Why not?come on hold the chits"
Geet held the chits.She was very nervous but she couldn't help it.Her hand were almost shaking
"Geet hold it rigidly...Umm...okay i select this one"saying this Maan was about to open the paper.
"Nooo...wait,i will open!!"she was quick to snatch away the paper from him.Maan was taken by surprise
"Oh God!This girl!"he thought
Geet was in a tight situation.Here was the chit in her hand that would be her decision & Maan was standing right in front of him. "Babaji,ye kaise musibat mein daal diya aapne"she thought & looked up.
"Geet,abhi upar kya dekh rahi ho?You are acting as if your life depends on it!"he laughed.
Geet closed her eyes and was about to open the chit.
"Ab yeh lo!Aur natak dekho!"thought Maan
Geet opened the chit & looked into it.She stared at it with her eyes wide open.Her facial expression changed.The chit read 'Accept Maan'.At first glance she was shocked but the next moment she felt that happiness was building in her.She felt that she always knew from the start what she had wanted.She did not know what was happening to her.Her eyes were twinkling.She looked at Maan who was standing with a questioning look on his face.He noticed that there was a sudden change in her.
"What happened?koi khazana dekh liya kya?"
Geet was slow to answer that.She had mixed feelings but she some how controlled it. She folded the chits & said,"No nothing,leave it!"
"Achcha?let me see kya hai woh chits mein."
Geet panicked once again but luckily for her the wind carried the two chits away.
"Kya yaar!Now you only tell me what you had written in them" he asked her
"N-Nothing much.We are having some outdoor activities,i needed to choose between two,the chit read batminton so..."She pretended to laugh.
"Really?I don't believe you.For batminton you did this drama?"
"Toh usme kya hai?"Geet tried to remain calm but she felt there were loads of emotion which would burst out anytime.
"Don't you think you are peculiar?"
"Maan please,i am not interested in some personality test now.Feeling very sleepy."
"You don't seem so.Infact you display a good lot amount of energy which would keep you away for four nights!" he paused and then asked,"Kuch hua hai kya?"
"Buhot kuch ho raha hai jo nahi hona chahiye tha"she thought but she found it wiser to wish him good night
"Good night Geet.Sweet dreams"
The last two words pricked her ears 'Sweet dreams??...of whom?'she mumbled under her breath.
She prepared to go.What was happening to her?She should have torn the chit,stamped her foot & retreat to her room but no!she had taken the trouble to fold the chit!The wind was the saving grace today.She felt queer & coming to think of it,she was joyful.She didn't know whether it was the right or worng decision but it pleased her.She was smiling to herself,but why?.Was there something in the air which made her feel in this manner?.For once,she felt that she didn't care about anything.For the time being,she would enjoy her new found feeling which was unexpectedly for the man who was watching her decending downstairs.She wanted to turn back & look at him once,but no!that would be two much for her.He is the same man,he won't change his appearance if you don't look at him,she told herself.Instead she quickened her pace,reached her room,threw herself on the bed & dugged her head into the pillow,hoping that sleep invades her.
Maan,on the other hand,was still standing on the terrace.She looked odd suddenly.He still couldn't believe whatever Geet had said about the chits.But it was of no use now,she wouldn't tell him anyways.Geet,your such an interesting persona,you never fail to surprise me.Let's see what would be tommorrow's statistics!,he smiled
