Here whole day geet is waiting for maan to come there , she is worried now for maan, , one side her own insecurity another side her tension for maan.

Part 55

It was evening now, Geet waited for Maan to come. She was worried and scared, the same feared gripped her when she was at the airport after their first night. She can't loose Maan again...she doesn't have the strength to fight again...he is part of her...and she needs him...She sat on the bed hugging her knees...what if Dadima don't accept me? Will she see the love I have for him? He has for me?

Geet looked at the door and saw Dadima standing there. She immediately gets up and looks down knotting her dupatta. Dadima comes and stands in front of her looking at her from top to bottom. Geet bends down to touch her feet but she moves back.

Dadima: Look, I don't know your name nor want to. I don't know what intention you have come here with but let me make it clear it won't work over here. Maan is naive...he can't see the true colors behind some people like I can. (Geet looks at her with tears)

Geet: Dadima I have no intention..I love Maan...we..both...

Dadima: ENOUGH! (Geet looks down) you can stop this acting of showing this "love". You love his money..you saw him weak..so you decided to trap him...

Geet (shakes her head no) No Dadima..its not like that..I fell in love with Maan not his money. I fell in love with his care, his concern, his love that I see in his eyes for me and our baby. (She touches her stomach..Dadima looks at it)

Dadima: ohh I see...(she takes out a check book) here is a blank check..fill out the amount you want that you think will be sufficient enough for you and your baby. This marriage news has already brought Khruana name down the drain. I want to save whatever we have left.

Geet (takes the check and rips it in front of her leaving her shocked) if I wanted money...I would've demanded that long time back when I found out I was pregnant with Maan's child. I was ready to leave this town without him ever knowing about the kid but fate had other plans. (She holds Dadima's hands) Please, trust me..I don't want money, property or anything from Maan...only his love and your love. If you want me to leave..I will BUT only if Maan tells me to.

Dadima (lets go of her hands and begins to leave) I will see how Maan lets you stay here...

Geet drops on the floor crying...why does she have to prove her love all the time? why can't she get the happiness that she deserves? That her baby deserves? How many more tests will she go through? She looks at Maan's photo with a smile and hugs the picture...

Maan closes his eyes blocking out the past memories...he could still hear his father yelling at him to me more responsible...he was just a kid...his childhood had spent in being locked up and when he was ready to explore spread his wings to see the world that he so wished he had from the beginning..the burden of growing up was laid on him. Even though the world fears him as Maan Singh Khruana...there is still a little kid hidden inside his heart too afraid to come out...

Dadima opened the door and saw him on the floor spaced out. She sits next to him and touches his shoulder..Maan looks at her...hoping that she changed her mind.

Dadima; I want you to tell that girl to leave by tomorrow morning. (She gets up to leave..but Maan stops her)

"Dadi, I can't--please!", Maan pleaded, "Geet has given me my life, she has given me everything." He tried desperately to swallow the lump that was building in his throat. He didn't want to prove Dadima right when she said he was weak and immature. He would stand strong. He lifted his eyes, unflinchingly to meet her cold, unfeeling glare.

"I don't know what that girl has done to make you think you need her but I assure you it's a trap. She took advantage of your naivety and your lack of worldly experience to trick you into marrying her. Frankly, I don't know what makes you so sure the child she is carrying is even you---"

"ENOUGH", Maan roared. He had never used such a tone on his Dadi before. He had always been meek, afraid and cowed down by her caustic remarks and her manipulation but when she insulted Geet he felt a new strength course through him. "Enough Dadi" he repeated, the fire blazing in his eyes, causing a very shocked Savitri Devi to move a few steps back. Maan bowed his head and said with loathing and disappointment in his voice, "I will tell Geet to leave, but not because I don't love her and not because I believe your foul words, but because I can't stand to think of her living under the same roof and having to interact with the likes of you!" and he stormed out of the room.

It took a few moments for Savitri Devi to compose herself. True, the confrontation hadn't gone the way she had planned, and she had never seen such a reaction from her sensitive and meek grandson before, but in the end she had gotten what she wanted. The girl was leaving. That was all that mattered. She smiled to herself, picked up her phone and dialed...

Meanwhile Geet sprang up as she heard Maan bang open the doors and storm into the guesthouse where she was sitting, still reeling from her encounter with his Dadi. Maan took one look at her tear stained face and the pieces of the torn cheque on the ground, drew in a long breath and said, "Geet, you have to leave".

Geet was shell shocked. She had not seen this coming. Nowhere in her mind had she for a second doubted that Maan would come to her, tell her they had to go somewhere else, tell her that he was not going to pay heed to his grandmother, tell he they would do anything but would never be separated. Continuing to stare at him blankly she began to see his face blur; at first she thought it was from the tears that were filling her eyes but soon a feeling of dizziness accompanied her blurred vision and she felt her knees buckling under her...

"GEET" Maan shouted as he saw her falling to the ground. He caught her waist in one fluid movement and carried her to the sofa. He laid her down gently, intending to get some water to revive her when he felt a vice like grip on his wrist. He looked back to see Geet fully conscious, her eyes glazed with unshed tears. "Why?", she whispered weakly, "Why do you want me to leave?".

Maan couldn't take it any longer, he slipped onto the sofa beside her and put his arms around her, inhaling the scent of her shampoo, the shampoo she had used just this morning at the resort. How happy he had been there, just hours ago, and how foolish to allow himself to believe he could keep her with him always. "Geet, I am sorry. I love you more than I can say. You have shown me life and love when I was never meant to have them. These few precious moments spent with you and our baby will last me a lifetime but I cannot ask you to share my fate. I was destined for a life of misery. You have seen today the world I come from, the people I come from. How can I associate you, something so pure and good with the likes of my hellish life?"

Maan was startled when he heard Geet breathe a sigh of relief and when he looked down at her she was smiling happily into his chest. "Geet---?"

Geet looked up at him as she gave his waist a strong squeeze. "Maan I am not going anywhere no matter how miserable you think you will make me. If I have to choose I would rather be miserable with you than happy without you because you are the other half of my soul and together we made this perfect little creature," she said as she laid his hand on her stomach. "So your awful grandmother thinks I am a gold-digging harlot." she said with a roll of her eyes. That I can deal with. But I was so afraid that you thought the same thi---"

"Geet! How could you even imagine that I would doubt you?"

"Well what did you expect me to think after you stormed in like that and told me to pack my bags?"

"I'm sorry" he said, closing his eyes, "I only did it because I can't bear to watch these people suck the life, the fight and the laughter out of you as I know they will! I need you to be happy, even if it's not with me"

Geet snuggled close to Maan, feeling safe and warm once again, and replied contentedly, "Well I have news for you Mr. Khurana. You are going to have your cake and eat it too because I have a plan."
