I really loved your post and the way you have put the whole thing across. So I am ready to go the forgiveness but not forgetting route just so Geet heals herself and only for her own sake.

And i love this

"The stupid neither forgive nor forget; the naive forive and forget; the wise forgive but do not forget." - Thomas S. Szasz, a Hungarian psychiatrist.

It is excellent. 👏

Thanks Usha. It is flattering to know that I got you think and understand my arguement. I loved the quote you mentioned too. It is not for nothing the guy who gave it is a psychiatrist. He does seem to understand the human psyche quite well.

whether geet will forgive or not remains to be seen as most of the articles don't turn out to be true....
forgiveness does not mean she will forget or accept him...
thanks dear for showing us the other side of the coin...

Yes, she is indifferent as of now. I dont trust the article too but I was merely reacting to the animosity towards Geet because of the so called 'forgiveness' track. Acceptance is just out of the question. If they show anything like that I personally will tear the CVs apart ( at least verbally).

I must admit I want to see Dev being punished & Geet never forgiving him BUT after reading your post i can see the other side too. Yes Geet forgiving Dev does not equal to she forgetting all his crimes. It takes immense strength & courage to forgive someone who has wronged you. If Geet does forgive Dev then it will only reflect how strong she is....👍🏼

Yes, if she does forgive him it shows her strength of character.

Forgiving doesn't mean forgetting nor does it mean condoning what your abuser did. Forgiving sets you free.

It's not about the other person, it is about your health and your healing. Carrying around the immense burden of hatred will only wear on you. In fact, not forgiving actually allows the rapist to continue his control over you.

Forgiving is not an easy thing to do.It takes a person of a very high will power and a big heart to do it....

Deeps, well said. Agree with you fully. Forgiveness does not equate to condoning that person's act or forgetting it. If she does forgive it is for her own peace of mind and not for Dev. Dev loses his hold once Geet's let go of every feeling associated with him. We know Geet does have a strong will power and it will be in tune with her character.

stupendous.... marvelous and what not...

what a brilliant write up....cannot agree with you more
the quotes u have used so relevent...
I would say forgive, when the time is appropriate but don't forget. what dev has done to geet is unforgetable for her......he has to got through the punishment...he needs to serve the jail term with NT....
Here dev don't mean anything to geet...he does not exist for her...so if she forgives him here
means she is letting go of that little they had which bind them together....is not there anymore...

I agree with you..and i also like you maintain, that being indifferent to dev will be the hugest punishment for him

And yes it will be interesting to see how he will act after the guiding guilt withdraws- resulting from geet's forgiveness..

then he will really make a choice between harming maneet or wanting their happiness..

of course, legal punishment is imp..but this will also be awesome

NT got it too- she's alone and a vegetable..

and dev is being a cry baby..haha

Thanks Geeta. Dev is going through one of the toughest punishment through Geet's indifference. Like you I too wonder which way he will go when he loses the rudder of guilt. He cannot sit on the fence. He will have to turn white or black. That would make it interesting viewing. He is a cry baby, isn't he? Always trying to find shelter in Dadi's pallu.

Thanks ansah. Yes, Dev does not mean anything to her but there still could be latent bitterness which may be buried in her subconsciense. Forgiveness only makes a clean break with her past. It will be therapeutic for her, not Dev.
