Her heart silently cried out, 'Ma, you know how much I love him but I cannot admit it to anyone, not even to myself, because I have lost the right to love a man. Yet, I feel pain when I see him with another woman. Give me the strength to let go of this intense feeling of love and possessiveness I feel for him and redirect all my energy to bringing my baby into this world and giving it all the attention and love it deserves.'
She was so absorbed in her own turmoil that she did not see the man she loved walk up behind her and tentatively put out his hand to touch her shoulder. He withdrew his hand in the last minute and looked at her first in confusion which soon turned into compassion and love.
When Maan saw Geet rush out of the hotel he ran behind her. Before he could reach her, though, she had vanished from his sight. He looked up and down the road outside the hotel, wondering which direction she would have taken. His eye then caught sight of the large church across the road and on an intuition he crossed over and entered the church. He heaved a sigh of relief when he finally located her as she knelt near the altar, clinging to the feet of the statue of Mother Mary. Approaching her closer, he saw that her cheeks were stained with long streaks of tears. He was alarmed to see her in so much of pain. Something was apparently troubling her and it appeared to be much more than her envy of seeing Parineeta in his arms. He couldn't put his finger to it but he felt it had to do with her painful past in Hoshiarpur. He decided to let her release all her pain. Maybe this could give her some relief, he thought. He walked up to the pew and kneeling down, closed his eyes and fervently prayed that all her pain and sorrow be washed and she gets all the happiness in the world.
She did not know how long she knelt crying in front of the statue. When she finally opened her eyes and turned around to leave, she froze in shock seeing the man she loved stare at her unwaveringly, with an unreadable expression in his eyes.
