Part 13: geet slowly moving on????

Maan makes sure geet is comfortable and asks the driver to switch off the AC in the car. He's had a long day too and had not slept for last few days. But he did not regret it, atleast not at that moment when his lady love was so close to him. The car stopped in front of geet's house and maan slowly wakes her up. Geet moves away from maan but realizes her hand is still in maan's hand. She smiles faintly and looks at him. He lets go her hand very slowly and reluctantly.

She gets out of the car and turns back to tell him, "maan aap mujhe pressurize kabhi nahi kiya. Aur aaj sab kuch theek hogaya, usme aapka sabse bada haath hai. Main jo bhi karti hoon aapke liye karti hoon."

"accha" he asked in a very squashy voice. He got out of the car and asked the driver to wait for him at the end of the road. The driver drove away. Maan moved to geet and asked her,"tum job hi karte ho, mere liye karte ho? Tuo ab ek kaam karo. Thoda smile karo. Tum aise chup chup aur sad sad rahoge tuo tumhein suit nahi karega."

Geet was touched by his words. "maan main thag gayi thi tuo".

"sshhhh' geet main jaanta hoon ki tumne mujhse jhoot bola. Tum kaam ki wajah se ya thakaan ki wajah se nahi ro rahi thi.koi aur wajah hai.lekin mujhe yakeen hai ki waqt aane par tum mujhe zaroor bataoge. Geet main tumhe kabhi force nahi karunga, sirf office mein thoda torture karunga"

Geet starts laughing at this. He continues, "you can take your time to tell me why you cried. Until then main tumse koi sawal nahi karunga."

"maan aap itne acche kaise ho sakte hai?"

"geet tum theek tuo ho na? main wahin maan khurana hoon jisse tum pyaar se Dusht Danav bulate ho, main wahi maan khurana hoon jo white roses se haar banwaake tumhare photo par thang sakta hoon aur main wahi maan khurana hoon jisse tum bahut acche lagne lage ho."

Geet looked up in disbelief at his last words. He did not make any effort to correct what he said or cover up what he said. He waited for her to react. She said, "maan, aap theek kehte hai, aap wahi maan khurana hai, jo tere thaang kiche bina nahi reh sakte hai."

"So, she thinks I was pulling her leg? Okay, atleast she smiled for the time being and forgot that she was crying. But, geet you'll pay big for ignoring maan khurana's straight appreciation and liking for you."

"aapse ek baat poochu" asks geet.

"geet, tum har sawal se pehle, yeh sawal mat karo. Tumhein jo poochna hai poocho."

She fumbled and in a very low tone asked him,"aap kisi se pyar karte hai?"

"haan" he says confidently. Geet had not expected that. "kya'kisse"

"daadima se" and he starts laughing. "sir aap bhi na. main jaanti hoon aap "maa" se bahut pyaar karte hai."

Maan notices the "maa" in her answer but does not feel like asking her why she called his daadima that way. She probably did not realize it still he thought.

"geet, mujhe lagta hai, tumhein ab ghar jaana chahiye aur aaram karna chahiye."

"par mujhe nahi jaana, mujhe aapke saath rehna hai" and bit her lips at what she just said. She could not believe she would say something like that to maan. Maan was also taken aback but decides to make the moment a little light and says, "theek hai, chalo phir mere ghar chalte hai" and winks at her.

"maan'.." geet raises her voice a little and was about to hit him on his hand when he catches her hand.

"geet, tumhari itni himmat?tum maan khurana pe haath uthaoge?" he asked her pretending to be angry.

Geet laughs back and says, "maan, thanks. Aap hamesha mere saath dete hai. Sach batao tuo main aapko kabhi samajh nahi paati hoon. Kabhi kabhi aap mujhe hasaate hai, office mein rulaate hai, daante hai."

Maan was tempted to complete the sentence, "lekin pyaar bhi karta hoon." But he did not want to take it that far so soon. He tells her, "geet, ab main ghar jao?"

She cunningly says, "nahi" and then winks backs and says "haan".

"kal office aane ka irada hai ya ghar betna chahte ho?"

"aapne mana kiya tha na. main nahi aungi." And she starts to run away but maan does not move an inch. Something told him that she would come back then and there to him and he was not wrong. Geet runs a little distance and stops to see that maan was unmoved by what she said. She walks back to him and says, "aapko itnaa confidence hai ki main office aungi? Nahi..mr khurana main ghar pe aaram se betungi."

Maan signals his driver to come and pulls geet closer like always. He pushes her hair away a little from her back and ties the strings of her salwar without taking his eyes off her and whispers, "tum zaroor aaoge. Tum mujhe miss karoge geet. Mere gussa, mere dhaant ke bina tum bore ho jaoge" and pulls the strings tightly together. Geet shudders and looks down slightly blushing.

"See you tomorrow in the office, Miss geet handa." He said getting into the car and leaves.

Geet is left stunned. She walks into the house very slowly. She was amazed that she had completely forgotten about seeing dev a few minutes back. What has maan done to her? He changed her completely from being a weak and a timid girl to being a strong and an independent girl. And what baffled her more was that dev's entry into her life did not seem to disturb her that much. Yes, momentarily she was shocked to see him there but maan khurana stood by her yet again, this time unknowingly.

She enters the house and hears the phone ring. She takes the call and immediately says "maan".

The person on the other side does not say anything for sometime. Geet speaks up again, "maan, main office aungi."

"geet, tumhein kaise pata tha ki maine hi phone kiya?"

"pata nahi, lekin main sahi thi na bas."

"accha suno, tumne mujhe nahi bataya kit um kyon ro rahi thi. Koi baat nai. Lekin maine suna hai ki pinky tumhari acchi dost hai. Agar tum chaho tuo use apni dil ki baath batao. Dard kabhi kabhi baatne se kam hota hai."

"mr. maan khurana aap badal rahe hai."

"geet Good night!"

Maan had a point geet thought. He was right. She has been staying with pinky and her dad ever since she came to delhi. She cannot keep them under the covers for a long time. They are certainly her well-wishers and like maan always tells her since she is not wrong she need not fear the world.

yes, she was going to confess her past to them tonight. . come what may, later, consequences can be dealt with later.
