Hello guys! Thank you for all the support, I am really glad you guys liked the plot. The story is going to be really different from the one in the show, so all your suggestions are most welcome. so here is the first chapter of the ff- my best friend. I really hope you guys like it. Enjoy reading!

Chapter 1

"Mumbai ", the city of dreams is a paradise - the beaches, the Gate way of India and the teenage hotspots keep the city lightened up all day and all night. And not to miss the speed of Mumbai is also one of its kind. To survive in the busy life of Mumbai apart from the Friday nights one also needs their support system.
Family and friends, they might not be there with us all along but their presence in life is must for survival. Separated from his family on grounds of studies sagar was experiencing something very similar for the past 10 years.
With a smile he went through those gifts of last so many years. He was 11 when his family decided to send him to a hostel in Mumbai. He protested, cried and apologized if he had done some wrong for which he was being punished but, his fate was already decided.
Growing is tough especially when your family is not around you. Sagar missed his family very much- the peace on sleeping on his mother's lap, his dad's pat on his back for appreciation, fight and fun with his brother, all advices and those late night mythological tales from his dadi and of course his best friend.
Sagar awaited for his birthday every year with great enthusiasm not because he was going to be a year older but because it was only on that day that his father came to visit him with lots of gifts from his family. Sagar used to cry and plead to take him home but it never worked. His dad wanted him to grow strong and every time he came he brought to him his home in the form of delicacies cooked by his mother, story books suggested by his dadi and a birthday greeting made by his best friend. These weren't big but they were special, and invaluable as they helped him keep going.

A wide range of cards were spread on the table, each in different color they were being looked at by a pair of eyes with a strange twinkle and a smile. He ran his hands through them and looked the one that was received just months ago on his birthday. The card was in blue with a message on the front that read- "all I can wish for you is happiness, happiness in all colors so that your life is nothing less than a rainbow. " He opened the card and read-
Dear Sagar,
A very happy birthday. It's been 10 years... Time has passed so quick but there hasn't been a single day when I haven't missed you. Everyone misses you a lot here. And I know you miss us as well. I wish...I wish for you that the next birthday you celebrate with us...and I give the next card by myself and not through bapu... Take care and all the best for your final exams.
Yours always,
Gangaa...
Sagar held the card close to his heart and a lone drop of tear escaped his eyes.
Just then Came in nikhil.
Nikhil singhania, sagar's room mate and friend. Sagar looked at nikhil who had just come after a date with his girlfriend. He had asked sagar to cover up for him when the warden asks. However sagar was so occupied in his memory lane that he even missed the dinner. Placing the cards back on his drawer safely, sagar looked at nikhil who just shrugged his shoulders in reply.
So, did you have dinner? Asked nikhil removing his shoes.
Laying back on his bed sagar turned on the side to face nikhil and moved his head sideways indicating a no.
Nikhil got up and went up to his cupboard to get his night dress out and before getting in to the washroom he spoke-
You know sagar, you are really lucky... I mean... You just read those cards and then I see that twinkle and happiness on your face. I don't know what's in there but I know one thing that person is really special to you...because that person fills your heart and your eyes..
Saying thus nikhil went on to change while sagar laid back on his bed and kept staring on the plain celeing.
Sagar's POV -
True...every time when I want to feel at home, it's your card...your words and your memories that tell me...that you are here( he placed his right hand on his heart...). If it weren't for your cards I don't know what I would have done gangaa...my best friend...I miss you a lot...its been almost a decade and I wonder you must be all grown up...God!!!!! I can't wait to come home...to my family and you...
With that smile and happiness, he dozed off to a peaceful sleep.
