adjusting his cap one last time...
& taking a look in the mirror...
he replied...

"agar yeh kaam nahi kara..
to koi aur plan ban jaayega nia..
but i have to start somewhere...."

she nodded...
"tumne uniform kyon pehni hai?"

"magistrate se permission chaahiye hogi..
i can't just go meet a terrorist easily...
u ready na?"

"tayaar to ho gayi hoon...
but i'll never be prepared to meet kabir
again...."

even his name angered her....
"mujhe ..abhi bhi lagta hai..
ki ..i'll lose my cool...
kahin plan uski wajaah se..."

"don't worry...bas tum cell enter mat karna..."

"theek hai...
& you try finishin ur work quickly...
raj..don't u think...hum yeh kaam..
kisi ko paise khila kar..."

"no way!..choti-se choti cheez main khud
karoonga...maybe..as a tribute to my friends.."

naina closed her eyes.....

raj realised that she still couldn't bare
the thought ...&
he had unnecessarily hurt her...

he stepped closer to her...
& took her hand in his...
"sorry...zakhm taaza karne
ka koi iraada nahi tha mera..."

she smiled slightly....
"jaanti hoon..."

they hugged each other briefly..
before departing on a journey of revenge...

"yeh raha permission letter..."
raj handed it over to the
commissioner there....

he looked at them curiously....

"tum..wahi ho na..
jo kuch din pehle arrest hui thi...
aur aap hi aaye the na captain
inhe bachaane ke liye.."

"jee...koi problem hai??!"
naina's anger flared up...

"kyon milna hai aapko kabir se?"
the commisioner looked at them...
in an accusatory way....

"that's ..none..of..your..
business..sir..!!
may we?"

raj replied curtly...

he nodded..
"constable??...inhe kabir se milwaao..."

they were led thru a dark alley...
& naina remained close to raj...

she hated the way the criminals glared at her...

his was the only cell in that region...
a fact that raj was well aware of..
& kabir was currently pacing around...
real fast...

the constable began opening the lock..

kabir instantly turned....
"kya hai?"

"tumse koi milne aaya hai..."
he left them alone..

raj..naina stepped up..
out of the darkness....

"hi kabir.."
naina felt her hands itching...
she wondered how she'd manage
not murdering him right there!

"tum!...you bitch!"
in his maddened rage..
he rushed towards her....

and grabbed hold of her neck....
pressing it with all his might...

she kicked him real hard..
at the place where it hurt him the most....
& he screamed.....

she then rushed forth to kick him hard..
and after having done that..
began slapping him....

"maar doongi main tujhe kabir...
tujhe..aur tere baap ko..."

"naina!..naina!...chodo usse....
leave him..."

raj grasped hold of her...
glaring angrily at her...
"main yaahan is se baat karne aaya tha..
tum apni bhadaas nikaalna band karogi!"

she gave raj a
i-told-you-i'll-kill-him look...
and he briefly smiled at her....
behind kabir's back...

winking he pushed her out....
& warned her to stay outside....

"dekho kabir...
bahut ho chuka hai...
is dushmani ka koi faayda nahi hai..
main yahaan sula..
tum dono ke beech jo kuch hua..
bhool jaao usse....

tumne navin ko marwaaya...
tehzeeb ko..aalekh ko fasaaya..
ab aur kitna badla loge....??"

"raj!..stop it!..
nahin darti main is se...
i'll..."

"shut-up!!...
naina ko main samjha doonga...
promise...par uske badle..
tum humaari zindagi se...."

"aye hero...bakwaas band kar!.."
he looked at naina...

"tune is darpok ke liye mujhe
dhoka diya...akal ghaas char rahi thi kya?"

"kabir!..he's my husband!..
aur phir unke baare mein kuch kaha na..."

"naina!..chup ho jaao!...
look kabir..."

"no ...
you look what i'll do to you
once i get out of here!....

aur haan...yeh jo teri biwi hai na...
isse to tu mujse door hi rakhna...
agar galti se yeh mere haat lag gayi..
to iska woh hashar karoonga..
ki tu agle saath janam tak isse pehchaan nahi paayega..."
he snickered...
"waise ...raat ko yeh bistar mein.."

SLAP!!!..
kabir's face held the impression of raj's fingers...

this was the limit!...

raj held his shirt &
pulled him...

throwing him towards the bars...
he banged kabir's head..again & again..
until it bled....

"you talk like dat once more about her...
and i swear....
main tera aisa hashar karoonga.
ki bhagwaan ko bhi tujhe upar bulaate hue
dus baar sochna padega!!..."

"saale..teri yeh himmat ki tu mujhe.."
kabir pushem him hard
across the wall...

he was a solidly-built man..
but lacked all the tricks of
hand-to-hand combat that was inherent
in a soldier...

kabir slapped raj hard..
before he began beating the hell out of him...

this was the worst part..
naina shut her eyes tight..
wen she saw blood oozing out from
her hubby's nose...

jaldi raj...jaldi...

he allowed himself to be beaten..

but wen he looked at naina..
he realised that although
he wasn't even feeling the pain..

his getting hurt was torturous for her...

so he decided..it was time....

"bas!..mat maaro aur.."
he dropped himself to kabir's feet..
holding them tightly
& naina winced...

raj khud apni self-esteem ki dhajiya udaa raha
tha...shit!..how i wish we had another plan..!

"uth..chod mujhe..
you call yourself a soldier...
u dirt!....
tu to ek second mein
flat ho gaya...tujhe se accha to teri biwi
lad le...."

"chod do humme kabir...please..
main..kuch bhi karne...
ke liye tayaar hoon..."
he acted....

"kuch bhi?? hmmmm....
nikalwa sakta hai mujhe yahaan se?"
kabir eyed him curiously....

"kya?...par..."

"nahi!.raj..
tum apna career iske liye khatre mein.."
naina interrupted...

"theek hai kabir...
legally to nahi nikalwa sakta...
par haan...i can help you run away..."

kabir's eyes lightened up...
"kab?"

"kal...subaah hote hi...
tumhe shaayad pata nahi hoga...
your dad's been arrested...
aur unhe..delhi deport kiya jaa raha hai...
kal...
main na hi tumhe..balki unhe bhi bacha
sakta hoon..you can meet him here..."

hang on!..this was never in the plan....
yeh raj kya kar raha hai?...

mujhe to isne kaha tha ki yeh..
salim malik ko central jail nahi pahunchne dega...
phir ab??....

naina stepped back...
weird thoughts entering her mind.....

"kaise?...kaise karoge?"

"kal tum bhi delhi shift hone waale ho...
jis van mein tumhe airport le jaayenge..
uska incharge main hoon....
jahaan bologe...wahaan chod doonga..
& my friends shall get your dad here...
bolo?..."

kabir thought for 5 minutes....

wat possibly could be wrong???
koi gadbad nazar nahi aa rahi...

aur jail mein to main pehle hi hoon..
aur kya chaahiye ho sakta hai inhe....?

"theek hai....
agar tum yeh karwa doge...
to main tum dono ko chod doonga...."

aisa tum apne khayaalon mein bhi mat sochna!
kabir was smiling inside.....fools!

"great...aazaadi mubaarak ho...."

"aap ka milne ka time khatam...
chaliye.."
the constable had returned....

raj stepped out...
the constable locked the cell again..
& asked them to follow him...

"yeh tumne theek nahi kiya raj!"
naina said aloud...
loud enough for kabir to hear...

"samajhdaar hai...
usne abhi-abhi teri jaan bachaa li...."
kabir replied.........sarcastically...

As they stepped out in the open air...
raj turned around happily...

"MISSION ACCOMPLISHED JAAN!"

but she didn't smile...
"raj...woh salim waali baat..
you'll bring him to kashmir...
main kuch samajhi nahi?"

"just trust me...
mujhe pata hai main kya kar raha hoon...

hang on!..naina...you trust me don't you?"
he looked bewildered....

she remained silent...

he held her shoulders..
"tumhe pata hai..
although everything that
happened was planned...
jab usne tumhaare baare mein woh bakwaas kari..
i lost all control..

abhi tak mujhe lag raha tha..
ki maine usse aur kyon nahi maara?
and here...tum..meri wife...my love...my life..
is doubting my character!"
he was genuinely hurt...

she winced at the choice of his words...
"baat..woh nahi hai raj...
galat mat samjho....i trust you
more dan i trust myself!!

i've lost all my senses....
aisa lagta hai..jaise sahi-galat ki
samajh kho chuki hoon...
i don't know whom to trust & who to...."

"nia!...thanks a ton!"
he glared at her...
& climbed in his jeep...

hadh ho gayi...
out of all the people in the world...
its me that she....hell!

"raj..raj..."
she held his face in her hands....
"i'm sorry...
i trust you completely...
yakin karo mera...please....."

"ek second ke liye bhi yeh khayaal kyo aaya
tumhaare dimaag mein naina???..
i'm your husband!...ours was a love marriage...
agar tum mujh par vishwaas..."

"lost my mind...dat's it...!!
i swear..

har baar tum mujhe manaate ho..
aaj..please ...maaf kar do.."
she held her ears...tears in her eyes

& he smiled...

mujhe jaldi khatam karna hoga sab!!
i don't have much time....!

if i lose her trust...i'll lose her love.
and her love...is my life!!!

aur main..itni jaldi marna nahi chaahta!!

please tell deepika not to let naina loose her trust...I don't think she will, but with the trauma she's gone through I don't know how she'll react and I don't want any problems to crop up b/w them
