Part 9
"Anupam mujhay nahi maloom where we are? It seems like a jungle. I cannot find my way around. Is waqt na tumhara aana safe hai na hi hamara bahar nikalna. Its really dark outside. Looks like we have to wait till morning before we can move around or you can come." Dev explains the whole situation to Anupam and tells him the right location from where his car got off the road. Kaajjal is looking at him with a deep passion flaring in her eyes and a bundle of questions rising in her heart. She could still feel a part of her lost in his embrace. Although his arms were not around her anymore, but she could smell his beautiful aroma on her skin, feel his warmth on her body, and feel the softness of his shirt against her lips, where she had rested her head a few moments ago.
"theek hai Dev, I'll arrange everything early morning and locate you and the car. But just listen" Anupam emphasizes, "do not go anywhere. I think I understand the site, the shed you are in now and the river along side. We will find you, but you don't go anywhere, else we will keep chasing each other."
"I understand, we will wait for you here." Dev is convinced,
"Aur sun," Anupam stops him before ending the call, "bhabi theek hain na?" he asks with concern, emphasizing on the word – Bhabi … it brings a slight smile on Dev's lips. He never thought this word would sound so beautiful from his friend's mouth for Kaajjal. Kaajjal was his and he knew he would do anything to make her his. Dev's silence makes Anupam flinch, "ok ok, ab ghussa na hona, but hain tu bhabi hi. Tu kitna bhi ghussa ho ja, but I know you love her a lot." Anupam says and Dev's heart yearns to hold Kaajjal again, close to him, in his arms, to feel the love and warmth she made him feel a few moments ago.
"haan …. Kaajjal bilku theek hai." he says softly. "acha ab tum us dinner pay jao, and handle everything okay. And yeah, meri taraf say koee bahana bana daina. I'll see you tomorrow." he ends the call and turns towards Kaajjal.
The passionate moment he and Kaajjal had shared had given him a new confidence. For he could clearly feel Kaajjal's feelings in her tight arms around him. 'she loves me, she still loves me,' his heart sings with joy. But, before he could say anything Kaajjal spoke,
"Do we really have to stay her the whole night?" her voice was distant again. The magic that was in the air a few moments ago was lost. Dev's heart skips a beat at her strange tone, yet he tried to ignore.
"Haan Kaajjal," he comes near her, but she pulls herself back. Although she could not stand, but she dragged herself backwards, away from his touch. She was still embarrassed at how she had willingly stepped into his arms and loved every bit of it. She needed to maintain their distance; otherwise, she did not know what would happen. He was a magician and she knew he already had her in his deep spell. Dev saw her retreating and spoke instantly,
"kya baat hai." he is confused. Her strange attitude is driving him crazy. Poor guy is not able to understand why she is behaving the way she is.
"main yahan raat bhar nahi reh sakti," she says rudely, "I have to go. I have to go now." she says and tries to stand up, but her knees does not permit her to do so. The pain was too much. She tries to balance herself but falls on the ground with a cry.
"Kaajjal," Dev moves instantly, trying to support her,
"haath na lagaiyay mujhay," she shouts hysterically. 'good God, phir say dora par gaya ….' Dev was losing his patience now.
"kya matlab hai is baat ka," irrespective of her tantrums, he moves forward and grabs her by her shoulders, "what the hell is your problem Kaajjal. Jab dil chaha meray paas aa gaee, aur jab dil chaha mujhay shak ki nazar say dekhna shuru kar diya." Dev has lost his patience completely. Holding her firmly by her shoulders, roaring like a lion, he brings her to a near heart attack. She looks at him with fearful eyes and he instantly realizes her fear. He drops his hand from her shoulders, banishing any physical contact, but he does not move from his place. They are still close to each other, their bodies inches apart, such that they could hear the sound of their breathing. Dev was not able to make sense of her behavior and decided to talk like civilized people,
"Kaajjal," he looks at her with softened voice, "Kaajjal please tum aisa kuin kay rahi ho. Aik lamhay tum mujhay apni lagti ho aur doosray hi lamhay parayee." His eyes beg for an explanation. "A moment ago I felt your love and passion, and now this behavior…. I am confused. Please tell me Kaajjal, what do you want from Me?" he begs but she maintains her silence. "Dekho mujhay Kaajjal, main tumhara Dev hoon. Jawab do, kuin kar rahi ho tum aisa apnay Dev kay saath?" He waits, she ignores, and that is it for DPS.
"Main nay kuch poocha hai Kaajjal," his voice getting angry again,
"I am not bound to answer your questions Mr. Singh." She strikes back, 'o God, Mr. Singh again …..' Dev wants to run somewhere. He clenches his jaws, lips firmly held together, trying to control his frustration. "Besides, had you driven the car carefully we wouldn't have been here."
"You mean I did it intentionally." He looks at her angrily,
"Who knows." Her words send him to a dreadful shock. "People like you come to towns like ours and …" she stops, sensing his anger; she dare not say another word.
"And?" he demands, but she keeps quiet. O what has she done, made him very angry. "And what God damn it?" he once again grabs her by her shoulders,
"And this," she glares back shifting her gaze to his hand where he is holding her shoulders. He follows her gaze in horror. "bahanay bahanay say aap mujhay haath laga rahay hain. Mein akaily hoon tu is ka yeh matlab nahi kay main kamzor hoon." She gives him the strangest ever look, trying to be brave, though she knew, Dev would never have to impose anything on her. His nearness was enough to drive her crazy. She was not afraid of him, but her own self, her own distracted thoughts and haywire senses, which were all craving for this stranger. Her detestable words made him drop his hands instantly. He was not able to believe what he just heard. How could she disrespect his love for her like this? He felt his feet froze at that moment and his face was an expression of disbelief.
"kya kehna chahti ho tum, main tumharay saath zabardasti karna chahta hoon?" Dev's anger speaks. His hurt was evident from his face, and Kaajjal could see it clearly. She sees his grave seriousness and her hart stops. Did she go too far this time? Did she say what she should not have said? Did she hurt him too much? She knew Dev Pratap Singh will never do anything to harm her. She didn't know why, but her heart was ready to trust him. Her silence pinches him, and once again he moves forward, grabbing her by her shoulders, bringing her face to face, "main nay poocha, what the hell do you think of me?" he breathing gets heavy, his nostrils flares with anxiety, and his jaw bone tightens with tension.
However, in an instant, he relaxes, for he had something else in his mind. He leaves her shoulders and moves his finger towards her forehead, tracing the side of her face, removing the hair lock, which had been touching her cheek constantly. The moment his fingers touched her, she loses herself again. 'O God, what is the power this man has on me.' she tilts her face sideways, trying to escape his touch, but in vain.
"dekho apnay aap ko." he says with amazing passion and command, "meray chootay hi tum beqaboo ho jati ho." Her eyes are bent and her lips trembled at his words; for she knew he was saying the truth.
"dekho, tumharay dil ki dhadkan mujhay yahan tak sunaee day rahi hai," she lifts her eyes at this only to find his passionate gaze creating havocs to her senses. Their eyes meet in a fieriest gaze she had ever experienced and she drops her eyes instantly. However, Dev does not let her hide. He moves his fingers under her chin and lifts her face up, forcing her to look into his eyes.
"mehsoos karo apni bechainy," her lips trembled attracting his attention, "tadap rahi ho tum meri bahon main aanay kay liyay…" with a husky whisper he slightly traces her lower lip with his thumb, "tadap rahi ho tum mujhay choonay kay liyay…" her lips part at his gentle yet meaningful touch and she feels her senses trailing. She knew she would not be able to resist him now. He had once again casted hi spell. The uneven rise and fall of her chest gives away her every feeling. With eyes still locked into each other, she was hypnotized by him.
He brings his face closer to her, and her heart stops. He moves even closer, his eyes shifts to her trembling lips and passion flared. She knew what he would do, but she does not stop him. How could she, this was her Dev, the man she had loved more than her life. Though her mind did not register him, but her heart still belonged to him. She had lived his essence and her heart, body, and soul knew him so well. Their lips are centimeters apart, such that they could feel their breath fanning each other's face. He lifts his eyes to meet hers again and their hearts and souls communicated at that moment. They both knew they belonged to each other. She gives into the sensation and anticipating the touch of his lips on hers she closes her eyes, permitting him to do whatever he wants. He feels her submission, her trust, her faith in him, and he shifts his gaze back to her lips. Their innocence was very inviting. He craved to touch them, feel their warmth and sensation, but …. With a jerk, he stands up, leaving a restless and unsatisfied Kaajjal. She feels him moving away and opens her eyes instantly, only to find him walking away from her. Her eyes trace his footsteps but he had already left the shed, gone into the darkness of the night.
"Dev," she calls him from behind, her voice a weak whisper, for she was still trying to figure out what had captured her senses so wildly, that she had given into the sensation and anticipation of his touch.
