The Strange Path
Recap: Everyone got to know about the most awaiting news; Aarzo was asked to move to London……which was an equal shock to all, leaving them with a lot of different thoughts and wishes.
Chapter: 17
The cold winds entered harshly inside the room from the large, opened windows. It was raining heavily outside, with the blue sky completely hidden behind those dark clouds. Either it was a bird or a person….all were hiding under protective covers to escape this sweet and peaceful time of noon turned into a chilling and disturbing phase of the day. However, all of this doesn't seem to affect this slight and tender figure sitting on the corner of her bed, clutching tightly on one of the pillows. Tears were flowing endlessly from her lonely eyes that were staring into nothingness. Those tears tasted saltier than sea water. Aarzo was shivering from the cold but still didn't make an attempt to close those nearby windows or even to cover herself with something warm. She was crying from the past few hours. Aarzo was ashamed of herself for thinking that her Bade pa was making a wrong decision for her. Why would he? Her Bade pa loves her a lot like his own daughter. But what can she do to make her heart agree with this decision? No matter how many logical explanation her mind provides, no change was coming in her decision of not leaving her home. She was just adamant and didn't want to think further into this matter. Her slow cries have now turned into little sobs. She was crying on her unfaithful and cruel fate…. Why can't things go the way we want it to? Why do unwanted things happen just so suddenly that you don't even sense it coming sometimes? Why does sadness always have to come in one's life? Why? Why? Why? Aarzo's mind was surrounded by all these questions but no one was there to answer her, to console her or even give her a warm hug!
* Knock* Knock *
Somebody knocked lightly on the locked door Aarzo's room, distracting her from her thoughts. She quickly wiped her tears with her hands and went to open the door. "I have been knocking from the past hour. Where were you?", an enthusiastic Shiza said entering inside the room. "Oh! I am…..sorry….I didn't realize it!", Aarzo replied looking down. "Hey chill Aaru! I was just joking around with you so need for this apology!", Shiza said as she jumped on Aarzo's bed making herself comfortable. "Oh okay.", Aarzo replied grimly but Shiza who was lost in her own dream world hardly noticed it. "Hey! I am here too!!!", a voice came from outside the room stopping Aarzo from closing the door behind her. "I am sorry…I didn't see you there. I am really sorry.", Aarzo apologized and quietly went inside. "It's okay dude! Just relax. You take too much tension", said a tall figure walking inside. Aarzo just gave Ali a small smile in return and sat beside Shiza. "Where are they?", Shiza asked Ali, cozying in the pink coloured plush blanket. "I am not your servant madam that I will keep a check on everyone for you!", Ali replied in his usual way. "Aaru say him that don't talk to me in this way. He is so mean to mee!!!", Shiza complained like a child to his parent. "I am not mean to you. This is just my style okay?", Ali commented back to Shiza. "You are! Remember at that time in London you didn't give me a lift for my school and at that time you didn't wait for me and ran off in your car and also when you spilled coke on my dress and when…..", Shiza started her long list of complains but before she could continue further Aarzo shouted loudly, "Stop it both of you! Stop acting like little kids and if you guys want to argue then do it somewhere else. I need some peace of mind here please!" Aarzo took all her anger on the two poor souls, who were shocked out of their wits of her sudden outburst. "I am sorry guys. I am just so sorry. I don't know what to say…..i don't know……what to do…..i don't know….just don't know….please go from here……go away….", Aarzo said finally breaking down infront of them. "Hey….Aaru…..what happened buddy? Why are you crying?", Ali asked worriedly as he kneeled down on the ground to face Aarzo. "Shiz…go bring a glass of water for her….", he requested to Shiza, who nodded in agreement and silently went outside as she knew Ali wanted to talk to Aarzo alone. There was this special bonding between Aarzo and Ali that allows them to share every tiny secret with each other.
"Now tell me what happened? What IS the matter? Whenever I see you, you are always crying!", Ali said as he sat beside Aarzo on the cold bed. "I don't want to talk! Please go from here Ali before I say something hurtful to you, which I don't want to do.", Aarzo replied looking away, trying to avoid him. "Stop it. Look at me first!", Ali demanded neglecting whatever she said. "Ali please goo ……I don't need anyone! Just go from here!!!", Aarzo said adamantly as she started sobbing once again. This was just enough for Ali……what does she think of herself? What does she want to do to herself by crying all the time? "Aarzo if you don't listen to me now then I would never talk to you and you know that how stubborn I am in these matters.", Ali gave her his last warning. Aarzo knew that whatever he was saying was true and most of all she didn't want to loose a dear friend by any means. "I am sorry!", she gave in atlast, looking up to Ali apologetically. "It's okay! But never do that again.", he replied seriously to which Aarzo just nodded her head like a scared child. "Now madam would you even start telling me what went wrong? Why were you crying?", Ali asked acting as if he was irritated to the limit. "Ali!! I don't know how to say this….i mean that ….I …..I…....don't want to move from here…….I just don't! I can't no matter how much I try. This home is now the only memory I have left of my parents. How can I leave from here? Tell me Ali?", she told him trying hard to keep herself away from crying anymore. Ali sighed loudly as he took in deep breaths, trying to find a way to explain the situation to Aaru in the best way possible. "See…Aaru! We all know how much you love this home and how hard will it be for you to live somewhere else…….thousands of miles away from here…..but you will have to sacrifice Aaru……Have you ever thought of how will you live here alone?....I mean none of us are able to stay here permanently and neither do any of us want to leave you here alone! You are just eighteen Aaru! You haven't seen the real world then how will you be able to manage it all alone by yourself here?? Tell me??", Ali questioned her after his little explanation, hoping that she is understanding his point is. Apparently, on the other hand Aarzo haven't still considered thinking about this question Ali had just asked about. She was just too shocked to even think about other things except for her unyielding decision of not leaving this house. "I don't know about all those things. I don't care about anything as long as I am living here in my home!", Aarzo declared still sticking to her decision as she tried to ignore all the facts and reasons Ali have just stated. It was going to be very hard of a job to pursue Aarzo, thought Ali.
