The Strange Path
RECAP: The confrontation between Aarzo and Ali, which gave a start to a long argument for perusing Aarzo for London.
Chapter: 18
At times, some circumstances and sentiments can lead one to a situation where no matter how much sense does the other makes or how reasonable they sound, it doesn't have any affect. All those logical explanations and facts are not able to convince even the most understanding person around just because of the situation they are caught in. The same was happening to Aarzo at this moment. Nothing mattered more than this dear home to her…..her desire for this house has blind folded her senses to understand all those explanations Ali was giving her from the past hour. It was as if this persistent decision of hers for not leaving this house was turning into a strong passion for which she was even ready to fight with one of her most dear friends.
It was getting much colder outside as the bright orange sun prepared for dawn, saying goodbye to the chilly afternoon. Light clouds of fog filled the streets as the heavy rain atlast left the sight. The clock had just struck 5 o' clock but yet the view outside made one feel it as one of the spring mornings. Birds were flying back to nests. It felt as if all trees and plants were given a new energy, glowing in all shades of green. It all was just too refreshing and still gave a warm feeling on the inside.
Silence filled each corner of the room. Ali was sitting on one of the large, soft cushions placed a feet far from Aarzoo's queen sized bed. He had both his hands on his head which resembled all his frustration and disappointment from one the people he never expected to give him this kind of a nuisance. Here, Aarzo sat on the other corner of her bed, her head bowed in her folded legs as she hugged her knees tightly. None of them wanted to talk after all the nonstop argument they went on for an hour. Both were right at their own places but wanted to convince the other with the same which didn't happen as Ali and Aarzo are both strong believers of their opinions. Even knowing their mistake both waited for the other to start a conversation, sitting silently in their respective places.
"Why don't you understand Aaru? It's not right!.....Your decision is not right! Please Aaru try to comprehend it! It might be the first time that our own opinions have sent us far from the other. Is it that now we can't rely on our friendship anymore, Aaru? I thought we were the best of friends who understand each other and care about their opinions!! Aaru I don't like this….that…..that we are not even able to talk…….just because of one argument……is an argument enough that we can turn our backs to this friendship so easily?" All these thoughts and questions mingled around Ali's head as he sat looking out of the window through that shiny transparent glass.
"Ali why are you not trying to understand me?? I know that I am being very stubborn but you have to look at how important this matter is to me too!!! I don't want to spoil our friendship because of this but I can't help fighting back for what I think is right! Doesn't my decision count in this matter? Ali you would have to understand my side of story too!! I respect your opinion and I know that it might be the right one but……please think about me…….It's a very tough choice for me. I am not liking all this argument and frustrations we are getting from this matter because I know we might end up regretting it if it's not solved earlier!!" Aarzo's thoughts also lingered around as she still sat in the same position.
Ali shook his hand through the open air around the room as he stood up in irritation, sighed in heavily and quickly paced to the corner Aarzo sat in. He did a false cough to get her attention as sitting loudly on the bed didn't work. She looked up secretly from between her hands, knowing exactly who was doing it. "Uhum…..Uhumm……I think someone here thinks that they can fool anybody…but unfortunately they don't know that no one can fool Ali the great!", Ali said trying to catch her attention. "Who can fool a person who is already a fool but …..tutu…tutu….I pity him……this poor soul isn't even aware of it!", Aarzo replied in return, hiding her head in one the pillows behind her. "Oh really? I wonder who said that! Poor person have gone invisible…….but oh well! No one here currently cares for this silly invisible stunt or better say a trick!", he challenged her in his own way. "I am not an invisible person! Get it? Can't you see a full alive body infront of you Mister Ali the great??", Aarzo mocked him sarcastically as she threw the pillow on the other side in annoyance and looked up to him.
"Why are you looking at me so angrily…..what have I done?", Ali said acting all innocent. "Ali you better be quite!" Aarzo shot him an angry glare. "But why?", he questioned again. "Don't act smart with me Ali…….why were you saying me invisible? Do you need glasses to see me now?", she replied back, partly making fun of him. "Who said I was saying you invisible?? I never said it!!!", he declared trying to get away. "Yes you did…..you liar!!", she told him off. "I am NOT a liar!", Ali said getting irritated of the new name he just got from Aaru.
"Yes, you are!", Aarzo said teasing him more.
"No, I am NOT!", he fought back.
"Yess…."
"No……"
"Yes"
"No"
"Yes!"
"Okay. Okay I am a liar….. Happy now?", Ali said sulking half of the time. Seeing this Aarzo became a little sad and quickly said, "Hey….I was just joking…It's not that only Mr. Ali the great is allowed to joke! We, poor people also have a right to joke dude." She said trying to copy Ali's style. "Stop copying me!!", he whined instead, showing off a fake irritation. "Why? Do you have its copyrights kia?", she asked annoying him more. "Keep Quite Aarzo…Stop irritating me!!", he said finally looking away. "Oh! I……I...am…sor...sorry…..I didn't know that you don't like it….Sorry!" She said dejectedly, getting up to go away from there. "Oh God! Aaru! buddy I was just playing around. Why do you get fooled so easily? You take everything just too seriously." Ali made her sit again, beside him.
"Okay! Now on a serious note.....I am really sorry for that argument....I guess I was coming too strong on you.", Ali apologized to her like a real gentlemen. "That's all right! I forgive you this time.", Aarzo said smiling at him and then getting up to go towards the other corner of the room where her computer was placed. "Umm.....Aaru? Aren't you forgetting something?", he asked stopping her in the midway. "Nope. I don't think so!" She shrugged her shoulders but was smirking secretly in her heart. "No Aaru…Think Hard!! I am sure you ARE forgetting a very important thing....like owing an apology to someone!", he said signaling her. "Looks like someone wants an apology really badly.", she giggled. However, before Ali could say something, she said, "All right! I know.....I know that I owe an apology to you Ali......I don't forget things that easily....I was just pulling your leg!", she said trying real hard to suppress her laughter. "I am sorry......And I truly mean it......I felt really bad that we were arguing like enemies and I didn't like a part of it......but I guess we need to listen to the other more to avoid a big dispute over it!", Aarzo said in a very understanding tone which even brought a smile on Ali's face thinking how much their thoughts match.
"I wonder where are they all?", Ali asked, thinking that it has been almost two hours since he saw any of them. "Let's go and check!", Aarzo said as she starting walking out of the room. Ali just gave a slight nod and followed her.
