Angad got a hint of fright in her eyes besides that she had maintained her composure well enough. He spoke to her right in front of her face, 3 inches away now, with a steady tone and a slow steady speed 'You know you're a woman. And I am a well-built up man. So don't try to ever play battles with me to see who's stronger.' He saw confusion built up in her eyes, the fright still there, and then he continued after a brief pause 'Try to push harder next time!'
He saw her shoulders relaxed a bit, no more fright in her eyes. She thought to herself 'Lagta hai gusse toh nahin hai lekin…what on earth he's on about……now?'
He saw the confusion was still there. He knew how to clear that even because he had observed the way she behaved throughout the time when she was around since they first met on the road.
He winked.
Then grinned when a sudden blank expression reached her face which lasted for less than a second but he was fast as well, he started walking up the escalator right after the instant he had winked.
He felt realization drawn upon her behind him. He chuckled. He turned to glance back just before he reached the next floor; his eyes widen 'Oh boy, she's not entirely what I thought she was!' he told himself under his breathe.
He started running.
She ran behind him, furious than ever.
He reached the next long escalator and ran up the escalator stairs. She wasn't far behind.
They looked like two children fooling around. But since they weren't children, people assumed the girlfriend was running behind her boyfriend due to something which he'd done to her to make her mad. Not to forget, some thought it was cute.
Angad had to get on the small escalators next since the long ones were situated somewhere behind and he hadn't got the time to search for them in case the lady behind might catch up.
Angad shouted aloud, while running, so that she could hear 'Kripa, can't you stop for once?'
Kripa answered back shouting while running after him 'What makes you think I should?'
Angad replied shouting 'Well you just should since you are supposed to be a young DECENT lady…'
<Capital letters in the above and below paragraph means that the word had been emphasized on.>
Kripa interrupted him shouting back 'What makes you think I'M SUPPOSED to be? I AM one, get it?'
Angad looked behind for once to see how much distance was between them 'You wouldn't be running like that if you were one. Besides…' he pointed at her shoes when he stopped running for a brief moment considering the fact that she was behind him but not too close '…you are wearing heels.' He grinned. He started running while she chased him. He was not heading towards any escalators now but towards the crowded areas. He was about to get in the crowd when he heard her yell in pain behind 'Ouch….!'
He paused to turn back to see her falling down, her heels had got slipped somehow. He went to her a little worried but relaxed when he saw her fuming face. At least he wouldn't have to feel guilty when considering the expressions on her face. She wasn't in great pain; she could ignore the pain since it was a small one only. He was surprised that even after falling she didn't care about the little pain she must have been feeling but was still furious at him. She was sitting on the ground massaging her ankle at the moment to get ready to get up. He bent down low so that he was in front of her almost as if sitting in front of her, but he wasn't sitting, he had just bent low enough so hat they leveled. He grinned at her. She looked at him furious.
Angad: So finally gave up, lady?
He smirked.
Kripa snapped: What makes you think that, mister?
He raised his right eyebrow in amusement and smirked.
Angad: I like th…
He couldn't continue since he had to straighten up to start the exercise again. She started running after him. He told himself 'Why can't this girl just give up?'
He wasn't fast this time since she got him.
She got hold of his jacket from behind had steered him around so that he faced her. He grinned to himself 'The girl's definitely got something.' he told himself in his head. She felt awkward now since she didn't know what to do, he noticed the awkwardness she felt and smirked and stood there waiting for her to continue whatever she'd liked to have done to him. He knew she wouldn't do something since they were strangers; barely knew each other. She glanced behind him for a second then immediately looked else where and left his jacket to his amazement.
To add more to his amazement, she smiled, as if nothing had happened, and asked in a calmer tone WITHOUT any sarcasm 'Chale?'
He was stunned by her sudden change in behavior, they started walking, and he followed her, still in a daze, wondering 'What happened to her?'
They had just walked a few steps ahead when someone called Kripa from behind.
'Kripa?'
Kripa looked behind to see her mother walking towards them and calling them. She put on an innocent face. Angad realized the cause of her sudden change of emotions. He smirked thinking how he could pull the innocent cover off of her face.
Gayatri: Main tum dono ko kaab ki dhun rahi hoon? Kahan the tum dono abhi tak?
Kripa glanced at Angad to make sure he wasn't saying anything: Mummy woh bas…
She started but to her surprise Gayatri interrupted saying 'Choro us baat ko, upar chalo. Kripa maine tumhare liye kuch kapre (clothes) pasand kiye hai. Tum dekh lo woh chaiye ya kuch aur, aur saath mein tumhe unhe try bhi toh karma hai. Uff…Kripa tum bohot time lagati ho try karne mein jaldi upar chalo, mujhe jana bhi haina.'
Kripa followed her mother to the 10th floor, they were on the 9th floor then, Angad trailed behind.
The 10th floor hardly had a few shops. At most, there were only 3 big shops there. The whole floor was occupied by 3 shops only. They went into one of the stores.
Gayatri went to the shop assistant.
Gayatri: Excuse me, maine jo teen (three) suits pasand kiye the, woh dekhaiye zaara.
Shop assistant: Ji, madam.
The shop assistant took out 3 suits and placed them on a table, in front of her three customers, separately.
Gayatri turned to Angad and Kripa 'Kripa yeh zaara dekh lo, tumhe kaunsa pasand hai?'
Kripa scanned the clothes while Gayatri talked to Angad 'Angad beta, tum bhi dekh lo kya Kripa ko jaj (suit) tha hai kya nahin. Uski help karlo agar bore ho rahe ho.'
Angad smiled warmly 'Theek hai.'
Kripa picked a lengha and a suit 'Mummy mujhe yeh lengha aur suit pasand hai lekin woh wala suit nahin.'
Angad looked at the clothes then asked 'Uss suit mein kya problem hai? Woh wala bhi acha hai.'
He smirked when he saw her narrowing her eyes at him as if saying 'Who the hell are you to decide what I want to wear?' Gayatri was oblivious to this of course, like always throughout the day.
Gayatri: Haan Kripa woh bhi toh acha hai, lekin tumhari maarzi. Agar yeh dono pasand hai toh phir fitting room mein ja ke try karlo.
Kripa was about to go when Angad stopped her by saying 'Ruko.'
His eyes were looking somewhere else; he had been scanning the shop and spotted something. He pointed, to what he was looking at, for Gayatri and Kripa to look that way.
Angad: Woh wala lengha kaise hai Kripa ke liye, aunty?
Gayatri saw which lengha he was pointing at 'Arai Angad, kya baat hai yeh toh wohi lengha hai jo Kripa ne peechli baar (last time) pasand kiya tha. Lekin tab liya nahin kyun ke kaafi kuch le liya tha tab. Haan waise Kripa tu aaj yeh bhi le lay (get it/ buy it) agar ab bhi pasand hai.'
Angad grinned at Kripa when he learnt that it was her choice as well whereas Kripa just ignored him and wondered 'Pasand toh hai mujhe aaj bhi lekin……iss masibat ki bhi yehi choice hai. Kya karoon? Buy karoun ya na karoun? I think I'll try then buy it, iss masibat ki waja se main itne ache lenghe ko kyun sacrifice karoun. I'll go for it, who cares if our choice's the same. I had chosen it long back. It's just a mere coincidence he thinks it suits me as well.'
Gayatri had asked the shop assistant right away and Kripa took all the 3 sets of clothes, one suit and two lenghas, to the fitting room to try them on.
Gayatri went on looking saris for herself. While Angad just roamed around in the shop, looking at dresses. Thinking whether he should get any for his mom and sisters, later he decides against the idea.
Gayatri: Beta, tum bore ho rahe ho?
Angad: Umm….nahin, I'm fine, aunty.
Gayatri smiled. She looked at the time, 15 minutes had passed, and she thought Kripa must have tried something by now. She took a sari with her and asked Angad to come also. On the way she asked how the sari was and he replied 'It's mind-blowing. Aapko yeh zaroor lena chaiye. I think it'll look awesome on you.'
Gayatri smiled at him 'Thanks beta.'
Angad, kept his hands in his jacket pockets on either side, coolly replied 'No problem aunty lekin agar aap mujhe beta maanti hai toh mujhe nahin lagta aap ko mujhe thanks kehna chaiye. After all you are older than me too, and you are just like my mom…'
Gayatri, sighed happily with a happy smile when he got on his lecture and was continuing on and on, interrupted calming him down even though he had been just talking normally but he wasn't stopping at all 'Theek hai beta. Next time nahin bholo gi.'
Angad shrugged coolly 'Theek hai after all you aren't supposed to thank us children after all…'
He got interrupted by Gayatri laughing 'Beta theek hai. Okay main next time khayal rakho gi.'
He shrugged 'Main bas appko bata raha tha…'
He got interrupted again 'Theek hai beta. I understand. Next time maine kaha na aisa kuch nahin bholoon gi.'
He shrugged again and this time before he could speak, Gayatri put her hand on his shoulder giggling so that he wouldn't start again and told him instead 'Dekh the hai Kripa ready hui hai ke nahin.'
He shrugged once more but never really realized how he'd make Gayatri laugh and for what. He was confused about that but then just left it aside.
They reached the fitting room corridor and Gayatri stood in front of Kripa's fitting room door.
Gayatri called out 'Kripa, tumne kuch try kiya hai?'
A muffled voice from inside called out 'Haan…..Mummy main….main bas ek minute mein nikal thi ho…one minute wait karo…'
Gayatri sighed and looked helplessly at Angad. Angad just smiled back.
After about five minutes Kripa unlocked the fitting room door and came out wearing a black trouser kameez with a hint of purple in it.
She saw Angad right in front of her, leaning on the wall right opposite HER fitting room, looking at her from bottom to top but not exactly in a way, you know like checking her out, he didn't even gasp when he saw her, not that she was even expecting him to. She looked fine; a decent woman in them, no body could guess she's a lady with such manners he thought to himself. Gayatri exclaimed 'Kripa, tum achi lagti ho isme! Tumhe kaisa lagta hai?'
Kripa frowned seeing Angad but then turned to Gayatri and tried to put on a smile on her face 'Acha hai.' Later she added 'Theek hai. I guess I want it.'
She wasn't all that excited and especially not after she had to see Angad the first thing when she came out.
Gayatri: Angad tumhe kaise lagta hai? Kya Kripa ko yeh suit karta hai?
Angad pretended to think and observe her for a while, he smirked to himself inside when a thought actually came to him but he didn't say that out aloud, yet.
Kripa rolled her eyes when Gayatri didn't look her way, the last thing she needed was HIS advice on what she should wear and what not, she told herself in her head annoyed.
Angad: Acha hai.
That's all he said.
Gayatri showed Kripa the sari she chose for herself 'Kripa yeh kaise hai?'
Kripa looked at it and really liked it for her mother 'Acha hai. Aapko yeh lena chaiye.'
Gayatri smiled 'Angad neb hi yehi kaha tha. Theek hai, pehle mein try kar ti ho.'
Kripa rolled her eyes, when Gayatri looked at the sari herself again, at the first line her mother said. 'Angad. Angad. Angad. Gosh, I'm tired of him.' she told herself in her mind frustrated.
Gayatri was about to go when she stopped and turned to look at Angad 'Angad, kya tum yaha wait karo ge ya phir idhar udar kuch dekh na chaho ge?'
Angad shook his head and smiled 'Yaha par hi wait kar loon ga.'
Gayatri smiled back and went to a fitting room which was a little further away because there weren't any empty fitting rooms near Kripa's fitting room. Kripa also went back to her fitting room right away.
She locked her room. Not even five seconds had passed since she locked her room when someone knocked. She hadn't started changing yet, so she opened the door without complaining. She saw Angad standing there to her horror.
In someway, she was disgusted seeing him, he saw that and smirked.
Kripa (in a clearly annoyed tone): Ab kya hai?
Angad, still smirking, answered 'Waise Kripa, don't you think what you are wearing is actually…' he purposely left the sentence mid-way.
Kripa was a little curious about what someone had to say about the dress she was trying, be it a beggar or a rich man, she had to know everyone's comment before buying a dress, not because she wanted someone to comment how she looked in the dress and all but just in case to know if what she was buying was really worth buying or she could find something better maybe and something like that, so she asked, narrowing her eyes, a little curious but all the same furious as well 'Actually what?'
Angad smirked, he was about to say what he had thought earlier would annoy her, he hoped it would anyway, since it was kind of lame he wasn't sure if she'd get annoyed, but he was going to use each and every chance, to annoy this girl, he could get 'You don't think of something when wearing that?'
Clearly this guy was a nutcase she thought to herself, couldn't he just say it in one line, he was clearly wasting her time 'Just say what you have to say.' 'And fast.' she added later.
Angad: Well when I first saw you wear that, the color combination…
Then he thought of something and added while congratulating himself in his head.
Angad (continuing): ….and the fact that you are wearing it makes it better to wear on a Halloween than someone's wedding!
Kripa jaws dropped. "What?" she screamed in her head.
He chuckled 'Well isn't black and purple also a Halloween color combination?'
She just closed the door, actually slammed it in front of his face to be exact. He congratulated himself again; after all he was successful in annoying her. Again. And why not? Even if it WAS lame, he had annoyed her enough before that a small thing could get her annoyed now even.
She fumed with anger, while changing into the lengha she had loved the last time she visited the shop, and coincidently the guy also liked it, 'What on earth does he even think of himself? If he says something it doesn't mean that it's carved on a stone or anything. He's just a nutcase Kripa, just a nutcase. Well not exactly…a nutcase, all he's trying to do is make you angry. Just try to remain cool next time and act as if you don't even bother about what he says. He doesn't even know his limits!! He barely knows me and he's acting as if I'm his old pal who's used to his joking around and all. Oh how I hate this guy. Angad. Angad Khanna. A total….a total….stupaco! Is that even a word? Stupaco? Whatever! That is what he is: Stupaco!!!'
