Soon the break was up, the judge returned and gave the verdict in favour of Ganga and Sahil as they were the biological parents, this devasted Sujal and Kashish.
Part 10
The rain beat heavily against the windows, outside it was dark and gloomy and inside the house it was gloomy and quiet, Kashish is lying in bed with tears constantly flowing from her eyes. Sujal was sat on the floor of the nursery holding a teddy bear he had given to Jaspreet, he also had tears flowing from his eyes and on the floor nearby were photographs of him and Jaspreet.
****4 Hours Earlier****
Sujal and Kashish drove home after the court case, Kashish ran inside and held Jaspreet, meanwhile Ganga, Sahil and a police officer arrived at their house, Sujal answered the door
G - Mr Garewal, my daughter if you may?
S (softly) - one moment
Sujal turned to Kashish, but she held Jaspreet close to her and ran into a room and locked the door, the police officer spoke
Po - Mr Garewal I would like to advise you that if you or Mrs Garewal refuse to give her up I will have to arrest you
S - I know, please just give us a few minutes alone with her, to say goodbye
Po - ok
Sujal knocked on the door
K - I'm not giving her to them
S - Kash, open the door
The door unlocked, Sujal walked in and locked the door behind him, Kashish had Jaspreet cradled in her arms, Sujal sat beside her and held Jaspreet's hand
S - we lost Kashish, we have no choice
K (crying) - how can we give her away so easily?
S - it's not easy I know Kashish, but unless we do they will arrest us both
K (crying) - she's our daughter
S - Kashish, listen to me, no matter what anyone says, no matter where Jaspreet is, she will always be ours
Sujal hugged Kashish then stood up and left the room
S - officer, we will have to go to my house as Jaspreet's clothes are there
Po - ok we will follow
S - Kashish come on
Kashish came outside with Jaspreet and followed Sujal into the car, they arrived at Sujal's house, Sujal and Kashish took Jaspreet inside and went upstairs to the nursery, Kashish held Jaspreet as Sujal packed her things
K - make sure you pack her bunny sleepsuit, she likes that
S - ok
K - and her nappies, and the bottles
S - ok
K - oh and pack her teddy bears
S - Kashish I know!
Kashish went silent, Sujal looked at her and saw her lips quiverring, he went over and took her into his arms and kissed her forehead
S - I'm sorry Kashish
K - its ok
S - the house is going to be so quiet without her
K - yeah
Sujal and Kashish watched as Jaspreet looked at them and smiled
J - mama.....dada
Sujal kissed her cheeks and forehead then continued packing her things away. After an hour all of her belongings were in Sahil's car, Kashish put Jaspreet's coat on her, then handed her to Sujal
S - be good for me ok princess
J - dada
S - I love you
Sujal kissed her forehead and handed her over to Ganga, as if Jaspreet realised she was going away from Sujal and Kashish she began crying, Kashish went forward to hold her but Sujal held her back
K - Sujal, she's crying
S - I know....
K - let me make her quiet
S - no....her mother will do it
Kashish looked at Sujal then ran upstairs, Sahil faced Sujal
Sa - I never wanted it to happen this way
S - just get out
Sahil and Ganga left with a screaming Jaspreet in their arms, Sujal slammed the door shut and went upstairs to Kashish, she was lying on her bed crying, Sujal was about to go inside but went into the nursery
****present****
Sahil and Ganga took Jaspreet home, they put her on the floor and gave her some toys but Jaspreet threw them away and continued crying
Sa - Ganga, do something, make her quiet, the neighbours will hear
G - I've tried! she just keeps crying
Ganga picked her up again and tried rocking her
Sa - you're her mother.....just make her quiet
Sahil left the room, Ganga sat down with Jaspreet and looked at her crying
J - mama
G - yes...I'm your mama
Jaspreet tried to free herself from Ganga but Ganga held onto her, Ganga looked in Jaspreet's eyes and could tell she was missing Sujal and Kashish
G - don't worry baby, you will forget them eventually
**1 week later**
Sujal and Kashish continued going to work but were very quiet, they left the nursery as it was, to lighten the mood Sujal took Kashish out for lunch
S - so what will you have?
K - mmm...just a coffee for now
S - two coffees please
As Sujal and Kashish waited for their coffees, Kashish spotted Ganga, Sahil and a crying Jaspreet
K - Sujal look, Jaspreet
Sujal turned his head and smiled, Jaspreet saw them and quietend down, Ganga noticed and looked to where Jaspreet was smiling at and spotted Kashish, Ganga ignored them, she picked Jaspreet up but Jaspreet got out of her grasp and ran to Sujal and Kashish and was scooped up by Sujal, he kissed her cheeks
S - my princess, we missed you
K - give her to me
Sujal handed Jaspreet over to Kashish who kissed her cheeks, Ganga watched
G - Sahil.....
Sa - what?
G - what's Jaspreet's favourite food?
Sa - how do I know? I haven't been feeding her
G - Sahil, don't you see, we don't know our own daughter, she might have stopped crying but she misses Sujal and Kashish
Sa - what are you saying?
G - turn around, look over there
Sahil turned his head and saw Sujal and Kashish playing with Jaspreet, this angered Sahil
Sa - what are they doing with her?
Sahil stood up and went over to them and Ganga followed
Sa - give my daughter back
K - but...
Sahil snatched Jaspreet from them, she began crying which upset Ganga
G - enough Sahil, if there is one thing I know about being a mother is every mother wishes their childs happiness, and Jaspreet's happiness lies with Sujal and Kashish
Sa - but Ganga
G - she will always be our daughter, but in the true sense her parents are Sujal and Kashish
Ganga picked up Jaspreet and handed her to Kashish
G - I'm sorry for everything, I promise we won't interfere now, you can be her legal parents, as long as we can see her
Kashish hugged Ganga
S - Ganga, you don't know what you have done for us, thank you so much
G - its ok Sujal, I will send you the adoption papers
K - thank you so much
One week later all of Jaspreet's things were moved back into Sujal's house, the adoption formalities were completed, Sujal and Kashish were both happy.
