Part 8
It was the wedding day, Sujal was at his house dressed up in a white shervani with a matching scarf and a matching turban. Kashish was at her house dressed in a baby pink heavily embroided lengha with Jaspreet in her arms who was wearing a baby blue trouser suit that Kashish's mum had brought for her. At the Garewal House....
V - Sujal hurry up, we have to go now!
S - coming mom
Sujal came downstairs, his mom did his aarti and then went ouside where Sujal sat on the horse and the boys side left for Kashish's house, at Kashish's house her mom Gayatri and her cousins were waiting for the grooms side
girl - they're here!
Kashish stood up and looked from the balcony, she saw Sujal get off the horse with his face covered and entering the house, she sat back on the bed waiting for someone to get her
G - come on inside
Gayatri led Sujal and Veena inside, Sujal sat at the mandap and looked around
G - what are you looking for? Kashish won't be down until the pundit says
S - aunty...I'm...
G - call me mom now
S - ok, mom i'm looking for Jaspreet
G - i'll go get her
Gayatri went upstairs and into Kashish's room
K - they calling me?
G - not yet, Sujal wants to see Jassi
K - don't call her that mom, her names Jaspreet
G - haan haan, give her to me
Kashish kissed Jaspreet's cheek then handed her to her mom. Gayatri took her downstairs, Sujal got happy seeing her, Gayatri handed her to him and even Jaspreet was happy seeing Sujal. Sujal kissed her cheeks
S - hey my angel, did you miss me?
J - dada
S - yes dada.....today its mama and papa's wedding day, then tommorow we will sign the papers and you will be ours
Sujal cuddled Jaspreet
Pandit - call the bride
G - ok
Gayatri told some girls to go get Kashish. She picked Jaspreet up and held her, Sujal looked at the stairs waiting for Kashish. Soon she arrived, Sujal was in awe, she looked beautiful, the girls helped her sit next to Sujal
S (whispers) - you look amazing
K (whispers) - so do you
They smiled at each other, the pundit began the rituals for the wedding, they put the garland of flowers on each other, walked around the fire, Sujal put the mangalsutar on Kashish then put sindoor on her forehead. They both took blessings from their parents, photos were taken and the farewell ceremony took place
K - mat royie mama I'll be visiting
G - I know, but today i'm doubly sad
K - why?
G - because I'm saying goodbye to my grand-daughter as well as my daughter
Kashish hugged her mum and cried, she then hugged her dad, took Jaspreet from one of her cousins and sat in the car next to Sujal, he held her hand
S - our family is almost complete
Sujal kissed her cheek, and wiped her tears. At the Garewal Mansion
V - Sujal, why don't you permanantly stay here?
S - mom come on, you have all the family here and all of mine, Kashish's and Jaspreet's clothes are at my house
V - I know son, but if you were here....never mind, go Kashish is waiting for you
S - where's Jaspreet?
V - sleeping, don't worry about her
Sjal hugged his mom then went towards his room, he opened the door slowly and saw Kashish sitting on the bed, he closed the door and took of his turban and his top, he went towards Kashish and lifted her duppata
S - you look beautiful
Kashish blushed, Sujal kissed her cheeks then began removing her jewellery kissing her in each place as he took them off, Kashish hugged Sujal as he undid the back of her blouse, he showered her with kisses and took her into his arms, he put the sheet over them. The next day, Kashish woke up early, showered and made tea for Sujal, she came inside and Sujal was still sleeping
K - Sujal wake up
Sujal moaned, Kashish giggled, she got her wet hair and sprinkled water on Sujal's face which woke him up
S - Kashish what are you doing
K - waking you up sleepy head
Sujal smiled and hugged Kashish and began kissing her neck, Kashish pushed him away
K - what are you doing?
S - romancing with my wife
K (blushes) - was last night not enough?
S - not even close
Kashish leaned forward and picked up the tea cup before Sujal could kiss her, she handed it to him
K - go freshen up, we have to leave soon
S - for where?
K - stupid! we have to finalise the adoption today
Sujal jumped out of bed and into the shower, Kashish giggled then went outside to see Jaspreet. Sujal soon showered and changed and came into the room where Kashish was playing with Jaspreet
K - it's her first birthday soon
S - how do you know?
K - she was 6 months when we found her, 5 months have gone, her birthday is next month, I wish there was a way to find out which day
Sujal held Jaspreet and kissed her hands
S - well, as soon as we finalise the adoption, we will make our own birhtday for her
K - meaning?
Sujal sat next to Kashish and kissed her cheek
S - we can celebrate her birthday exactly one month from now, we can hardly find a way to find out her actual birthday but this will be good enough
Kashish smiled and hugged Sujal. Both got up and headed towards the hall
V - where are you going?
S - to finalise te adoption mom
V - well hurry back, we have to go to Kashish's house for the pag-phere
K - ok mom
Sujal and Kashish headed towards the main door, Sujal opened it and found a woman before them
S - yes, how may I help you?
The woman looked over Sujal's shoulder towards Kashish who was holding Jaspreet
W - that baby.....
S - my daughter? what about her?
W - no, she's not yours......she's mine
Sujal and Kashish looked at her shockedly
K - wh....who are you?
W - I am her mother...Ganga (Shilpa Saklani)
K - her mother?
G - yes her mother, she is my daughter
Kashish looked at Sujal while she clutched Jaspreet close to her
S - how do we know you're telling the truth?
G - I...I have her birth certificate and photo's of when she was born....I'm telling the truth
S - show me
Ganga took out a paper from her bag and handed it to Sujal, he looked at it and read
S - Jaspreet Kaur, daughter of Ganga Kaur and Sahil Singh, born 9th May 2006
He looked back at Kashish who was almost down to tears
G - and here are the photos
Ganga took out some photos and showed them to Sujal, Sujal looked at them sadly and showed them to Kashish
S - .....she's her mother Kashish
G - please, I know I left my daughter with you but I have come to take her with me
Sujal looked at Kashish, who shook her head
K - no...no...NO! She isn't her mother Sujal! She isn't! I'm her mom...Sujal..me
S (teary) - I know Kashish...but we can't do anything about it, we have to give her back
Kashish held Jaspreet close to her
K - no, she's my daughter, I won't give her to anyone
G - please, I have spent 5 months without her, only I know how I have survivied
K - well...you shouldn't have given her up!
G - I had no choice....please sir explain to your wife....I don't want to use legal force with you, just give my daughter back
Sujal looked at Ganga then at Kashish, slowly he began taking Jaspreet from Kashish
K - Sujal no!!!!
S - she's her mom Kashish....
Sujal walked towards Ganga, while holding Jaspreet, when he was right in front of her Ganga smiled and held out her hands
S - she's her mom Kashish......but she will have to fight for Jaspreet in court if she wants her. Listen to me carefully Miss Ganga, we have taken care of Jaspreet for 5 months, do you know what she calls us? mama and papa, understand and I will not let some stranger come and take my daughter from us!
Sujal shut the door in Ganga's face, Kashish ran to him and held Jaspreet and hugged Sujal. When the felt Ganga had left, they too left for the adoption agency
S - please let us sign the papers
guy - I'm really sorry sir, if you had come earlir we would have let you, but we recieved a visit from her real mother who is not allowing the adoption to take place
Sujal looked at him angrily then left with Kashish. When they got home Veena was waiting for them
V - this came for you
Sujal took the envelope off her and opened it
K - what is it?
S - court summons, case for who gets custody of Jaspreet
Kashish looked at Sujal sadly
