Naina and Alekh, spent all these few days together, happiness or sorrow, it just didn't matter. They were happy now, happy together. And today, was their Engagement Day. They were happy, extremely overjoyed. Though they were quite happy about their Engagement, they just didn't expect all this to happen so quickly!
Let's now come back to the future, and see what happens at this 'AUSPISCIOUS' day!
Let's star from the beginning. Maybe from the time Naina went to get ready. Uffff! These girls, I tell you. They take hundreds of years to get ready! No need to laugh people. Alekh turned into such a bragger on his Engagement, and he went about boasting to all his friends, that how quickly Naina did everything. And today, she took the maximum time, a to-be-bride would take on her Engagement Day. Alekh was feeling so horrified about all this bragging of his! But still, now just everyone knew how much time a girl takes, na?
'Naina looked beautiful, gorgeous. She looked like Cinderella looked on the day of the Big Ball.
As she stepped down the decorated staircase, everyone looked at her, as if they had never seen her before. Alekh was there. Every beat of the heart of both Naina and Alekh felt heavy now. They were nervous, almost dead with a happy apprehension. Funny, but it was like that. You know, they were excited, yet, they were terrified. Yes, they were excited because now, they had started liking each other. They had started meeting more, in the past few days, and hence, knew each other's positive side now. Nervous because, they thought, that how would it be like to live one's life with one's biggest ex-enemy!'
"Looking gorgeous!" said Pooja, as she came to receive Naina, with her other friends, in almost a whisper. "Thank you" said Naina, in the same soft tone as Pooja. Yes, they WERE actually the BEST of friends. Alekh stood up from the decorated seat, which was kept at one end of the hall, on a lifted platform, which was superbly bedecked! Awesome decoration, similar to that of the song 'Mahi ve', from Kal Ho Na Ho. Seriously, simply remarkable! And yes, I LOVED that particular decoration in the movie, didn't you? So very fairy-tale like, and so, very happy and joyous, wasn't it?
Alekh stepped down from the dais, and put his hand forward toward Naina. She lovingly put hers forward too, and yes, this action of Alekh's was well-needed, because seeing the 'LIGHT' stuff Naina was wearing, it was obvious that she would fall down any moment! And yes, this happened too! As she was climbing up, her high-heeled sandals twisted, and BANG! There she was, on Alekh! No, Alekh didn't fall, instead thankfully, he saved her! Everyone started to clap. Funny, and crazy that was! What WAS the need to clap, I still can't understand. Peculiar, no? Hmmmm… It is quite weird for me, though.
"Oops, I didn't hurt you na?" "No, I can very well understand the condition of a girl who never wears lehengas, and high-heels, with all this heavy make-up! It's alright" said Alekh, with a cute grin on his golu-molu face! "Come on up, let's go." "Hm." And they both sat besides each other. Cute, and a very adorable picture was taken, after everything was settled down properly. A simple ceremony, followed by a light, cheerful dinner party. The whole thing was arranged in the same Main Hall, of Naina's house. It could accommodate more than 100 people. Yes, it WAS that big. After all, Naina's parents belonged to an extremely rich family in India. But today, there were present only a few people-Naina's pa, mom, Navin, Ali, Yudi, Alekh's mom, dad, granny, Arjun, Siddharth, his sisters, Oyester, and a few of their parents' friends. Not more than 25 people in all. Anybody left? Oh yes, of course, Naina and Alekh. You know what the co-incidence in this party was, that Alekh and Naina, were getting engaged at the same place, at the same time, on the same day! Funny na? Hmmmmm… I know I know. Okay, okay, don't kill me for this. I know this is a very old joke! After their parents' friends had gone, they all decided to go out for a short stroll. No one changed his/her clothes, and they went out as it is. Alekh, Naina, their parents, Yudi, Ali, Navin, Pooja, Huda, and Oyester. Granny didn't go. She was tired, and so decided to stay back, and rest for a while, till the time they came back. You know what, she was so very excited about all this. Whenever there was any such occasion naa, she became so happy, and excited about the whole thing.
Namely Lajjo, she was one of the most respected persons in their colony. Everyone called her Granny, 'cause she was the Perfect Grandma, one could ever have. So nice, polite, understanding, and on top of all, a Great human being, who could find happiness in every single thing, and who could make even the Devilest of people, feel nice, and good. Her magic of spreading love, and her loving 'Jaadu ki Jhappi', were the most talked-about things, about her. She was an Angel in disguise, yes she was. She was a Gem! But all this doesn't mean, that she was a serious person. No no, not at all! She was so fun-loving, so enthusiastic about everything! If you've ever seen the program 'Shanno ki Shaadi', you would know, whom I'm talking about. She was similar to the character of 'Bebe', in the program. A wonderful human being, yes, that's what she was!
