Watch & Learn
He gently pulled on the book she held and drew her closer
“U saw my book?” she asked in awe
“Ive seen all ur books I think” he winked
“Mera room messy bata rahe ho?” she whispered
“No you read way more than I do” he whispered
“Do u have signed books?”
“Nope” he made a sad face
“I know a couple of attorney spouses who are also authors” she offered
He was blown away by her sweet innocence
He could pretty much have anyone sign his book
“U haven’t invited me to ur book readings or your poetry play things”
“I haven’t received any invites no” she explained animatedly
He suspected she was lying
“Not one huh?”
“U will hate them” she whispered
“Oh that helps” he mocked
“U will find my friends uncivilized,”
“Ah”
He gently opened the book
“I cant wear it to work”
“Yes u can”
“Not where I work”
“U are going to be fine”
He gently hooked it on to her wrist
“I mean u cud go to the kavi sammelan thing I am going to on Friday” she said thoughtfully
“Oh u suddenly remembered?” he flashed a amused smile
“I guess”
He got off the bed
Watched her back of nervously
“U want to sign my book?”
“I am no author”
“Umm.. I like to put a date and where I bought it at on all of mine” “Or have people sign them when they gift it to me”
“U receive a lot of book gifts?”
“None with bracelets for book marks” she smiled evasively
He reached for his pen and scrawled
Raanav Parashar and the date
“Aur koi message?”
“To Viveka Ma”
She smiled as he pulled her closer for a kiss
“I can bribe you weekly if that’s what it will take to attend one of of your secret society parties”
‘Its NOT a secret society” she whispered on his lips
“There is a membership right?”
She laughed and he kissed
She was clever in control and cautious to the outside world, with him she was an adventurous, tactile person who loved to touch and be touched, she looked at him with nervous apprehension as her soft curvaceous body vibrated with anticipation of thrill.
Her lips parting begging him to end the wait, he immediately obliged bending down to seek her mouth, shifting his lean body to accommodate her so she could “feel” him
“I love and hate the saree” he cursed, as he could not feel her, through the folds in the front
The kiss went far too long, he staggered back holding her close
“I can have Nakul add u to the group” she whispered leaning on his chest breathing heavy
She found it mighty amusing that he would want to be part of such ridiculously silly pursuits she had
She changed into a better less crumpled saree, texted her theater and book club groups to add the Parashar kid so they could send a sign up link to him
He went off to take a shower playing the hard rock music he loved to listen to with the new updated sound system
She told herself she needed to figure out a way to change the playlist to 1940s Hindi movie songs
She chuckled, as she packed her work bag, his phone buzzed
She assumed it must be from the group admins she peeked at the nightstand
It was actually Smrita
There was a LONG paragraph
Viveka’s heart lurched when she read
“I am trying to be nice to your wife I don’t think she deserves it I am not sure what she is up to. I am not sure what she is saying to Dad, this has to stop….”
The notification cut off
Viveka did not know his password neither checked his phone secretly like some wives
Her heart sank
She sat down for a bit to gather her thoughts
20 minutes later she left the suite to grab something to go and head out
Smrita was eating alone
Good Morning” Viveka mumbled
She didn’t want Smrita to know she had accidentally read a text
“We don’t have to be pleasant there is no one watching” Smrita said coolly
Took her plate and went up the stairs
