Tapan is upset because Parul is upset. Has anyone thought about what Shubhra is going through? She is stuck having to choose sides. More than Parul, she is the one who needs support at this time. Why doesn't Parul see that?

Brush with normal

Nothing in Tapan life was normal even before Shubhra walked into it. It will take a long time for him to have normal.

Tapan wants a happy family and brother hood with Nitin, and he doesn't have that. Nitin is always pissed off and goes off the deep end whenever he feels he is slighted. But still Tapan wants a relationship with him. Can he blame Shunhra for wanting her father to come to her side and have a happy family too? Neither side has a perfect family but both want it to be.

What Shubhra needs to do make it clear to her family that she will go ahead with her plans and they have to accept it. No going after Tapan's family and no insults. They can be part of her life, but can not insult her or her family. Violence can not be tolerated at all. Lay down the terms and stick to them.

Broken up

Hi!" Shubhra waved a nervous hand, balancing the basket in her left hand

"Here let me" Tapan reached"

"Its for Parul" she mumbled

He laughed realizing what she was thinking

"Sorry" he made a face, thunder exploded outside

Shubhra approached Parul gingerly and handed it to her

"How are you?"

"Main theek hoon" Parul hugged with some warmth

"How is Gagan?" she asked

"So rahe hain" Parul said quietly

"Is he OK?"

"Hmmm... no... he is not, he balanced on his hurt elbow to get off the bed and tore something in his shoulder" Parul let the rivers flow

"I am so sorry" Shubhra reached for a hug

Parul sat down instead

"hmm... phh... hmm" Parul sniffled and wiped away tears

"i am sorry dard hai bahut?"

"I bet... first of all he is not 100% oopar se"

"I am sure" Shubhra nodded

Tapan walked to the balcony to give the women privacy

"Tapan chai lekar aao"

"sure" he went back in "Zabardast baarish aane waali hai" Tapan smiled with joy

"gagan ko uthana padega" Parul spoke wistfully as Gagan loved rains

Shubhra waited for Parul to say "Chai to peeyogi?" like always it never came

Tapan tho brought it in three cups with the usual sides of mithai and namkeen

Parul was polite to extend a cup and saucer toward her

"Thanks Parul"

"Chai ka time hai" Parul sofetened

Shubhra nodded

"How... where is Arya?"

"She went with my in-laws Dubeys ke yahan chai thi"

"Oh?" "what did she wear?" Shubhra asked longingly

"Hmm.. kya pehni woh?" Parul looked at Tapan

"Clothes" he laughed under his breath

Parul looked at him like "Really?"

"He is funny" Shubhra said

"Haan hamesha galat time pe" Parul nodded

"I cant remember sheesh" Tapan explained

"I think yeh kuch laaya wahan se, iska suitcase ek to uske liye rehta hai, some yellow gingham sleevless dress" Parul looked at her phone

Mrs Dubey had sent her a picture

"Iam sorry for "

"Kuch khao" Parul broke that line off

"Parul"

"Abhi baat nahi karenge uske baare mein"

Shubhra was devastated she nodded, trying to melt the lump in her throat with the hot chai gulp

"were you busy?" Shubhra asked softly

"No, just prepping for dinner, ghar par mehmaan hain" Parul smiled slowly

"what were you making?"

"Chane ki dal paneer ki bhurji aur roti" Parul explained

"Hmm"

Tapan got up and went inside to take it

After like 30 minutes Shubhra appeared in the doorway

"Did she like her flowers?" he enquired

"I don't know I didnt ask" she muttered nervously

"Hmm" he leaned on the wall arms crossed across his chest

they had "met" intimately int this room

She was going to remember this forever

"Tapan, I hope you understand"

"I don't but its OK" he smiled with difficulty

"My Dad is over protective. He has"

He waved at her to interrupt her

"Please, not here I don't want to hear about him"

"Can you ever be OK with him?"

He breathed slow and hard as if someone stood on his chest

"Prolly not" he said

"Oh" her eyes filled up with tears

"So my defending him hurts you huh?" she declared as if she had JUST come to that realization

"You can say that"

"I love Parul"

"well did you tell her?" he demanded

She nodded

"But I think..."

He wanted to ask "Too late now??" but stopped himself

"You think this will work only if I walk away from my parents for good?"

"what do u think?" he asked softly

His heart was hammering

JUST LIKE THAT... they were having a life altering conversation standing near the balcony as rain pelted outside

"I get the feeling the answer is a yes"

"Do you get why I cannot stand your parents?" he asked emboldened

she looked at him dismayed

"Do you understand how much that hurts ME?" she asked not trying to fight her tears

"I do" he said somberly

"You arrived in my life unexpectedly Tapan... my Dad.. mere"

"I know you have told me" he cut her off

Hearing anything about that guy was going to send him over the edge he felt

"Parul is still sad" she mumbled, as if magically flowers were goingt o rewind everything "I dont think... I think she blames me" "yeah I think she believes its me" Shubhra spoke with sadness

"she is shaken up Shubhra"

"I did not expect my Dad to show up like that"

"But I bet uve probably seen him bully and terrorize people before" he said coldly

"You punished him for it" she reminded him piercingly

"Yes... I did... I am justified... two lives have been lost, barely 50 year old TWO lives"

He displayed two fingers

"I"

"I will be delighted if I never see him ever again in life" he said calmy

"Uh... Ohh" she was rubbing her forehead with her fingers, trying to shield him from the grief

"He is my Dad Tapan"

"I dont have one because of HIM" he said

"Umm... mmm" "Thats not true, he did not kill your parents"

she sniffled and swallowed

"HE DID Shubhra, they died of crushing grief, of financial loss and crushing grief... BTW... yeah he didnt stab them to death with a knife, or pull a trigger" he fought tears

"That is" she began to argue

"I know when you left with him, he has "gotten to you" he said emotionless

"You think I am 12?" she lifted up her gaze to ask him thru blazing eyes

"No... but you definitely love him more than you love me" he said clearing his throat trying not to get emotional

THAT IS NOT TRUE her mind voice screamed

She wanted to lunge at him and claw his eyes out for being in so much control

She swallowed trying hard not to wail out loud in despair

"And you love Parul" she found her voice finally

She extended her fist

He didnt need to ask what it was

He refused to take it

She set it on the low coffee table like thing by the wall

She would usually put her air pods on it when she came by to nurse him to health

It rolled a bit sideways and the stone faced him like a dice

She left the apartment sobbing

He leaned on the wall and criedwalked out in the rain to make it seem like he was soaked

He picked up the ring and inhaled

That intense "Shubhra scent" of some luxury perfume

He had inhaled in her peaks and valleys many many times before

He took it to the kitchen as Parul tossed broken up paneer round and round in a sizzling karhai

"Jagao Gagan ko" "Khaane par rukegi na" she asked of Shubhra

the affection was still there

He set the ring on the black granite

She dropped the ladle and it clattered to the floor

Brother and sister hugged and cried together

Probably for the best. This was one Brahma Mudichu ... ummm... Brahma Granthi... a knot so difficult to untie.

They couldn't get through the final frontier. Absolutely Gutting but some as they say are not meant to be.

If you look at it, he has never been able to let go of his past. Yes he tried to take revenge , felt guilty about pulling his enemy's daughter into it, but as plans for firmed up, they were not ideally prepared for facing the reality of the inevitable. Both are faced with the same family situation in a way. He's far too emotional wanting to hold on to the one strong thread of the family he is left with . And she's in a similar position, not wanting to let go of the slim thread she's hanging on to of the parental ties she has with at least one parent , which is already at the end of the tether.

She doesn't want to loose her dad and he doesn't want to even hear his name or hear her defending him. It's a final frontier they couldn't cross.

Shubhra coukd sense the doubt in parul's mind... Trust is such an underrated phenomenon ... Too much riding for it just to be a romantic Angle between Tapan and shubhra. Parul and shubhra's friendship was always a third wheel to this . The ring is just a metaphor here for breaking up... the friendship ring has also been stripped of her finger.

Unfortunately when confrontation got worse with the scene at the marker place, it left no room for negotiation as far as Tapan was concerned . I get his stand but two wrongs cannot make a right.

Unless he mets up with a shrink and kinda lets go, this relationship is weak on its legs. No two ways about it . I'm saying this even if she had walked out on her father, tapan would still have had to go to counseling to make this relationship work.

I understand Shubra's dilemma and her stand. You can't ask a girl to choose sides. She's done the right thing, though extremely difficult, by walking away.

But I can't blame Tapan for it. He has every right to hate that man. He shouldn't be emotionally obligated to keep any relations with him even for Shubra's sake. If she expects it, I think she's not understanding the intensity of his pain.

Her retaliation to the comment that you love your dad more than you love me is, you love Parul. No man. I know you think Shubra that he's behaving this way because Parul is hurt, and that is not wrong, but there is seriously no comparison between your dad and Parul, who has always supported you, who dotes on her brothers. If he's supporting her, he's not doing anything wrong.
