Have you watched the movie "the descendants"? I remember, walking out of the theater, my husband and I turned to each other and said "if I'm ever in such a situation, pull the plug don't even think twice". I guess its easy to say, but I wonder how easy it would be if one is actually faced with such a situation. Like you rightly said, a difficult decision both morally and emotionally. Khushi here knows the reality, that her mother is gone for all purposes, but she cannot mourn her loss, go through the process of coming to terms with one's grief. Mr. Gupta seems like someone who wouldn't care about another person's view point.

I really like the way you have phrased this.

A living reminder of a person who no longer exists. Yet, you can't grieve for the person who's gone. It's a very difficult decision to make, both morally and emotionally. When do you say, enough. I agree with Khushi when she speaks of selfishness, but then the what-if will always hover over any decision. Thank God for the existence of living wills, although I somehow can't see Mr Gupta adhering to his wife's wishes, even if she had made them known.

Arnav’s visit to his in laws was an eye opener for him. Firstly he came to know his mother in law who is brain dead is being kept on a ventilator on his father in laws behest instead of allowing her to go.

Secondly he got some idea about the atmosphere in the house. Kushi and her brother are literally scared of their father .Moreover Alok Raj Gupta may be a multimillionaire richer than the Raizadas but he is dictatorial and his way of thinking shows how orthodox he is .

So also after coming here we have got to see a new side of Arnav’s character. He is not insensitive .his conversation with kushi indicates he has a positive outlook and asks her to be optimistic in life.

Hmm very interesting indeed. I somehow feel like Khushi might’ve spoken up on behalf of Garima and probably asked her dad to let her go to end her suffering. Maybe she’s a doctor OR maybe she has all this medical knowledge because she did a legitimate research to try and convince her dad to change his mind. And perhaps because of that or something else entirely, Alok holds a grudge or dislikes Khushi and holds her responsible for Garima’s current condition. I also feel like Garima might’ve landed in this situation because of something that had to do with Alok or trying to save Khushi from something that had to do with Alok and because of that, he’s trying to keep her “alive” for as long as possible to get over his guilt OR because he finally realized the importance she held in his life after losing her completely.

Arnav acted exactly how a normal person should act whether you’ve been forcefully joined into a relationship you didn’t ask for or if you were head over heels in love with someone and then found out their loved one was suffering. Its basic human reaction and shows that Arnav after all, is a human being. He will be sorry when he truly feels it. Also shows that he’s deep down an optimistic guy. Poor Khushi was probably optimistic too but I feel like her father made her pessimistic about a lot of things in her life so much so that she doesn’t even expect a good marriage with Arnav.

Love that he’s finally realizing the little details of Khushi‘s life. The fact that she didn’t eat breakfast with them. The fact that she’s more than ok with sleeping on the floor. The fact that she’s suffering everyday because she can’t even mourn the loss of her mother. After the three weeks, I feel and hope they’ll become friends and help each other flourish in each other’s respective careers.

Can’t wait to read more!!

I haven’t watched the film you’ve mentioned, will look out for it. I think a living will helps your loved ones make that difficult decision. Or rather, live with that decision.
I wonder if guilt or ego are factors in Mr Gupta’s stubbornness.

Ruchi and Priya,

It looks like more ego than guilt to me. He wanted his wife to lay breakfast everyday for him. He asked rather ordered Khushi to enter his house only with her husband after the marriage.

In other words, a wife can't leave the house or return, without her husband. What if he is thinking, Garima can't leave the house without him. What if he is keeping her on life support until he too leaves this world?

Cheers.....

"Maybe she’s a doctor OR maybe she has all this medical knowledge because she did a legitimate research to try and convince her dad to change his mind." - 100% correct! Of course Khushi would have done her research as soon as Garima's condition became evident...

"Arnav acted exactly how a normal person should act whether you’ve been forcefully joined into a relationship you didn’t ask for or if you were head over heels in love with someone and then found out their loved one was suffering. " - also very very true!! As hateful as Arnav came off in the first few chapters, he is still a human being and will definitely feel sorry for someone else's loss...

Arnav is going to be picking up much more in the next chapter!!

Hmm... I see where you guys are coming from, but don't judge Alok & Garima's relationship just yet. As I mentioned before, the chapters are written from Khushi's POV, so what you read is her interpretation of the situation, not necessarily what is happening. Alok may seem orthodox, expecting his wife to serve him meals, but that doesn't mean he didn't love her or that he is keeping her on life support just for his ego...
