Part 9.

“Well, look at that! It’s coming down.” I said. I showed him the thermometer.“I wish it had stayed a little bit longer.” He said. He made a face.“What? Why? Kunal, you’re driving me crazy!” I said. He wasmaking no sense. He looked at me sadly.“You’re glad the fever’s gone because now you can give me the silent treatment again, right?” he asked.“ Nooo ,you baby. Kunal, what is cooking in that big head of yours?” I asked. He laughed.“I was just glad that you were by my side. Your anger scared me. I wasn’t getting how to fix things.” He complained. Now he was really melting me. I tried not to smile. He clutched my hand. There was vulnerability in his behavior. I loved it. I can’t pretend that seeing him so affected by me just made me feel on top of the world.“So you decided to get sick, so I could fix you?” I asked.“No, that just happened on it’s own.” He said.“Oh, of course…sure. Kunal, please grow up.” I said.“I did. I swear! I just…that day…at the hospital, and then the way you cut me off…your nightmares, everything has been scaring me…I…” he couldn’t finish speaking. I covered his mouth. “Later. We will definitely talk about everything later. I have a lot to ask, yes…I need answers. But not now…” I said. He nodded.“I’ll wait.” He said. My heart ached to wrap my arms aroundhim and shower him with love because he clearly needed it right now. With a sigh, I got up. He stopped me. He held out his hand. I held it.“Yes?” I asked. He pulled me in an instant and I landed in his lap.“Kunal, what are you doing?” I asked. He held my face and kissed my forehead.“I love you.” He said. I didn’t want to smile. I wanted to keep him waiting a bit longer. Reluctantly, I got up and left. He spent the rest of the day with the kids who just seemed relieved to see their energetic father back in action. He took them to see a movie, just him and the kids. I still wasn’t sure about him being so active but he didn’t run a fever again.That was a relief. When he came home with the kids, he told me to get ready.“Let’s go out for dinner tonight with the girls.” He said.“it’s been so long.” I agreed. We had dinner with the kids and took them to the restaurant we loved while on our recent mini honeymoon. The girls couldn’t get enough of their father. Pari was already his princess but it was amazing to see Mishti's attachment to him. During dinner she literally interview him.“Papa what’s your favorite food? What’s your favorite icecream? What’s your favorite burger? Did dadi let you eat what you wanted?” These were just some of the questions she asked her fellow foodie. “Yes, your dadi did let me eat what I wanted to.” He said. “But Mumma never let’s me.” Mishti sulked.“Hmm, that sounds familiar. “ he nudged me with his elbow.“Kunal, she gets up at 3am and eats whatever is in the fridge. Then I get calls from her school to pick her up because she has a stomach ache.” I told him. He chuckled.“That’s my girl.” He said. I gave him a look. ,”Um, no, Imean, Mishti , your mother is right. You have to be careful so you can grow upto be strong like your mom…,” he said.“That’s better.” I told him. He smiled. Pari was in my lap throughout dinner. I fed her. She was independent and mature for such a tiny little girl but whenever I saw her, I felt like pampering her.We went home after dinner and the girls fell asleep quickly.They had a long day. We went to our room. Kunal went for a shower. I had his medicine ready along with a thermometer. I changed and waited for him. He came out, sans his shirt, wet and all. “Mauli, where’s my white shirt? I cant find it.” He said. Igot up and looked for it. He was standing near my shoulder. I turned and bumped right into him. “Oops…” he said. I gave him the shirt. It was hard to take my eyes off of him at the moment. He got into bed and went through his phone.His hair was still wet.“Kunal, dry your hair.” I said. He was watching match highlights. “in a minute.” He said. “More like an hour…” I thought. I gave him medicine and checked his temperature. It was normal.He wasn’t moving from that one spot on our bed. I took a towel and dried his hair. “Mauli yaar…” he stopped me.“What? Kunal are you planning on sleeping with wet hair?Your pillow will be soaked. You just had a fever. Kunal, why are you being such a baby? Where’s that mature, wise, self dependent guy I saw before our marriage? I feel like you’ve turned into a baby since our wedding day.” I told him. He finally put his phone away and listened.“Mauli, I’m still that guy…I promise you that.” He said.“Hmm…” I didn’t reply. He held my hand. “Your love does spoil me though. Mauli, you know, sometimes I think that if I compliment you you wouldn’t believe me. You wouldn’t feel it’s genuine. You’d hear it and think, wow, he said this before but look what happened or you’d think that it’s not an exclusive compliment…that at some point, I said those same words to someone else…am I right?” he asked. I nodded. He was pretty accurate.“Ok, well…I just want to tell you that in my life, whateverI have said to you regardless of whether it was good or bad, it was always genuine. It always came from a good place. Itcame from my soul. I can’t fake it with you.” He said.I was looking into his eyes. There was that maturity and vulnerability again. There was so much depth. “Now, getting back to what you said. I may have been acting a bit like a baby because no one’s ever made me feel the way you do. No one. No one.,” he said. He emphasized the last part. “So that’s why you end up being this big needy baby?” I asked. He smiled. He nodded his head.“I guess so. But I wont do it again.” He said. He caressed my cheek. “I’m not ready to talk about what happened at the hospital yet, Kunal.” I told him. “But I just want to ask you,are you involved with anyone except me?” “No. NO. NO. Never. I’ll be damned.” He said. “Mauli I’m ready to talk about Dr. Tara. I had to meet her because I was literally terrified seeing your condition.” He said. I did believe him. The doubts screamed but I did believe him. “I swear on my life…” he said.“Ok. Stop. We will discuss everything another day.” I said.He agreed. He grabbed me by both my arms and pulled me against him. “Don’t leave my side tonight.” He said. His hair was still sort of wet. I ran my fingers though it. Why would I ever want to leave him? All of my heart and soul longed only for him. It did when he was with me and when he was away. He started planting a trail of kisses around my neck and shoulder. “Mauli, I have a surprise for you.” He said. I broke out of the trance I was already slipping into.“What?” I asked. “I’ll tell you if but you have to do as I say.” He teased. I blushed. “Kunal, stop it, just tell me.” I said. He pulled me against him. “No. I won’t. You’re not getting what you want for free.” He said. He was seriously challenging me. “Ok, fine. Don’t tell me. I don’t even want to know. I’m sleepy. Let me sleep.” I said. I tried to free myself but his grip was too strong. The more I pulled away the harder his grip became.“Kunal, this isn’t fair.” I said. He made this face which Mishti and Pari always made while playing games. “All is fair in love and war, sweetheart.” He whispered. I laughed and he did too. “Ok, fine, what do you want?” I asked. He raised his eyebrows.“You know what I want.” He answered in a suggestive tone.“Chii, Kunal, I feel used.” I said. I pushed him away. He was laughing now. Irritating me amused him. “Ugh, goodnight Kunal!” I said. I escaped and pulled the covers over me. “Mauli yaar, I was kidding. I just wanted you to scratch my back.” I got up and hit him on the shoulder.“Ouch! What’s that for?” he asked.“For your bad habits.You always did this. Even 6 years ago.Am I a monkey that you need me to scratch your back?” I asked. He was cracking up.“Yaar, please…what am I supposed to do if you take everything I say the wrong way? I wanted you to scratch my back. I’m serious. I didn’t need anything else.” “And the surprise? Is that fake too?” I asked. “Ah…someone’s dying to know what’s surprise. So impatient,my love. Wait till tomorrow morning. I promise, you’ll know everything.” He said with a smile and then laid down and covered himself. I read a book and Kunal fell asleep. I kissed him and held him all night.

sorry for the late review...another amazingly beautiful chapter with balance of emotions...love n kids together...maunal has sort out their issues n being back as normal....their main strength is togetherness..both are incomplete w/o each other n both completes each other...its nice to see mishti-kunal bonding,mishti getting to know her father likes n dislikes n pari is becoming mumma's girl...love the way mauli is so attached to pari n showering her with all the motherly love the sweet girl deserves...what i further loved was kunal being honest to himself n also to mauli and wants to share his fears n his feelings to her...something that missed when they were together before EMA becos mauli doesn't share anything to kunal n its him who find out abt it be it nandini or anything that is bothering her...while now both are equally sharing their fears n feelings...a new relationship with strength...love n trust is being build up...2nd chance in relationship is building up beautifully

Big baby kunal back in business.......someone melting by kunal behave....after long a stress free update....can't wait for the next part.....
