On small towns, my mom says her best memories when we were growing up, she says , they were the best. It's going to be an adjustment, but I hope given how India is today, the difference between small towns and non metros to metros is shrinking.
Had an opportunity to be in Ranchi 6 yrs bk and I thought Wow!! lots of happening things India has got in these small centers.

I grew up in a joint family in a very small town and whenever I happen to go there, I get this feeling of belonging so much so I told my husband that we should settle there after retirement. I feel my town has not lost it's charm though it has got all the modern amenities. My husband, being city bred throughout, never understands that feeling. 😭 Anyways I am hoping to convince him one day at least for a partial retirement.

Agree. I was taking a quiz the other day as to which place suits best for our kind of retirement needs. The Quiz threw up India for yours truly and Paris for him. I said may be it should have been ulta. I told him place of retirement is such a farce for him.,Give him South Indian food in an Indian set up , thrown in a get together with friends weekends with a drink or two, curd rice in the end, he will be good anywhere 😊 Touch Wood.

We lament about red tape and stuff in India. Here I was left frustrated yday. Needed attestation of two docs from the Indian embassy here. Tried my best to do it closer to home but realized had no other option but to drive to Houston to get it done.. cmon!! 20 mins job beating 10 hrs drive up and down. Evening traffic was frustrating. What a waste of day !!
