Harit aur Teeku

"Kaam par nahi gayi hai yeh do din se Himani whispered pacing up and down Avantika's balcony

The pounding grew louder, there was some repair and renovation happening in the rooms east and north.

"Itne saare khilone, books, abhi bacha yaha rahega kya pata Lakshmi threw her hands up in despair

Lakshmi walked dejectedly to the room Chandan was in, Garima and Gauri were playing around him, he just lay there on the giant felt alphabet mat staring at the ceiling, his favorite fire truck held tight in his tiny fat fist

Lakshmi nodded walking over to him

"Munna Daadi ke saath soyenge? she asked

"Teeku Maaasiii he began to bawl.

Lakshmi picked up her cell phone in her room and scrolled through the numbers calling her husband

"Subah se kuch khaaye hi nahi she cried

"Hum nahi karenge baat Lakshmi, 4 din pehle jab karey to baat pata nahi kidhar se kidhar chali gayi, unki jawaan beti bistar mein hai Sita Ram Vaidya was ashamed

"Harit ko hum keh dete hain, aur munne ko milwa lete hain

"Sooraj Paschim se ugega us se pehle Sita Ram spoke in a frustrated tone

"Ruken ek phone aa raha hai

"bhaisaab namashkar, hum Shyam Gupta ki wife Himani

"Behenji kaisi hain?

"Baat kar paayenge?

There his wife's eyes lit up instantaneously, she stood up forgetting her exhaustion and sadness, her heart filled with joy at her scholarly husband's decree.
